Husker fan and UNL alum here...I was at the KSU USC game in manhattan. Great to see USC go down in that game and the big 12 representing. Props to Snyder for what he did at KSU in the 90's - no denying it was the biggest turnaround ever, but it seems like they are taking a step backwards by having him return to the program.

Yes, USC did get beat by K-State two years in a row...This was in PETE CARROLL's first two seasons...K-State had a nice run there for a while especially with SPROLES, he is an awesome talent...and might even start for SD soon if LT keeps, getting hurt...but I haven't heard much from K-State in a while...

If im not mistaken USC was pretty good in the 80s. Kansas State was usually a top ten team throughout the 90s. They were almost the caliber of Nebraska at the time.

The Condoms had some down years in the '90s (3-8 in '91, 6-6 in '96, 6-5 in '97, 6-6 in '99and 5-7 in '00) but revitalized when Carrol got there. KSU was becoming a powerhouse since the early '90s. They were a littel ahead of USC. So these 2 games The Cats won really carry much weight. I mean lets be honest if they were to play now. I'm not so sure if KSU would be able to hang. Nevertheless, they were great wins for the KSU program in historical perspective for both sides.

I was actually at this game and the title is a bit misleading...this was just Carroll's second game as head coach and SC was basically made up of the same scrubs that Hackett coached to a 3-8 record the year before. SC was a heavy underdog in this game and it surprised most of us in the stands that it was even close in the end.

K-State was starting a sophomore at quarterback and USC has always been good at home in LA. They had plenty of talent on that 2001 roster. K-State was just way better in the trenches and the Wildcats definitely could have finished 9-3 or better in 2001

By the way, the Pac-10 doesnt have a conference championship because they play eachother during the season which automatically determines a champ unlike the Big-12 that has to have a championship game because all of the teams are too busy padding their schedules by playing teams like The Southwestern East Florida International A&M State Atlantic Cupcakes instead of playing eachother during the season.

Like I said, USC is a good team, in fact, they're the ONLY top-flight team in the Pac 10. Washington used to be a great program but now sucks. UCLA had some good years under Toledo but now sucks. Oregon State had some good years under Erickson but now sucks. Oregon has been mediocre for a long time. Washington State is a giant void. Cal was good for about a year. The Pac 10 is like this because there's no commitment to winning.

K-State was a better football team than USC in 2002. They were up 27-6 in Manhattan in the fourth quarter before USC stormed back. KSU had a great team in 2002 and deserved a much better opponent in their bowl game. They really deserved a BCS bowl in 2002, as well as 1998, 1999, and 2000
