I have a weird thing that I notice too - I used to be really into the Rubik's cube when I was a teenager. Now any time I see shirts, cartoons, etc. depicting a Rubik's cube, it bugs the HECK out of me if it's shown in a color combination that could not exist on the standard Rubik's cube. Such as green and blue edges touching, when in reality those colors are on opposite sides of the cube and could not physically intersect.
@Banana_hamock3 жыл бұрын
This a year late but I have the answer! There are two color schemes. The japanese, blue touches green and the western, blue touches yellow!
@JLvatron2 жыл бұрын
The original Rubiks pattern was Blue opposite White and Green opposite Yellow. The 1980’s bootleg cubes had Blue op Green and White op Yellow. Funnily, the new Rubik’s cubes follow the bootleg pattern!!

10 years later...…She bought every single puzzle made with the same cut out. Plastered all over her walls are equations and polaroids with strings connecting new theories. Karen is huddled in the corner of her room as she finally cracks the code of how to mix all the pieces from each puzzle and decode the secret image which will answer the big question.…. and it's just a big picture of their company logo....I spent 10 years of my life!!!! for this?!!!!....no no no there must be another more deeper hidden message.... 10 more years go by.. A portal opens up …. little blue creatures appear..."Karen, you are the only human on the entire planet that has figured out our message. You and you alone will be spared of the things to come. They all disappear forgetting about the youtube live feed.

It's not that uncommon for one brand's puzzles to be manufactured by another entity. For example, French puzzle brand Nathan was printed by Ravensburger in the early - mid 1990s (years before Ravensburger ended up actually buying Nathan, which they continued, but with a drastically reduced product line). New Hampshire-based White Mountain puzzles are manufactured by a company in Holyoke, Mass., which also manufactures for other brands. The earliest Springbok puzzles from the mid-1960s were actually made by Waddingtons in England. More and more we are seeing small-press labels that don't actually have their own printing and pressing factories, just a vision for unique product line and packaging. Earlier this year, Russia's largest puzzle distributor, Stella, launched an eponymous art puzzle series licensed by the state Tretyakov Gallery, which is manufactured by a third party, probably Trefl. And the recent 4th edition of the "5000 Colours" puzzle (Clemens Habricht/Lamington Drive) is now being manufactured by Ravensburger. Eurographics puzzles are actually made in China. A small French brand, Grafika, is made in Poland and Turkey. So it's more common that you might think, but I'm not sure why they need to be so top-secret about it.

Wow, so much good info in this comment! I assumed that smaller companies like these would outsource their production, but this is the first time I've seen identical puzzle pieces from totally separate brands!

Something of note I discovered while watching this: Areaware has a separate puzzle series called “Puzzle in Puzzle” that you may be interested in, where there is a larger puzzle and a smaller puzzle within it. I’d love to see you do these, not as cool as a spaceship but still cool!

Would be nice to see educational puzzles. The fact that one can combine any picture with a puzzle is really powerful, exactly because the puzzle "forces" the puzzler to look at the picture better, rather than just glancing on it. Therefore educational puzzles should be promoted more.

Honestly? the only thing that surprises me about this "conspiracy" is that the practice is apparently uncommon enough that it took a lifelong jigsaw puzzle enthusiast like you this long before you came across a puzzle whose cut pattern you recognized from a previous puzzle. I had just assumed that anyone who regularly does different puzzles from the same manufacturer would eventually stumble across a puzzle with an identical cut pattern to one they'd done before. For this to be the first time you've noticed this, puzzle cut patterns must actually be a lot more unique than I'd expected. Also, I immediately went to Amazon & ordered that space flight puzzle when I saw it was still available. My interest in actual jigsaw puzzles is moderate, but the subject of that poster is definitely my jam.

Your my puzzle guru, cant wait to see you 1st original puzzle.

The cutting knives they put together (basically the entire grid worth of knives on a single large plate, for these not huge puzzles) are really big and expensive investments, so, yeah, they’ll use those things until they wear out. Whether that’s halfway through producing one puzzle or thirty different puzzles later varies.

The artwork looks very good; but I prefer less area of the same colour. Perhaps we all do. I agree with you about the uniformity of the pieces; I term them “horizontal” and “ vertical “ . If I had to choose one of those four , I would go for Meta Puzzle. I have a spare room in my house, so that I can always leave a puzzle in work on a five foot by three foot table. Often, my friend joins me for an hour, or so, and we can puzzle and talk. I prefer ‘busy” bright , interesting scenes , I have never , in all my years , seen people doing a jigsaw puzzle at a wedding Party. Thanks for that review.
