We love train travel! It seems like you never know what you're going to get, and this was no exception! We took an overnight train in "first class" or what the Norwegians call a "private compartment" from Oslo to Stavanger, Norway. The journey took about 9 hours total.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this KZbin channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Its not so very long ago that Norwegian trains had a middle level like nate talked about, communal cabins with three bunks where you could win the jackpot and go alone or most often with one or two strangers. I belive i remember the price was like 300 kroner which was very affordable compared to plane tickets back then. Now trains are so expensive they are mostly for enthusiasts if you are not travelling to or from a location along the way

That's also why you'll never see people sit next to each other on a bus if there are empty seats, people don't want other people that close unless we know them, again because we treasure our personal space greatly and the small-talk is simply a waste of time for us.

Of course the coffee is free, you're basically renting a hotel room on wheels, if a hotel didn't offer me free coffee, in Norway I would turn, run and never come back. Also, the water is clean, you can drink it from the tap.

From the tap on the train? Nah, I wouldn't do that. From hotels or houses? Sure! But the train? No way. Btw, I used to be a train conductor and I would rather go thirsty than drink the tapwater on the trains.

@@mackenzie7738 Well, the watertanks are rarely cleaned, much due to short turn-overs. So it'll have this strange taste to it. It is abit different in the coaches where you sleep than, say.. from the tap on the toilets on the trains. I remember we were told not to drink the tapwater on the trains due to contamination, and this was after they found contamination in the watersupply for the coffeemachines. And one should think those were cleaned often.

Comfort (better than basic seat aswell as free coffe/tee aswell as blankets and news papers. And last and most expensive is the bedrooms. :) for long trips 5h+ the bedrooms is the most pleasant way by far! :)

I was looking for the best night train trips to Norway, which is rare for travelers and I saw this on KZbin. It was actually third from my search, but the static thumbnail caught my eye. I saved it right away, but I couldn't help but subscribe right away, too, 'cause when I scrolled down to the old videos, I was amazed that you've been to the most awesome places I wanna be! Iceland, Antartica, Amsterdam...Name it. What makes this channel really awesome and not boring is that, it gives audiences what they really want. It's like, taking them along as you travel, without boring intros about you or what stuff you wear, for example. Also, it is very natural, and each clip is short and straightforward. One more thing I like is that, you are both willing to try unique food and no matter how bad things can get, you seem to still enjoy the travel. And you are generous with info on how you made the trip possible through miles and points. And I liked that this channel is not even meant to be a vlog initially. You deserved those number of subscribers. This channel is really awesome. Keep it up! 😊

In Norway we don't like to sit next to a stranger on the bus while we are awake. Of course we wouldn't share a sleeping compartment with a stranger on a train. You are asking too much out of us norwegians :P

@@rickycoker5830 it is quite true. Or rather we socialise with our friends. We often do not engage with stranger in a conversation. Or if we do talk to strangers, we are dead drunk on the weekends

What is it with Norway and there comfy, cozy, incredibly squishy beds? First, the treehouse, and now that cute little Airbnb? They certainly have the sleeping well thing down. I might want to go there just to sleep. And then eat chocolate. And then sleep some more. Bottom line: I LOVE Scandinavia! ❤️
