I have a bit over 12k miles on my 2021 z900. I love it. I bought it with 900 miles on it and it already had the full akra exhaust and power commander 5. As for other mods, I installed the Shad 3P side pannier racks, a rear fender eliminator, new levers, frame sliders, GB engine covers, a Dynojet quickshifter, Evo radiator cover, enlarged kickstand foot (thus was way better than i thought, because that stupid kickstand is impossible to find while on the bike), and bar end mirrors. I have ridden to every state in the western US on it. It's so good.

@@lovelessissimo How’s the build quality? Heard it’s not up to the standard
@lovelessissimo

@drk7885 I guess that depends on what you mean by "the standard". I just finished another 1200 mile tour with my buddy who rode a Multistrada, and now after switching bikes a couple times, he is now looking to buy a sport naked.
@lovelessissimo
@lovelessissimo Жыл бұрын
@drk7885 Honestly, the build quality is pretty good. Especially mechanically. Without rose colored glasses, its not perfect. It has some cheap plastics, the sloping seat pushes the tank into the buddies, it's kind of heavy, the kickstand is too short, and it really could use some stronger brakes. But the engine with a full akra exhaust sounds like an F1 car. It pulls from every gear, and it induces a smile every time you hammer the throttle in third. It's confidently planted in corners, and power wheelies out if you want. It's a great bike. All the complaints about it are that it's boring. Put an exhaust on it and I challenge you to say it's boring.

Have a '22 black and blue Z900. Instead of an extended rack and topbox, I opted for the Hepco and Becker Sportrack that replaces the pillion seat with a turn of a key. Looks excellent and you can tie a 30 liter bag or box on it. I also installed a rotopax mount and put a 2 gallon rotopax fuel canister on it for long rides. Really increases surface area for a platform to strap things to. Take the fuel can off quickly when not in use. Can put back pillion seat in seconds.Doesn't ruin the look of the Z. Very happy with this jet.

About the scratches on your TFT display, I have a Z650 with the same display. It is susceptible to scratching, but if you get yourself a bottle of Meguiar's PlastX clear plastic cleaner & polish, you can easily polish out most marks as long as they aren't deep scratches. The Kawasaki dealer scratched mine before delivery by being too forceful with their pre-delivery cleaning, and the Meguiar's PlastX cleaned that right up. Just use a very soft cotton cloth like a microfiber cloth and that should do the trick. I also use the PlastX on helmet visors, headlight lenses, etc. It's great stuff.

I am picking mine up in three days! I work at the dealership and got an amazing deal on a 2023 in Black Metallic Sparkle. I chose this machine over a variety of Ducati's on the other side of the showroom. The stats are great, Kawi handling is legendary and the engine is a bullet proof rock made of badassery. Been riding 40 years but I am new to the brand. After getting a new KLX300R I was impressed enough with the fit and finish to give them a try on the street. BTW, get yer hand back in the bar. I hate when people say rather a bike a for beginning or not. Dude just know your self and your limits. You can start on anything you wish too. Take MSF and take it easy. I'm saying this very bluntly and intend no disrespect. You've not trained a beginner who's got little natural talent or is a little bit scared of the bike. Most people will have some apprehension the first time they ride. You don't want these kinds of riders on this sort of bike. I agree there's many riders who could start on a z900 but there's more who would struggle. We don't know who's going to read this so it's better not to tell everyone is doable.

Another thing to mention is that I also have a Givi V47 top box for my Z650. The mounting bracket is obviously different and I also have a different mounting plate which is the GIVI M7 Monokey model. I have had no issues with any rattling or noise from my top box, and perhaps the reason is the different plate. You might try putting some adhesive tape backed foam padding on your plate and then put the box in place and see if the added tension from the padding helps with your rattle. Or perhaps look into that different plate model as a replacement.

