Katey and Kendra were running buddies, roommates, and best friends. They had that special bond friends share that unites them for a lifetime. But a terrible, wintry car accident changed that. Kendra was killed on impact, but Katey was left with not only difficult physical trauma but also the emotional scars that she survived the same accident that killed her best friend. Friends and family rejoiced in Katey’s physical progress, but all she could think about was “every step reminds you that she died, and you lived.” As she processed the grief, Katey realized that all she could do was trust God as He walked with her through it.

We lose people in so many ways, but they remain in our hearts forever. My husband died 12 years ago and I miss him every bit as much as my mom who just died on January 15th this year. We are changed but never "get over" them. I still celebrate my wedding anniversaries and always will. My heart is very much still married to him, as much as I will always be moms first born daughter. Let us be glad we are alive. One day we will see our lived ones again. God bless you all. 😭💝😳😢👍👼👼👼👼

My nephew is going through this very thing. His best friend was driving and the car left the road and hit a tree then a light pole. His friends seat belt broke from the impact and he was thrown out and killed on impact. My before had to be cut out from the car, his injuries although very bad but not life threatening. We didn't hear until hours later that Kyle didn't make it. Now we are trying to support my nephew through the stages of his grief. Kyle's mother has been a huge support and cheerleader for my nephews recovery and mental struggle. She has such a giving heart, her faith strong even during her own grief of losing her only son two days before mothers day 2019. I thank you for sharing your story, your help in knowing how to better help my nephew and our grief of losing Kyle. He was family to us. Sorry for your loss and the pain you've came through but I'm thankful you are here and doing well. You are an inspiration to those like my family that are going through similar pain. Pray you have safe travels and remain healthy and finding joy of the life you were blessed with

Thank you for sharing “Your Story”. I can’t imagine the heartache, physical pain, sadness of losing your best friend & the difficulties of recovery & moving forward at such a dark time in your life. But you DID IT WITH THE HELP OF GOD IN YOUR LIFE!! And I’m sure it’s taken so much courage to share the darkest time of your life with the world. But you did it & I truly believe that people should respect “your story” & the way you told it. For those that didn’t want to hear God or had other distasteful comments, it seems like you could rise to the place of respect & just not comment. I praise you for your courage, strength & purpose to continue your life to share your story. May God continue to bless you & know that she is your angel & you will be in my prayers as will her family.

I never understood survivors guilt. Ive lost ppl very close to me too but never thought for a moment, why them, how come I am still here, its not fair. We're only here for a short time and I feel that angels come into our lives, teach us things they have to learn and then leave..I'm grateful for having the ones I lost even for a short time. we can never get them back but we can remember them and accidents happen, Kendra would not want you to spend your life feeling sad and guilty. You never stop missing them but the pain does go enough to live your life ..I remember my boyfriend fondly and never think about what might have been. But I was happy to have him for short time and it was a very happy time.. I smile now when I think of him. You should too when you think of your wonderful friend ..

I hate survival guilt. Every story I hear the survivors always say that same sentence. She should have lived, she had more going for her. You are not less important because you have less going on in your life. Every one matters. I know they can’t help but feel that way. But no body can control the outcome of a terrible accident. You are a beautiful lady with so much going for you. I’m sorry you lost your best friend.

When God calls you home, that is not something you can change. You are in control of nothing, and all of the “if only’s” survivors torture themselves with are fruitless. Even if you were driving or even distracted and driving, she would have lived if God had wanted it that way. It doesn’t seem fair, and it hurts to the very core of your being, but you are not being called home yet, so you have huge purpose. Knowing that death can come at any moment has given you a unique insight into the importance of every single day you have here. Most of the rest of us treat that reality much too cavalierly. Thank you for sharing your faith!!!

Some people come into our lives and quickly leave. Others put "FOOTPRINTS" on our hearts 💕 and we are Never the same!!! I lost my Best Friend to Cancer in 1980. I miss her ALL the time. Listen to Ed Sheeran's song, "Super Market Flowers." He wrote it for his Gran. The lyrics say, "A heart that is missed is a life that was loved!" "Calling All Angels," by KD Lang and Jane, "LET IT Be," by Paul McCartney. His mother, Mary, died unexpectedly, came to him in a dream, and she told him, "Let it be, there will be an answer, and "Cissy's Song," by Alan Jackson help me with my grief. Love and prayers from Oregon.

You’re so strong. Last October I was driving my boyfriend and I home from a long weekend trip late at night. I was tired but didn’t feel that tired and was only 10 minutes from my house (after a 3 hour drive). I fell asleep while driving on the highway (probably going around 70-80mph). We flipped multiple times. My boyfriend wasn’t wearing his seatbelt. But we both climbed out of the car, completely uninjured. I haven’t been able to get over it and I’m approaching a year. I can’t imagine where I’d be or what I’d feel if my partner had died because of me. Stay strong

You Ask why, that's something that we'll never know the answer to. Only God can answer that question. But there is a reason as to why God let you live, your time here on Earth isn't finished and there are still things you need to full fill before going to our true home. Your friend is gone, that's painful and sad but she's in a much better place than we are. Go on with your life, I'm sure that's what she would have wanted you to do. Share your story with as many as you can and remember when doing so, not only will she be by your side, but so will God.

Only God can answer the question of why he chose to kill her friend instead of her? It's amusing how a baby falls off a roof and lands on grass and survives it's a "miracle" but when a whole building of thousands of people crumbles down killing everyone he "works in mysterious ways".
@greyberet1

@@greyberet1 The real mystery is why atheists continually feel the deep seeded need to troll religious commenters on the internet to the point that they deliberately seek out religious videos like this one on overtly religious channels just to shove their judgmental, angry, angsty 8th grade-level philosophical opinions in everyone's face. "But-but-but God can't be real because there's BAD in the world!!! You're STOOOPID!!" We know that it's hard for atheists to muster, but try a little kindness and respect for others, Larry.

@@smittysmeee Your post motivated me to reread my own post; I saw nothing unkind or disrespectful about it, unless you’re of the opinion that expressing disbelief in a “god” and surprise that humans still believe in such an entity, or whatever, is unkind and disrespectful. So as, far as you’re concerned, only persons who are believers are okay with expressing their opinions, all others must remain silent. Got it 😆!

Sandy Newton....I still remember you, your natural beauty, VERY beautiful, our happy -go -lucky outlook on life during our teenage years now tainted. We had to say goodbye to you with a "closed casket". 😥😢😭💔 Still love you kiddo! For me my survivor's guilt lasted over 40 years. My mom committed suicide. I always remember the day, because I came home drunk that night & went straight to bed. She was waiting for me to come home. I remember her coming out of her room & going downstairs. She soon after that went to the car & closed the garage door & died inhaling carbon monoxide. For 40 years I blamed myself, because I did not check on her seeing what she was doing. When I finally came to grips with it, I realized how could I know. The Lord blessed me with peace. I love & miss her, but He took that burden so I would be able to bear the guilt I had for this tragedy in my life.

G Joe it’s just the way some people handle anxiety or an awkward situation. Cameras in your face talking about a touchy subject with strangers, makes some act that way.
