Great vid bro - really caught the atmosphere up there but I think it deserves at least 3 parts Excellent work
@karlsthailandАй бұрын
Thanks Ian. At first I thought it would be one, long video but I had so much footage to edit. I would have loved to have hiked the jungle up there which would have made it a 3 parter but that leaves scope for a future video. Thanks for sharing you knowledge on camera.

Your video brings back some memories for me. Rode up Bokor 3 times between 2014 and 2023. Got my legs sunburned to a crisp the first two times until I learned how intense the rays can be up there despite the mist. Have seen it progress a bit over the years but never seen it anywhere near as busy as in your video. Re: City of Ghosts: first visited Cambodia in January 2001 and seen Matt Dillon with a couple of other in FCC during the making of that film. Still got the Lonely Planet Guide To South East Asia On A Shoestring which he signed (for my wife, of course). A pleasant chap. Didn't see Gérard Depardieu, though. I have subscribed and looking forward to Part 2.
@karlsthailandАй бұрын
What great memories you have. Yes, as I said in the video it’s so easy to get sunburned while riding a motorcycle. My first visit to Bokor was 2016, I’m glad I got to see it before there was too much development. Cheers

A great video Karl - thank you. It brought back many memories, I first went up Bokor in 2010 whilst staying in Kep, it hasn’t changed too much - other than the redevelopment of the hotel. You prob need to add that when you first went up to film that it was one of the busiest holidays in the Khmer calendar hence the traffic - the followup visit was the usual midweek tranquility. Note to all - dont go weekends or holidays if you can avoid it

walt disney at one point envisioned a modern "perfect" city named Epcot. i don't recall any details, but i think it was an attempt to solve all society's problems for the folks that lived there. the plan never developed, but just imagine if it had been built, then abandoned, and become a ghost town. that would have been worth a visit.

Yes Donald. I think very successful people like to use their wealth to create their dreams and sometimes it works and regardless of if it works or not it’s always on a huge scale. Cheers