Hi mate how did you find the power this vs the street triple
@TheBikeFather
@TheBikeFather Жыл бұрын
Hard to say. Power wise they are very similar, I think Street Triple has 118 hp vs 123 hp on z900, however, because the street triple is lighter , so it will feel more agile. But I felt like the street triple was tuned for mid-high end power, which meant I had to twist the throttle a lot more to get that power, whilst the z900 it was probably more on the lower end, so as soon as you twist the throttle, you feel the kick, so it's more responsive. At this price range I still find the Z900 a good all rounder. I don't like the looks of the street triple, but I do agree that it is lighter, probably more agile especially filtering through London, and probably using better quality parts, but of course, that comes at a cost, as it's more expensive than the z900.

But, the bike is exhilarating to ride as is. Fortunately, I also have a 2021 Z900 RS which is set up the way I want it. A really good video. I checked it out to get some help. I have a Z900 21 (cheap from my brother-in-law) and a Street RS 2022 and one of them has to go. I think I'll keep the street. Simply because the Z is a bit sluggish and less stable in comparison. Also amazingly enough the street is more convenient. regarding the problem with POWER/KTRC error. I have the same problem. I discussed it with the importer's service here in the Czech Republic. they asked kawasaki for an explanation. answer - this is a safety measure that monitors the loss of information from the throthle. this will also happen when the engine is cold, the choke is open - approx. 2 minutes after starting the engine and during this time the throttle will turn in the opposite direction- beyond the idle position, just for few micrometers, e.g. when holding the handlebars and pushing the motorcycle forward. throttle reports invalid negative value which is evaluated as error. it's stupid but that's how the Japanese engineers designed it.

Nothing to worry about, normally goes over time, but the traction control wouldn't work whilst this light is on. so there is a certain procedure, sequence you can follow to speed up the reset of that sensor. I can't remember exactly, but I know it was a very common problem. 1. I would need to turn on the bike and leave it idle for at least 1-2 mins I think. 2. then I would need to ride at least 30-40mph for 10-15 mins. - with no stops, so make sure you find a motorway or something. 3. Then I would stop, turn of the engine, wait about a minute - and then start with Step 1 again. 4. You would do this steps 1,2,3, I think 3 times, and then the engine light would go off and everything would go back to normal. It's annoying, but it didn't happen too often.. maybe twice in 6 months period.

I would go with the smaller one. Simply because it’s probably cheaper, the insurance will be cheaper, and still plenty of power - max speed is around 110mph. You’ll never need that much, but just proves it’s more than capable of doing motorway speeds.

I'm an absolute beginner, I've been riding a 150cc cubby Honda RS-X for only about 6 months now and I plan to get this bike sometime next year. So by then I would've had around 1.5 years on a simple 150cc bike. I know this will not be a good bike for me with my experience level, but my financial situation tells me to get a bigger, more powerful bike now instead of having to spend more money and upgrade again later. As it is, I've already outgrown the measly power of my 150 bike. feels kind of sluggish and not very comfortable to ride on highways. I'll just get the bike and take it slow, take my time to learn and get used to it. I'm guessing that should be fine.
@TheBikeFather

It's up to you . but I would probably suggest for going for the 650 model. it's cheaper to start with and easier to handle. and still a proper big bike. not to mention that smaller engine, cheaper insurance. And after a few more years, once you ready, you can always part exchange for a z900. Ride safe.

@@TheBikeFather makes sense too. I've had the opportunity to ride the z650 and it's was actually quite manageable for me, and much more powerful and comfortable than my current bike. I might consider the z650 too tbh

