great video, helped me solve a couple of issues on my n scale Kato layout running Kato SD locos. Doesn't happen with the Scale Trains 44's though...

Good to know. I just got a scale trains dash 8 I believe. Will have to put it through it's paces if I ever get time. Thanks for comment 😀

Longer couplers on the loco(s) would help

Ok. I wonder what part number that would be 🤔. I went ahead and changed the track turnouts to normal for the back end industries. Seems fine now. Thanks for the input. I'll look into that 👍

This is a common complaint with KATO couplers. It happens when pushing or reversing longer runs of cars. Most advise switching over to micro train couplers for reliability. But the preferred method is to install body mounted couplers. Which can be costly. So another option is having yard leads with an entry and exit. This way you will be pulling cars. It does hinder the switching aspect. But you will still be able to switch smaller sets of freight cars. I personally leave the stock KATO couplers and keep the car lengths to 9 cars when switching. As always, they are plenty ways of skinning a cat !! So this is just some of the things I have learned along the way and wanted to share. Love the layout !

Awesome comments for everybody to read! Thanks. I've got you on the options and agree 100%. I couldn't help myself, so I busted the track up and put the large radius turns on the turnouts, and it is easier to back in the same number of cars into these lanes. They won't get any longer cause I'm out of room, LOL. Really appreciate the experience 👍

I have changed my kato couplers to Micro Trains couplers and I have no issues at this time. It’s a pretty simple fix. Thanks for sharing. Have a good day. 😎😎👍

Thanks for the info. I swapped one of my ES44AC's couplers with the 2004 micro trains and they are both higher than the MTL gauge and new rolling stock. I haven't seen anybody else mention that from 4 or 5 videos I've watched 🤷♂️

replace Kato couplers,Micro Trains long shank give you more wiggle room or body mount more of your freight cars.6 axle locomotives have more overhang, causing more pressure on adjacent couplers

Thanks! That's sure what I discovered during this video content. I need to see what the long shank version of what they recommend (2004 I believe) is

Try to avoid S curves, inviting problems unless you can put a short straight between

Thanks. That is the best way to approach track building for sure. The smaller the turn radius, the worse it gets also
