We love staying in unique accommodations when we travel, and this tiny home village in Norway definitely goes down as one of our favorite places we’ve ever slept! We drove 2 hours from Stavanger to Vinddalen, then hiked 2 hours to Skåpet where we slept in what was basically a tiny home village. It was also the first "self-service" cabin we've ever stayed in, plus there was a sauna!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. You can imagine how common that sentiment is. For me, material things comprise such a small part of life's joys. I'd reduce everything else to lower my carbon footprint and use it mostly on traveling. Norway, Italy and Japan are really the only places I want to spend extended time and I live in the states, so lot of US states.

it was a $40 stay if i heard correctly... save up some, take a flight, stay in cheap countries for months on less than $1000. most of south east asia is both beautiful and cheap... lodging in Bali with a pool multiple rooms enough for 12+, beautiful showers, a chef for 3 meals/day etc, can be as cheap as $250/day iirc thats $20/person if you get 11 other friends together. but thats also if youre looking to stay in luxury. look around do some research and save up take a long trip backpacking across beautiful areas, or a shorter one in luxury with friends

To bad they hate people with dogs. Norway gotta be the worst play to travel if you have ur dogs with u. Im from Norway myself and i come across so many places that dont allow dogs at all, or you need to have them in a cage, but then dont have any cages available in the huts. So i am just gonna carry a cage around in the middle of the mountain?

This is soo cool!! I live in this area, and has gone to «Skåpet» with school and it’s amazing!! I remember spending 2 hours in the sauna, because it was so amazing!! I too was a bit amazed. Once a year???!!! Me thinks a new chore should be added. Soak sheets in a tub with a bit of biodegradable soap. Rinse in the stream or using the shower. Wring out water. Hang to dry in bathhouse. New guests can get their linens there when they arrive!

You need to bring a sleeping bag, the sheets are just to protect the bed. The cabin’s are restocked by volunteers, and there are over 500 cabins in norway that are a part of this program. Some of the cabins takes over 7 hours to reach by foot and are very time and money consuming to restock. :)

Have always enjoyed the vlogs, but am LOVING the ones in Norway! I went there for a 3 week music camp near Kvitsund in 1990 and was able to get one day out to see the sights and LOVED it! I am REALLY wanting to go back!! Had to choose a camp in a country other than my own and the Peace Gardens on the Canadian/US border didn't count and the other two options were either Norway or Sweden. I chose Norway because a family friend that knew my maternal grandparents came from there and wanted to see his country. I'm in contact with a few people from there through Facebook! This was the first time I'd ever traveled by myself and was half way around the world at age 16!! Flew out of Winnipeg, MB, Canada where my maternal grandmother was from and visited family before and after returning!! Lost my luggage both ways as well!!!

The sleep bag liners 😆 I needed one of those for a hotel I stayed at in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We had to drive to Walmart and buy some cheap sheets to sleep on. Also your drone shots here are pretty!
