They are definitely highlighting the similarities between Daniel and the Boy. The actor that plays the boy also have a different hair colour in real life so they deliberately created that similarity. Great catch with the mark of the missing wedding ring on Daniel. He did say last episode that he lost someone.

Hey, guys! It's great that you're finding some time to film the reactions to 1899, with the baby and (probably) trying to get enough sleep. Really enjoying your reactions and theories. Can't wait for your reviews of the next four episodes! Btw, Kat's idea of eye colour's significance might be very on point, cause Aneurin Barnard, who plays Daniel, has green eyes in real life. Thus, in my opinion, the creators wanted to distinguish the boy and Daniel enough, using colored contact lenses, so the former Dark viewers won't go down "Ich bin du" route. But, that's only a theory.

Yes, it's also called your ring finger in English... didn't know it was the same in Danish as well! In English it goes thumb, index (finger), middle, ring, and pinky.

It's not just your channel that's having problems on KZbin. Lots of other people are experiencing the same thing with their channels. It's a big problem right now. Many people including me, aren't even getting notifications now either. No one knows why. Extremely frustrating. Off topic... Kat's lipstick/hair/blanket colour matched the palette print in the background. Well done. 😉

For Jerome, yes I would say he and Lucien were in a colonial regiment in possibly Algeria or Morocco. For the Danes, I have seen more than one family where a child was favoured terribly, but Krestler's mother is atrocious. Very interesting post-watch discussion!

Loving these reactions! I will say, though, I think that a lot of the characters learn to understand each other through the language barrier, not direct translations. Like Olek and Ying Li, they kind of get each other despite speaking entirely different languages.

The show certainly does throw a lot of questions out there at you. It does feel like you're just along for the ride and not really able to form any theories. We know now that Netflix has dropped it but we'll see if it gets picked up for a second season.
