I genuinely hope people come to recognize and appreciate the profound complexity woven into Karnivool’s music. This isn’t just standard fare; we’re talking about meticulously crafted compositions and soundscapes that are truly one of a kind. Every element is thoughtfully placed, with each instrument harmonizing flawlessly with the others - an unmistakable display of both technical skill and artistic sensitivity. The virtuosity with which they play is impressive in its own right, but then there’s Ian Kenny’s voice, a rare and captivating presence that adds another dimension to their sound. His unique tone and emotional depth bring something powerful and irreplaceable to their music, solidifying Karnivool’s identity as a band that’s both sophisticated and refreshingly authentic. Discovering Karnivool has been a gift and I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to experience their extraordinary work. Their music not only stands out but resonates deeply, offering a listening experience that is as challenging as it is rewarding. Thank you, Karnivool, for the brilliance and dedication you bring to your craft! (31/10/2024)

When I first purchased this album, I was disappointed; it just seemed like it was missing so much that Sound Awake had. But it didn't take long for it to hit me how amazing the album is. A band being capable of changing their sound so dramatically one album after the other, while still retaining the aspects that make them incredible, is an amazing feat.
@SherryMathews7 жыл бұрын
This! I heard Themata and was hooked. When i heard Sound Awake I didn't think of it much until it grew on me and WOW everything stuck, you see how they moved a bit towards a different sound but keep the intensity. You see them grow each album.

There are a lot of bands that label themselves progressive, and while they might be in some aspects, they don't have that ability to become an almost entirely different band with each album (and, of course, still make solid music), something that Karnivool have no trouble with.

That outro has to be one of the most epic and beautiful mantras ever sang. It's incredibly rare to find something that well written, produced and executed in music. I like to believe I keep an open mind listening to every style of music and therefore a vast catalogue of music, however Karnivool pulled off something absolutely magical here with the entire song and particularly the outro - It's incredibly emotional in a way that can not be replicated - Wonderful song and amazing band.

This song (probably the album too) is more than fleeting catchy choruses and sweeping solos... it's a message, an idea, a concept, a thought process above that of these petty small minds that have to compare them to what's familiar and attempt to quantify what is outside of their intellect. I couldn't help but hear this in 3/4 when I first heard it, but I saw them at Download a couple of days ago and the drummer clicked in, and it totally changed my perception of the rhythm. I now hear it as 4/4 in triplets. The last word of "I know there's something wrong" falls on beat 1, and the second snare falls on beat 4. The whole thing is sort of swung in 4/4, and it keeps up that feel the whole way through - I love that it can be heard 2 ways though.

But by changing accents, dropping/adding beats, and adding that cymbal stack he made those beats sound completely different. Steve is simply BRILLIANT! :)

they also have some elements of deftones too in their sound, especially their guitar riffs.

This has got to be the greatest song of my generation. I will listen to this until the day I die. I've never felt this way about a song before. You guys are amazing. You should do a show in Ballarat, Victoria. I'd pay anything to hear this live. Congrats on the amazing new album!
