One has to wonder how much knowledge humanity has lost. Preserving and practicing these techniques from our past is incredible.

I can't emphasize how grateful I was to find this video last year, seeing and instructional video on shooting off the right side of the bow without having to use the thumb. I'm still at it, using the Slavic release, and working toward holding extra arrows. Thank you so much for this tutorial, man

3:29 listen to what he says about the thumb. As for the anchor, I use my right ear with the arrows between; if it's that far along the side of my face (as opposed to using the corner of my mouth for Mediterranean draw) it swivels the aim to the left enough where you can still see the arrowhead and it should fly in the right direction. Plus, pulling it back that way---further than the lip---of course adds tension to the bow and gives the arrow an extra split second to adjust as it flies. Tricky, I admit. But if you're so used to the 'standard' three finger split grip, this is an easier way to adjust than using the thumb or something (I use that analogy 'cause I've tried probably a hundred times with a tough thumb guard)
I also pull with tumb finger over the nock and one finger or two below, so you can also twist the string and do bow tilt on release.

I shoot an angular bow with arrow on right side with khatra and this would be very useful. I hold the arrows in my bowhand which is faster than a quiver but this is more effective and with that pinky you are able to draw heavier bows as mine is 65 # at 32 inches. Plus my friend wanted to know how to hold more arrows while shooting that type of release because slavic and Mediterranean are quite similar and easy to learn. Thank you sir you have a new subscriber

Pretty sure that is what he uses, at least about 90% similar I'd say. As he's put it---"And there was someone who said that I mix together archery from different cultures, and that's true too, but I think it's a little more complicated". In his videos you can see him holding multiple arrows pretty much that same way in his draw hand and shooting fluidly and fast.

Thanks for filling up the blanks that I had in mind. This video has provided quite a lot of detail. How many pounds your bow is ? What specifically the bow is called? Do you use carbon fibre arrows aswell or you stick with wooden arrows?
@LAHBA6 жыл бұрын
Mihai shoots with his own design bow, the Living Arrow bow. The poundage of the bow in the video is 38 at 28" (max draw 28") He also shoots with same bow but 43 and 46 pounds at competitions. Mihai shoots only with carbon arrows, these are carbon too (if I remember correctly Traditional by Gold Tips)

I trained this style of draw for a while but could never get the same precision that I get with thumb draw or mediteranean. My feeling is that since the opening of my fingers goes into the direction of the bow, I the bow gives my arrows a kick to the right that is tough to account for and my Kathra seems insufficient to avoid it. Anyone else with the same problem or tips ?

Please explain us how to properly release the arrow with this type of draw so that it flies straight because sometimes it will go to the right too much.

Its probably because you have to compensate for the arrow going right since you're shooting off the right side

Can this method be used effectively with heavy poundage bows?
@faramund98654 жыл бұрын
It's funny to me how so many of these methods would seem 'impossible' 'ridiculous' and 'clunky' if it wasn't for the fact that you demonstrate them. When you grasped those arrows your pinky and ringfinger I thought to myself 'How the hell are you supposed to do THAT?'. But when you do it, it's effortless! Shows I guess how wrong instinct can be sometimes...

I am curious how the Turks shot their arrows thumb style with their historical arrows and not ruin their fletchings because they are way up there. Even slavic the fletchings are too close so your fingers are all over them. The arrows Mihai uses are modern arrows with lower fletchings.
