A bit of communication early on would’ve allowed him to better understand what was going on. Sure that info would’ve been painful to learn, but he probably would’ve tried to support her as best as he could, at least emotionally. With the FMC choosing the route she did and what she did after she returned, she got lucky the MC didn’t straight start ignoring her and putting distance between them. Things she did that were questionable: - being vague at the beginning instead of filling him in on what really went on when she moved in with him - basically invades his room without his consent and messes around and throws insults at him when he tries to question what she's doing - at school, reveals everything mainly for her own benefit. MC probably felt really uncomfortable with all this being put into the open, but she likely did not care about how he may have been feeling. - as time goes on, basically takes over his room, even so much as threatening to blackmail him if he tried to get her out of his room - only reveals what happened in the past because she kind of cornered herself. And all this time, she expected him to figure out her extremely cryptic hints that I don't think many of us viewers would've been able to figure out given the lack of context. If her dream was to marry him in the future, realistically, she would have destroyed her dream by her own actions. The MC should have rejected her confession, and if she loses sleep over this, that's her problem. She would have to do some major self-reflection to learn her lessons and then work to try to at least salvage a friendship, which even that much is going to be a big hill to climb. And all of this could have been prevented by a bit of communication early on.

People are messy, irrational, emotional creatures. They make mistakes. They handle things poorly. They say things in moments of frustration or anger (or drunkenness!) that are inappropriate. You will do it yourself, because you aren't perfect either. A big part of truly loving someone, be they a close friend, a family member, or your romantic partner, is forgiving them for their mistakes. This isn't to say you have to tolerate continually poor behavior -- there are limits to forgiveness -- but you should certainly give the people who love you the benefit of the doubt. In this particular story, Akane's actions, while incredibly misguided, came from a place of deep love; she tried to fabricate a situation where Kei would grow to hate her so that he wouldn't be upset if she didn't survive her operation. Unfortunately, the opposite of love isn't hate; it's indifference. If she HAD died, it's likely that Kei would have been left confused and frustrated about his final interaction with someone he had loved so much being so negative. There's certainly no way that he would feel indifferent about her death. But she's a child, so it's understandable that she would not handle such a difficult and delicate situation with grace. Imagine the emotions going through a young girl who was told "You will die if you don't get this surgery that may kill you." Kei loves her enough to forgive her missteps and build back his relationship with her. And that's the right thing to do. Why throw away years of history and what has the potential to be a literal lifetime of love over a bungled parting of ways? She clearly didn't intent to hurt him -- quite the opposite -- and intentions are VERY important in such matters.

Perhaps you can answer a question that has been bugging me since I started watching this style of video (not just Kanon's) - the pronunciation of names is often inconsistent within the same video, even by the same character. For example, in this video, Akane's name is pronounced a-KAH-nay in the earlier part of the video, but later becomes AH-kah-nay. In other videos, it can even go back and forth several times. I don't read or speak Japanese, so there may be a good reason for that inconsistency, but I find it distracting in otherwise enjoyable stories, so I'm hoping there is a reason of transliteration?

Just once, I wanna see a story where the girl's inability to be honest ends up biting her in the ass. Like, she tells the MC she hates him for whatever reason (moving away, not being able to handle her crush on the MC, or in this case illness), and when they meet again years later, not only does he still hate her, he's openly hostile to her. And when she confronts him about it and confesses he outright rejects her. It's then that she realizes her past actions and lack of honesty have backfired on her and she's gotten exactly what she asked for: Her childhood friend, who she's always loved, now hates her. And it's all her fault.

This was a really cute and sweet story. Obvious criticism aside, and Keito acting like how a normal person would given the situation, I'm glad that Akane confessed everything to Keito about her own feelings and why she acted cold to him in the past. And now they are together, and that's really what matters here. A nice wholesome end to this nice and sweet story. But a little better communication would have saved a lot of trouble. But I'll let other people explain the criticism of this story while I just enjoy it. Plus that bit with her being sick actually got me worried, I'm glad she got over it and the story didn't have a melancholic ending to it.

