Finally I found it! Thank you for actually listening to the song and giving us the actual real chords. It bothers me when I see all these tutorials and they’re the “basic” chords. No, I want the real way to play it. Great ears btw as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong. But aren't both version right. She's playing the basic chords and her second guitariat plays this fancy version over it?

Just to clarify, Kasey plays the basic version taught most of the time. Her guitar player plays this jazzed up version behind her. :)

Spot on man. When I initially listened to the song I was hearing 0301 from the A string to the B string on the 2nd chord (based on the 7th fret capo) and 2000 on the 4th chord (which both could put a twist on it), but this is identical to the record. Thanks a ton for this.

May I ask a favor? I entered this talented beard contest and if you are in the US, I could use your vote 🙂 The contest is sponsored by Wahl Grooming and they’ve been making great beard trimmers for 100 years and I could win up to $20,000 if I’m chosen for first place. I can most likely get there with your support and vote. It’s easy and no sign in required. You can actually vote from your cellphone service as well. Here is a link and let me know if you did so I can thank you woobox.com/g2fyud/gallery/taDnkZejNlo

What is the strumming pattern
@michaelsloan6454 Жыл бұрын
This is good. It's the only place on the web with the correct voicing. I even paid you for the effort. But it could have been great if you had played the song through and spent a few minutes on the unusual rhythm. To my ear it has a two measure unit: The strong beat is on the 3rd beat of the first measure and on the & of 1 and the & of 2 in the second. You strum it for about 10 seconds at the end of the lesson but I would have loved more. I'm not sure I'm ever going to really get it but I'd like a model. Can you augment?
@guitarlancer Жыл бұрын
I could take a look at it and maybe do an expanded lesson. Thanks for bringing it up.
@michaelsloan6454 Жыл бұрын
@@guitarlancer That would be great. It's just not a typical back beat pop song. Campfire players (like me) struggle with that kind of rhythm. PS - I'm pretty sure that the "additional chord (what you call the FM-add9) appears at the end of each couplet of each verse. PPS - sweet guitar.

Fmaj7add9. Why do so many others pretend it’s not there??? There’s one note in there that makes the whole damn progression. It’s what made me want to learn this. So, thank you. Edit: I guess that chord stands in for the C she plays. I’ve seen live performances where another guitarist has the capo on the 2nd fret. At least one other person includes that in their rheir lesson, but would be great here.

At her concert, I noticed the guitarist behind her was playing chords that were around the 7th fret, do you know what chords he was playing?
@guitarlancer5 жыл бұрын
I don't know, but follows the recording. I'd have to see it to figure it out. Obviously the hired guy didn't learn it exactly as the record.. IDK. You can get by with other chord voicings, but I deciphered this from the recording
@LucDiGiuseppe3 жыл бұрын
It’s exactly this! He’s playing the part from the record, likely upon the MD’s request. Her whole band usually plays it just as the record in full production, which is why her touring band is so big! :)

I have no reason to doubt that this is pretty much how it is played on the record. It sounds spot on. But I can't find any live footage of Kasey playing it like this. There is even a video of her doing the song in her living room looks like, and she is just playing open chords. The ones you see mentioned pretty much everywhere. Nice play though man, Tx!
@guitarlancer2 жыл бұрын
yes, she's only a modest guitar player and you can play this with the general chords for sure. This is most likely what was played in the studio by one of the professional musicians/
