I'll always pick Ye. Kevin Hart said it best. He's willing to stand in the fire. He doesn't chase a formula. He reinvents his sound every single time. Pharrell pushes boundraries too but he stays in the same box. You know a pharrell beat when you hear it, you hear his influence on a song because he has a recognisable sound. Sure, he may add a few new things but they mainly add to his established sound. Pharrell has his own universe that artists jump into, Kanye doesn't. Kanye creates a new sound and isn't afraid to fail. none of his albums sound the same. The fact that Black skinhead, All falls down, Stronger, Gold Digger, Love Lockdown etc. are all made by the same person is pretty crazy.

This is a really good and harq question, but to me, BY FAR, its Kanye. Kanye has produced entire albums of legendary hits. Heartless, Two Words, Diamonds are Forever....just to name 4%. Pharell has some really good hits...but Kanye probably has x3 the volume of hits. Even as a beat producer, I will go so far as to say Kanye is as good as Timbalans and Dre. I used to consider Timbo the real king of beats...till one day it hit me. And I realized how unique and creative Kanyes beats are, and once again, the quantity. Very few artists can claim to have produced a string of 5, 6+ legendary albums... Kanye has.

To be fair, this one was very close, because I'm a fan of both and have both their music, either their own music or music they have produced. Pharrell is more prolific in terms of hits, but Kanye is to me is on a different level in my opinion.
