What changed was Ansel Keyes. He led a conference with the meat industry and grain industry. The decision was meat was healthier. He called everyone back in in the middle of the night and pointed out there is more profit in grains than beef. The food pyramid was created. Per Dr. Robin Wilcutt

i started to drop my carbs in food only, I kept my daily beer intake of about 6 stubbies a day, my inflammation in my joints plummeted in 3 days. I have noticed my dodgy shoulders feeling better as well, these symptoms I have had for near 3 decades, so Low Carb is definitely a powerful tool. This shit works. The reason I kept my drinking habit up was to see if the food side had any merit, have never had a weight problem so that part I will take with the ride if I lose 5kgs or so that will lean me up as I build muscle because I am over 50 now and it is a great preventer of muscle loss as you age.

that story in the end sounds like me. I went from 128kg down to 84kg, get into a binge, back to 96kg, back on lchf back to 80kg, anothe binge bak to 99kg and now doing lchf last 3 weeks down to 92kg. The hardest part is after having a carb meal, it takes strong will power for me about 4 days to beat food cravings.

animaljammer Thats bc your body RUNS ON GLUCOSE!!!!!! Carbs are an excellent source of calories if your body is healed. Only way to reverse insulin resistance is with a low fat high carb diet, and stick to it long enough to heal. I coach clients through the change, reach out if you would like help.

This is FASCINATING, and further proof that “ pre-civilization “ diets were based on, not just what was available, but on innate wisdom. Too bad these traditional diets faded as “ Western Supermarket Crap” became available. And it is unfortunately. now happening all over the world. I too was blessed to find Dr Atkins ideas in time to change my life! ❤️ And prevent the hideous underlying diseases caused by insulin resistance.

Ummmm...no we're not. IN schools, we have breakfast programs feeding granola bar trash and encourage students to snack 2 times a day in elementary school. Kids have probably eaten 4 high carb meals/snacks before they get home from school. breakfast-snack-lunch-snack -home.......(at home) dinner more snack??? Insulin resistance anyone????

CBC, BNP, Lipid Panel (T. chol, TG, HDL, LDL). If your doc wants a glucose tolerance test, request that a tube for insulin be drawn with each glucose draw. (Insulin is usually sent out for testing at a reference lab). Also, a urinalysis will show damage to kidneys (renal cells).

Atkins was out jogging, fell on ice and hit his head and then gained the weight while in hospital while on fluids. Vegans have been lying about it ever since, but lying comes naturally to vegans, so what can you expect.

Jen Holmes Why you vegan preachers don’t give yourselves a break and read The Vegetarian Myth, that would be a very much needed wake up call for you guys. You should learn to respect other people who are not religious zealots as you are. I was a vegan for 17y when I was very young and ignorant😖
@Eudaimonia239

this is why nutritonal science is in its current state, you have scientists doing pretty bad research, basing all of nutrition on weak science being funded by the food industry to lie and spread fear mongering only based on political and monetary incentives. then you have on the other side a bunch of Fanatics preaching about a diet that never existed (or would have )in the history of humanity as if it were a natural diet(I cringe when I hear that humans are frugivores or herbivores or whatever vore crap. I cringe hard). The way I like to look at it, is to ignore all this noise , and follow my intuition and common sense even ignoring some idiotic recommendations by authorities(fortunately by doing so I am the best shape of my life). At the end of the day truth doesnt care about any of this bickering, the body responds uniquely to certain foods and we are catching up to understand it(mainly due to the difficulty of the field and also because of huge misteps made along the way), and sadly vegans will realize soon enough that they are wrong from all sides, they are just too brainwashed to see it and dont have an ounce of humility to think "perhaps I am wrong on this one". Keep this comment in mind when you decide to wake up.
