I've been riding for about 25 years and I love my 24' KLX300. It's not the fastest or most powerful bike out there but it gets the job done and it is very fun and easy to ride. It will get you just about anywhere you want to go which includes getting into trouble if you're not careful . I have rode motocross, supercross, trails ,street and everything in between. This machine is fun and I recommend it.

I am driving 5 hours round trip Monday to pick up a 24 KLX 300! I’m super excited so I’ve been binging all the Klx content I can find! I’m 43, looking to get back into riding after a 26 year adulthood hiatus :D

Congrats! You are going to have a blast, these bikes will take you anywhere you wanna go.

At 51, I’ve had some pretty sick Kawasaki bikes. I raced MX and I had CRs and KX 2 strokes. Depending on the track that we would be racing on, determined which bike I would use. Raced 125 and 250. I got trophies from both red and green! My first street bike was the Ninja 600. sold that bike for the CBR600. This was back when they were first introduced. I owned an 87 XL250, my first dual sport. Then I quit riding for 20 years. When I got back into it in 2007 I had a DRZ400. Only had it for a couple of years and had to sell it due to finances. In 2021 I started looking for another one, because I really liked it. But that’s when I discovered the 300s CRF and KLX. For what I wanted a dual sport for, the TAT, I was sold on the 300 Rally. Traveling from one side of the country to the other, significant fuel capacity and wind protection was a must for me. I spent more than $2k on upgrades, but there just isn’t a dual sport that doesn’t require modifications to suit the rider. With that said, there aren’t any dual sports that I can think of that I don’t like. Most all are great bikes, once you set it up for yourself. But they not dirt bikes, and they not street bikes. But they sure are a blast!

I'm 56 and have been riding since I was a teenager. Through the years I have ridden many different bikes and have owned more that I can remember. Right now I own a Versys 650 and a KLX250s that I but a 331 kit in. The KLX is my favorite and gets ridden more than the Versys. Don't want to sell either one. It's nice to have a choice.
@airadaimagery692Ай бұрын
@@Kawboy13 I hear that. I wouldn’t want to sell either of those bikes either. You can go anywhere you wish between those two.. How’s that 331 big bore kit run? I plan to bore my 300, but probably won’t until next year.
@Kawboy13Ай бұрын
@@airadaimagery692 Runs GREAT! The Best thing I've ever done to a bike! Makes it feel like a bigger bike without it actually being any bigger in size. I did it at about 2,000 miles and the bike has 9,800 on it now. Runs perfect and burns no oil. Just did a valve check last week and was still in spec. I would highly recommend it. When riding the highway on a trip and going up into the mountains it just pulls with no problem. I don't have to gear down like I once did, and that's with it geared higher for a road trip too

Worst thing about the EXC500F and CRF450L isn't the pricing, it is the engine vibration. Just ridiculous anyone makes a motorcycle today with the level of vibration those bikes produce. Obviously their maintenance intervals suck too, as do their seats. That is why I sold mine 2 EXC500Fs and 1 CRF450L, and now ride a KLX300.
@DerekDualSport5 ай бұрын
Wow that is interesting. I’ve heard people complain about the vibration, but I didn’t realize just how bad it really is.

I have seriously been looking at the CRF450l. Glad I read this. Thanks. Not a fan of some vibration, nope, not a fan at all.

Been riding over 20 years, owned all kinds of motorcycles, sport bikes, adventure bikes, all kinds of duel sports. Bought a KLX300 what a fun motorcycle! Love it man, it’s not a Tenere. But it sure is fun and way way lighter which I can appreciate.

I bought a T7 and tried it first but for the places I wanted to go I just didn’t want to be dropping such a heavy bike. So I added a KLX to my stable and it is a lot of fun and I am no longer worried about having to pick it up. I should have probably bought the KLX first but at least I have a strong bike for long on road trips and a bike that I can use for exploring nothing to crazy but I have pushed it to close to my limited abilities and it made me a better rider off the beaten path.

Looking to get my first dual sport. I wanna travel the roads less traveled and explore new places. Only trouble I’m having is which bike to get. I’ve narrowed it down to the klx300 and the drz400. Ik whichever one I choose I’m gonna have a blast. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!!! Love the channel bro 🤙
@Gerb3k3 ай бұрын
Ik both have their pros and cons but just wanna hear from someone that knows a lot about dual sports
@DerekDualSport3 ай бұрын
I agree that you will have a blast on either one. I like that the KLX is a bit more modern with fuel injection etc. The Drz’s have not changed a thing in a long time so there is a lot more aftermarket parts available for the DRZ. I tell ya I’ve taken the KLX 300 all over the place it’ll definitely get you down those places less traveled.
@Max-ye9xg2 ай бұрын
I think the DRZ400 only has four gears might want to look into that I heard that's a big complaint
@Kawboy13Ай бұрын
I've been ridding for 40 years and have tried out just about everything. Stay away from the DRZ400. It's heavy and has a close ratio 5 speed trans. 1st gear will make you feel like it'll do 30 mph. In the woods......that aint good. Also, the engine side cases/covers are plastic. The bike hasn't changed since 2000. I have a KLX with a 331 big bore kit in it and love it! I shouldn't love and earthly thing, but I do. ;-)

I move around quite a bit to different altitudes. From 1500 ft to 9,000 ft and everywhere in between , and mine runs great wherever I go. I e done all the performance mods you talked about and more and changed the front sprocket to a 15t and itsmuch better on the hyway because I do ride hyway more than I thought I would. I love the versatility.

I ride the KLX. You’re not missing much. They are so similar. Other than the KLX has better suspension (more adjustable.) But the CRF has a WAY bigger aftermarket parts supply. And honesty, I feel the KLX is underpowered. If you ever need to lift the front end up to get over a puddle or small woop, it’s impossible with throttle only.

I had one, why shouldnt you buy one? Too Heavy, all the extra weight up high. Too hard to get a foot down if you are less than 6ft. Cant restart if you stall it without turning ingnition off then on. Other things you can fix, but those things you can't. Traded mine for beta xtrainer. So much better in every way and not much more money. Also can be street legal.