Akane really mishandled everything about her illness. Instead of pushing Keito away from her when she was sick, she should have brought him into it, even if she had to risk causing him grief if she didn't pull through with her operation. Not only would Keito have been a source of strength for her, but it's ALWAYS better to be prepared for the worst to happen to someone you love; if Akane had died, Keito would have learned everything in that moment of being told about her passing and likely would have been devastated in a crippling way. Don't push your friends, family, and lover away in your hardest moments; bring them closer to you and let them support you.

Her hands and feet are suffering from neuropathy because the drug pools in extremities; they look like she has chemical burns on her palms and the bottom of her feet. I've been doing what I can to care for her, but it's been hard. I'm just glad that all tests have shows that she's cancer free, and the doctors say that she should have her incredibly soft hands back in a couple of months. I've still been watching videos, but really mostly just Etra and the other really high-quality channels. I click out of a lot of the more formulaic stories that you see on repeat with slightly different characters because I'm low on time. This one was an interesting story, though. I like the ones that present their characters as flawed individuals who make bad choices and then don't really know how to fix the problems they created. I'm discouraged by how many people say they wouldn't have forgiven Akane, though. Perhaps it's because they haven't experienced what it's like to be so close to someone you have known since a young age, but I think it's a waste to throw away a great friend over a misstep they made while under the duress of a life-threatening disease.

This is just becoming a trend to shit on tsundere type characters .I mean for god sake she was a low teen (maybe 12-14) It's not like people who complain were communication experts at that age even adults can't communicate properly all the time. This is a problem that people will hate a type of personality to not even give them a chance . Its not like everyone has the same personality that you like , that doesn't mean you can shit on them . Otherwise, her schemes would have backfired, and she would have ended up like the female characters in Nyanta-san & Pomeko-san, and other similar manga. I love childhood romances but this one is kind of a questionable one. If Akane didn’t reveal that she had an illness that would claim her life before turning 18, who knows how Keito would handle that. Hell, part of me thought that she only said she hated him because she didn’t want him to be sad that she was moving to a different country and wanted him to be happy with someone that wasn’t her in the end. But here we are. I’ll admit, she should’ve come clean about everything but at the same time, it might have ruined their relationship worse than what she did at that time. Still, I am thrilled they made peace and got together.

No. The issue here is the breadth of how she hurt him. We may read this/watch this in the span of 10-20 minutes but, these character are living years of their lives. This guy has had to live with this pain and confusion for several years. There is no way to accept this, because he didn't know what was going on. She didn't even say why she hated me him. At first he'd be only sad and confused. As time passed, he'd be more confused but, less sad and more angry. The fact that he isn't told why would eat at him. Especially if he's a teenage boy. The closer they were before, the angrier he'd eventually get.

The Other issue here, is the breadth of how she hurt him. We may read this/watch this in the span of 10-20 minutes but, these characters are living years of their lives. This guy has had to live with this pain and confusion for years. There is no way to accept this situation, because he didn't know what was going on. She didn't even say why she hated me him. At first he'd be only sad and confused. As time passed, he'd be more confused but, less sad and more angry. The fact that he isn't told why would eat at him. Especially if he's a teenage boy. The closer they were before, the angrier he'd eventually get. Even a stupid reason would have been better. That was one of the things that changed things drastically. At this point, he should probably have this big list of things he wants to say to her, and not quietly. The fact she acts like nothing happened, so blatantly too. There is no way that subject would have gone unmentioned. Like letting loose the floodgates, and the whole dam crumples like paper. He's probably thought about what he wants to say but, in the moment he won't be able to say it like he imagined. A lot of things that would be embarrassing in a public environment. His feelings for her, before the incident, would come flying out. With little to no filter. Then he'd replay the incident, and how he felt then. The fact that she didn't even tell him why. How that affected him all this time. Then the questions that he wouldn't wait for an answer, before going to the next. Then, pointing out that now she's here acting like everything that happened, didn't happen. Then he'd prob leave or go to his room, and get some distance between him and her. He might regret saying some embarrassing things. But, in the moment he wouldn't give a single fk.
