First season of Euphoria had many writers and it shows, there were tons of earned heartfelt moments to make the edgy stuff compelling. Then in season 2 he was the only writer and it became porn with teen characters, and now this garbage.

@@b_delta9725Actually, Sam Levinson was always the only writer for the show. He himself said at the premiere that he doesn’t have a writers room, and that he would be terrible at managing one. So all the writing on Euphoria, including the first season was him. Not sure why he went off the rails after he finished season 1 though.

Yup. The whole production fiasco and the show itself have both made me think less of Abel and Sam. Like ok, with Sam there were warning signs (season 2 of Euphoria, Malcolm and Marie) but what the fuck man, I didn't expect Abel to turn out to be such an out and out douche. Also he's such an awful actor! I've seen better acting in RDCworld skits. Hell, Mark from RDC could have 100% done a better job than him.

It’s sad how Jocelyn was seen as the villain and Tedros as the victim. It just shows how Sam Levinson is as a creator for making explicit content and making women belittled and vulnerable. Such as Cassie in season 2, when she was like “i belong to you and you can control whatever i do” seriously? who says that?
@ogmarker
@ogmarker 11 ай бұрын
I don’t get this, though? Would a better ending have been her cutting off her whole team, tragically losing her record deal/success, and mindlessly following Tedros around as he goes to find another member? I don’t think she was supposed to be “the villain” to his “victim” - I think considering how she caught on to this plan to potentially fuck her over, she acted quick and decided to introduce all this people as new artists for the label/that can open on her tour, and cut out the middleman - Tedros, who I never got an inclination to feel bad for. The very ending with them reconciling was a bizarre choice and is another conversation - but I don’t get how the character getting out ahead and showing she’s not one to fuck with, makes the character “belittled”
@MeliDMR93
@MeliDMR93 11 ай бұрын
@@ogmarkerI think 2 things give off this vibe, first that Tedros refuses money - sort of a 180 of the leeching vibes we had gotten to... now she's worth so much to him!. Second is all the other production choices: him looking dishevelled, sick, seated away from the rest of the group all alone, the fact that he catches on so late that the brush is brand new (just before she uses him publicly!), the show in itself closing with him at the end of all her double crossing, I do think the intent of that is to show humilliation of the character and sort end the thing on his victimization. I think there could be room for your interpretation but maybe with Tedros being less 😮 "omg 😢 you played me 😔😭" and more "we both played this game 🤨 and you were better 🤷🏻‍♀️". Not that I wanted more episodes of this travestry, but well more arguments about how abysmal the writing was.
@FallonFontaine

If you see Tedros as a victim then it’s only because Jocelyn had the last laugh. They literally pulled a "the victim was actually asking for it" with that ending. All that horrible stuff that was done to her? She secretly wanted that, and really doesn't that make poor little Tedros the REAL victim here?? If they wanted to tell a story about abuse in the industry from a male victim's perspective that would have been fascinating, because men are so often unfairly dismissed or even mocked for being victims. OF COURSE, there are women who lie and ruin men's lives, which, again, is why a MeToo series told from a male victim's perspective would have worked so well, and it's one we haven't really explored yet in the media. We would have been able to follow the victim as he wrestles with shame, insecurities and feelings of being trapped because society has little sympathy for men who aren't "strong enough" to defend themselves against sexual abuse. The (horrible) claim that the show needed a change because it was being told too much from a woman's perspective (which ..... bruh) made me think that this was what they wanted to do. To have the majority of the show be about a woman being abused and sexually exploited (for the camera) only for a last minute twist reveal that SHE was the manipulative abuser sends out a whole other message: that women who present themselves as victims shouldn't be trusted.

This show's ending made me mad. Not only did it not make any sense but the character "arc" that Jocleyn and Tedros both go through is undermined with its stupid ending. I think The Weeknd would be wise to stay out of the creative process for his film projects and remain solely as an Actor (he can show range especially in the last episode when he doesn't have atrocious dialogue). if not, he should continue his creative side through his music (which he has so much more of a stronger vision there) Hopefully his new project with Jenna Ortega will be a better acting performance
@thelastjerkbender2505
@thelastjerkbender2505 11 ай бұрын
Man, I'mma keep it real with you. I don't think that project is gonna pan out either and I'll tell you why. See, first of all, the project is being headed by Trey Edward Shulz and tbh he's a bit of a mixed bag. His first movie, Krisha is unanimously considered to be excellent but his following projects, It Comes at Night and Waves have been divisive. I personally thought Waves was flawed yet engaging but It Comes At Night was a complete snooze-fest. Second, Sam Levinson is a very flawed filmmaker to say the least and his output has been wildly inconsistent but in both seasons of Euphoria, he was able to get absolutely phenomenal performances out of the entire cast and he pulled it off with Lilly Rose-Depp here. Schulz was able to get pretty compelling performances out of his family members in Krisha but from what I understand, the story of the movie was inspired by incidents they were all familiar with, so that certainly helped, if Levinson couldn't pull it out of The Weeknd, I think Schulz will have a tall task at hand. Third, Barry Keoghan is gonna be in the movie too and that is what piqued my interest since he is easily my most favorite actor currently. I haven't seen any Jenna Ortega performance but my sister is a fan, so just going off of that, Abel is gonna look completely lost in front of both Keoghan and Ortega. Like that scene in Don't Worry Darling where Harry Styles' and Florence Pugh's characters are arguing and Pugh made Styles look like a complete amateur. That could very possibly be what Weeknd would look like in front of two highly skilled actors.

Right?" And, well, it turned out to be even more tone deaf that anyone had anticipated :p The show is almost never self-aware about the character's position within the world, and even when it is, its to subvert something else entirely and ends up leaving a message thats so far from what the story had been telling that it ends up falling flat at best and vile at worst

This show is a mockery of sexual violence victims, sexism within industry, and generally the most disgusting thing I've seen so far. It has really lost my hope for modern cinema. And the fact they scrapped the initial female director due to "too much of a female perspective" is so far the biggest step backwards for women in media this generation would've seen in contemporary pop culture. It has turned abuse and female suffering into the male gaze and fetishism. It also revealed to me the true nature and intention of Euphoria which I looked up to as a child, I now realise it's a disgusting portrayal of glamourised pedophilia. Whoever enjoyed watching high schoolers (For example, the character played by Sydney Sweeney) sexually performing even if it is acting, also happens to be excited by those ideas which it intends to portray.

Sam Levinson honestly gives me Harvey Weinstein vibes, while he doesn’t have the power that Harvey did at his peak, the vast majority of his projects are super edgy and pretty much pornographic. It’s even crazier that his father, Barry, made some really good stuff in his day (Rain Man, Good Morning Vietnam, and The Natural are classics) yet Sam is just out here trying to be an edge lord. Edit: My main reasoning for saying Sam is like Harvey is because if he’s comfortable putting exploitative content in front of viewers, then what is he doing behind the scenes if some of his actors and crew don’t like what they’re doing?
