I tried daniel smith watercolors for the first time a few days ago, and im definitely going to be trying them out more often

Thank you so much! The Art Nouveau set was my starting palette and it really got me hooked 😆 Yes I'm so excited to play with all those gorgeous greens! I can see the addiction happening already 😅

Katie, for your little stubs of pencils, you might consider getting a pencil extender. I got a set over here in the states. I think there are several brands, but Derwent make a set. I know you want to get as much mileage as possible from those expensive pencils! I know I do!

Katie! Please show us in a video when you do decide to fill and test your empty acrylic markers! I’m very curious about this process as I love to use Posca in my sketchbook but I’m not really a fan of their colours. Being able to mix my own would be a dream! (Also your short little pencil crayons are so cute 😆 if you don’t already have one, I do recommend a pencil extender to finish them off)

Looking forward to seeing how those generic acrylic paint markers perform after several months.

I'll be sure to report back and see how they compare after a few months of use once they're filled! 😄

A highlight of my Sunday! Glad to see your increasing interest in watercolor because that's my medium of choice, including watercolor pencils, crayons. But I also love using colored pencils with them and enjoy seeing your mixed media approach. You might really enjoy A Gallo watercolors. So-o-o beautiful...from Italy.

There’s just something special about using handmade watercolours. I just love the ones I have and it makes your artwork that much more unique. On the other hand…most of my watercolours are DS and Cascade Green, Aussie Red Gold, New Gamboge and Moonglow are some of my favourites. I picked up 3 new Neocolor II for my collection, yellow green, moss green and Chinese green. You were the one who got me started on the Caran D’Ache line and if I had to do it all over again I would definitely find my personal colour palette first with cheap supplies and then go out and pick the high end supplies piece by piece. This goes for the Luminance pencils and all other mediums. I can’t tell you how many sets (I’m sure you can lol!) of pencils etc that I wanted them all only to find I don’t use half the colours. In the end I think it would actually cost less to have top quality supplies that have been hand picked to suit my own particular style of art and get the use out of all of them as opposed to just some. I used to think picking one here one there was so expensive when you could get them so much cheaper by the set but it is actually such a smart way to purchase supplies and thanks to you that’s what I've been doing these past couple of years. All this to say I love watching your hauls! 🥰

I love your use of the word , “lurid"! It’s a perfect word for that color. Also, a little related, in the US, there used to be a character on cleaning products to indicate that they were toxic to consume. His name was Mr. Yuck," and he was that exact hue of Moltow’s "Mr. Green." 😂 I learn so much on every video you make, Katie. Thanks again.

So interesting to compare art supply prices in the US versus UK. Daniel Smith watercolor and gouache is much less expensive than Schmincke. Molotow markers are my favorites, especially Amazonas pale. Unfortunately, they are really expensive in the US as well. I would love to see a video on refilling and mixing your own colors for acrylic markers.

The Kuretake paints feel luxurious, even thought they're student-to-mid quality (def not lightfast). The candy feel of the palettes inspires art, perfect for sketchbook art. Enjoy them. I wonder if plain diluted acrylic paint (e.g. Liquitex Basics with added water) would work in the markers. I may have to give that a try. Do the nibs dry out pretty quickly? Thanks for the lovely video, as always. I love your rather modest hauls. It keeps the perspective that art doesn't have to be outrageously expensive. I have more Daniel Smith than I care to admit, way above my art skills, but they are some of the best. That little palette your friend gave you will make several paintings because DS are so pigmented. Cascade Green is one of the less expensive choices, at least in the US, Undersea Green, as well, which would be in your wheelhouse. Oh, Indigo is also a Series 1 DS. Lots of choices. Enjoy it all.

great haul! I recently bought that gansai tambi set too (because it was in sale and I wanted to try them out after seeing them in so many videos xD) Now I'm curious about your video about them (if you do one) All those green watercolors look awesome too. I mainly use Schmincke watercolors because they are the most affordable "professional" ones here - and they rewet great if you spray them with a bit of water 2-3 minutes before using them (or add a drop of water to each pan - but i find spraying them much easier - I use a small cosmetic sized spray bottle for that, but one for flowers would work too xD)

I own a handful of Amsterdam acrylic markers and never use them, because I have no idea which paper is smooth enough for them to not cruble and I hate that the markers paint so streaky🫠😕

I’m not sure sparkly watercolors are proper watercolors. The big manufacturers market them as craft supplies, not fine art.
@KatieMoody9 сағат бұрын
I'm not sure how they're marketed but even as craft supplies, I think they're great! Perfect for embellishing, especially for this festive time of year 🥰