@TheBikeFather it is tho. It's a small parallel twin engine bike, it's not an opinion it's a fact. The Ninja 400 has almost the exact same hp and torque and it's a beginner bike, therefore the cbr500r is a beginner bike.
@TheBikeFather
@TheBikeFather Жыл бұрын
@BlueSuns1 😂😂 why? just because it's not 600cc or 1000cc? They weight exactly the same as bigger CC bikes, and in fact, the parallel twin engines on these 500cc bikes are tuned for lower end power, which means, by the time you accelerate on a 1000c inline 4, the 500cc bike is long gone.. Sure, you'll catch up. and you'll do 150-200 miles per hour or whatever, but on the roads, you won't need more than 70 miles per hour. So the 500cc bike I had was more than capable to keep up with all the other bikes. In fact the top speed on a CBR500R is around 110miles per hour. More than you'll ever need. Is it a beginner’s bike? Yes definitely, a very good beginners bike, but also a big bike. My current bike is 1745cc and can also do 110mph, no more than this. Does that mean it’s not a big bike? What makes a big bike? The cc , the weight, the speed?
@Kawasaki10rr
@Kawasaki10rr Жыл бұрын
@TheBikeFather big bikes are mainly called that because of the cc and how much power they put out, it never has to with the physical size of the bike. A cbr500r is a small beginner bike, it only has like 40hp and 30lb-ft of torque
@TheBikeFather
@TheBikeFather Жыл бұрын
@@Kawasaki10rr what you're saying is very subjective, unless you specifically invented the term "big bike" and set clear rules of why they are called that. I've already proved in my previous comment that the CC is irrelevant, because the CBR500R with a 500cc engine can go as fast as my harley which is 1745cc. anyway. we'll agree to disagree. That's your opinion, this is my opinion. let's leave it at that. I would understand if we were debating a 125 who can't even do the speed limit, or maybe a 300cc who can just about do the speed limit fo 70mph, but come on.. the cbr500r can do 116mph. More than you'll need on roads. so as far as I'm concerned, this is a great BIG beginners bike :) But as I said, you're entitled to your opinion and I respect that.

@@exothermal.sprocket You completely miss the point of my comment. The side profile is the most ugly looking part with a huge top box... looks stupid. @exothermal.sprocket
@exothermal.sprocket Жыл бұрын
@@twotone3426 You made a point that is by nature very subjective, and that's fine, you've every right to do that and I understood it from that perspective. I made a counterpoint that is more of a functional nature. Side cases have some downsides as well, those being increasing drag profile and reducing fuel economy for long trips which is what bags are designed to be used for in the first place. Also there's a lack of passenger function in most cases. Aesthetics don't much matter when you're out of a city riding solo and you're the one driving. Who cares what other people think if something is working well for your needs. I've run a long distance ride once, 4500 miles on 2nd gen modified FZ1. Would love to do something like that again sometime. I personally hate the effect of gear hanging on the bike, taking up seating room and changing the weight balance of the bike. I wish there were more options for mono-wheel trailers than there is. I only know of two "companies" making them, one who is basically a freelance single man operation and another which seems more aesthetic and less functional than the former. The idea of having good/plenty of space, having that thing low profile, low CG weight, trailing behind in the slip stream, and barely affecting handling at all is cool; pull a pin and let it sit at a campsite while you're off ripping up good roads without all the gear and mess affecting balance. Or use it to haul firewood, or use it for extra fuel and water, or use it for waterproofs and extra tent/camping amenities whatever. All that weight hanging high and rearward on a bike just messes up the handling and increases drag.
@MrFoxfire510
@MrFoxfire510 Жыл бұрын
@@exothermal.sprocket I did not read your entire comment but will say that in my experience with my previous 2017 yamaha fj09 that the top case which was about 40 liters in size or bigger, caused more air turbulence and fuel efficiency cost than having 2 hard side bags that were about 22 liters each. With the top case and only 1 person on the bike there is a gap between the rider and the top cause causing air to run there and be turbulent. Then I tried with just the hard side bags on and it was a much more noticeably smoother ride.
@exothermal.sprocket
@exothermal.sprocket Жыл бұрын
@@MrFoxfire510 Yeah I'd say it's a combination of weight and air stream issues. The worst place for weight is high and as far away from the CG of the bike as possible, and the top box can be both. Side cases are lower and more forward, regardless of total air drag. I'd rather run a mono-wheel trailer like a SherpaX or similar.
