The making of Cozy | Introducing Europe's new old guitar

In a world abundant with guitars why would you create another one? Maybe there is no logic answer to this question. Maybe it is a sense of adventure, the drive to create something. Not because the world needs it. But because we have the creativity, the ambition and the opportunity to make some beautiful. And that is what happend at Kauffmann Guitars. In this short documentary we will show you how the Cozy came to be.
About Cozy
The shortest way to describe the Cozy guitar would be to say it has one basic design, it comes in five different versions and it brings you endless possibilities. All versions share the same body shape and neck. The variations are in the bridge and pickup configurations.
The Cozy is a modern and very playable guitar with a serious vintage vibe. You can trace its design elements all the way back to 1960’s. Because of the endless nitro color combinations and various aging levels, each Cozy is a unique instrument. Its appearance will certainly remind you of an old guitar.
But when you pick it up you will notice that this is a very well-designed and built guitar. Designed with the player in mind. The Cozy has an ergonomically shaped off-set body that kinda wraps around your body. It has a double contoured heal to make the upper regions of the fretboard easy to reach. And although it has a fairly large body the guitar is light. Most versions stay well below 2900 grams.
On the neck you will find the same philosophy. A nice round C shape contour with a 10” radius that will suit most players. The neck is built from roasted quarter sawn maple for greater stability and a smoother feel. The neck has a 25 ¼ scale and a six on one side tuner layout.
We have kept the electronics simple, one volume, one tone and a three-way switch is all you need. When we combine these standard Cozy features with our various bridge and pickup configurations very different models appear.

Ik vind het een tof ding en heb met veel plezier een Kauffmann Strat hier thuis, maar sinds wanneer is 2750 euro een betaalbare gitaar? Dat is 1000 euro meer dan een Kauffmann Telecaster of Strat of zelfs Jazzmaster. Waar zit die extra 1000 euro in deze gitaren?

Ontwerp, kwaliteit van gebruikte materialen en hardware en vooral de arbeid maken de prijs van een gitaar. De vraag is of die het waard is. Wij denken van wel. Maar kom dat vooral zelf bekijken en beluisteren.

Ik heb er persoonlijk een gespeeld bij guitarking in Boekel en ik wilde eigenlijk meteen niks anders meer. De Kauffmann cozy is een fenomenale gitaar! Ik vond de prijs best wel meevallen zelfs!

Tja, er zijn al heel veel bouwers en wij gitaristen zijn behoudend en accepteren maar weinig vernieuwing maar als je dan een poging doet waarom moet het uiteindelijk toch op iets lijken wat er al is. Vooral de headstock keuze snap ik niet. Het is nu een beetje Gibson en erg veel van Fender mix. Neemt niet weg dat ik het wel mooi vind maar ik vraag me echt af wat jullie toevoegen.

Over smaak valt niet te twisten. Je vindt iets mooi of juist niet. De Cozy combineert de beste elementen van een aantal klassiekers met een geweldige speel beleving. Kom gerust eens proberen en kijk of het iets toevoegt voor jou.

@@KauffmannGuitarStore Mijn reactie was een beetje zuur maar mijn bedoeling was niet om het af te kraken. Zoals ik ook al zei , ik vind het wel mooi maar blijft mijn oprechte vraag over waarom jullie er voor gekozen hebben om een headstock te gebruiken die heel veel op die van fender lijkt.
