For all of you 2016+ ZX10R owners out there, the only thing I didn't like about mine were the brakes! I tried brake lines (Galfer) , different pads (Brembo SC), Replaced the discs...no change! only thing that made a night and day change was installing the Brembo 19 RCS Master Cylinder! Much much better feel and lots stronger initial bite! Worth the investment for sure!
@Xmasochist8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the update, MCN! Have had my 2016 ZX-10R for about a year now, and it's been nothing but pure joy in every ride. No issues so far with the bike, though I do get what's been said about the brakes. They don't have as much initial bite as other bikes with Brembos I've ridden, but they're plenty strong when you grab a handful. My bike only has a few mods as yet, a Puig windscreen, Evotech tail tidy and radiator guard, and Akrapovic slip-on, but it's mostly for street riding so I haven't gone all out with turning it into a proper track machine. I did notice a bit more grunt even with just that little slip-on. This year it will see more track time, so might finally go for a full system and tune.

did you read up? there was a post that says this "It's not the callipers, its the pads and air in the system from factory. Using a Mityvac, Motul 5.1 Brake Fluid and sealing the bleed screw threads with anti-seize, we reduced lever dead zone play 50%. Next we installed EBC sintered pads, and the brakes were almost too sharp. I'm blown away so many people are bitching about these brakes, and no one has vac bled them yet." I'm looking at picking up a 2017 and this is throwing me off.

@Kneedragon19628 жыл бұрын
I spent a couple of hours on the '12 model, when that was new. I loved the way it rode and handled. I liked the top end, but low down & mid-range were terrible. At the time I had a ZX14 and an R6 track bike, and I think the R6 had more low end and midrange. When the opportunity is there and you can ride it like you stole it, it suddenly works. That's what it was *made* for. The tame mid-range makes you more aggressive with the throttle, and you consciously start carrying more corner speed, like a 600 or a 400, and it is a very fast bike and very easy to ride. But around the houses and the town, when the car behind you has "police" on the side, it sucks. As an every-day urban bike I would rate my ZX14 as much better. I just wish the 14 cornered like the 10R...

Same could be said about any used bike... You're probably better off buying one NOT by a long term recipient because the reviewer is likely to do track days and stuff and flog the hell out of it (it's not their bike) while somebody who buys it new is likely to baby it b/c they don't buy it with the intention of selling it, they buy with the intention of keeping it.

Consider that an engine is *breathing*. It inhales air, mixes it with fuel, burns it and exhales. Limiting the intake or exhaust is enough to completely ruin an engine's performance. Honestly? I consider this 10% decrease in power to be quite small. I expected more.

He says in the video he turned the ABS off and there was no difference. All modern superbikes have ABS and they have never stopped better...
@sjaakvandam21708 жыл бұрын
Yeah i totally get that. Although alot of manufacturers were making ABS bikes before they became obligatory here. It is kind of anti free market, but if you dont want it you just turn it off. The volume of bikes produced with ABS now will probably mean the cost goes way down per bike, although it will still be more expensive. By the way, MCN's abs test with the fireblade basically proved that unless you are a professional rider ABS will always stop you faster, let alone safer and easier. I Consider it a must have. And yes, i know how to operate a breaking lever properly lol.

@neevesybikes8 жыл бұрын
Kevin Clark Kevin Clark fair play, we must ride wildly differently, then. Why would I lie about tyre mileage? What tyres have you used?
@kevinclark50868 жыл бұрын
Mentioned in this video the racetec RR but I've noticed these claims in other videos. I may of put my point across crudely so I apologise for that. But 6000 miles out of a rear is unheard of from anyone I ride with.
@neevesybikes8 жыл бұрын
Kevin Clark no worries, Kevin. It's hard to believe how durable some of the latest tyres are: 3000-miles out of a Racetec RR last year on my R1 (track and road), 3500 out of a Diablo Rosso III on my ZX-10R - hardly worn when I replaced them (to test some more tyres) and an easy 6k on Metz Roadtec 01 sports touring tyres. Some don't wear very well. The original Bridgestone RS10s were squaring off at 1500...
