You were right with the difference between trolling and trawling Robbie, trolling is trailing a a lure behind a moving boat and trawling is dragging a net across the bottom. Trust me, I know, I was a trawler skipper here in Spencer Gulf for many years catching prawns. Every time I see someone throw a lure out and tow it behind their boat and say they're trawling I cringe big time.
@robbiefishing
@robbiefishing Жыл бұрын
Hahaha that's funny. Thanks Mick. Most people couldn't care less but because you worked in that industry it grates you. 🤣🤣 My best mate Sandy (Camo man) is a competitive kayak paddler. He can't stand it when people call paddles oars. 🤣🤣 I love taking weather photos. Weather nerds absolutely HATE IT when the news and weather reports use the word "mini tornado". Hahaha 😂
@mickssouthaussieadventures1631
@mickssouthaussieadventures1631 Жыл бұрын
@@robbiefishing Same mate, I also love taking weather photos and yes, sometimes mini tornados happen. A lot don't believe in waterspouts either but I've seen 3 of them at the bottom of the gulf here, one was so close it threw us around and broke the warp wire towing one of our nets.
@robbiefishing
@robbiefishing Жыл бұрын
@@mickssouthaussieadventures1631 WOW That would be super scary. Water spouts definitely do happen that's for sure. With the tornados, these guys are tech nerds. They say "You either have one or you don't". So if it's a small tornado it is a F1 tornado. I laugh when I hear newsreaders say mini tornado, just because I know how my weather nerd friends will react. Haha
@mickssouthaussieadventures1631
@mickssouthaussieadventures1631 Жыл бұрын
@@robbiefishing yeah, it was scary. When you have 2 long booms hanging out the side of the boat and each one towing nets and one snaps the boat goes into a very hard turn with a severe list to the side. Very scary.

When to Use Troll Definition of trolling---Definition of trawling definition. What does troll mean? Troll has two meanings that are easy to confuse with trawl. One of them is to search for information, like in the sentence below, While writing his research paper, Kendrick trolled the Internet for peer-reviewed articles. Troll can also mean to drag something through the water, especially in the case of fishing with a lure. A trolling motor is commonly used by fisherman for such purposes. For example, Salvador and Jermaine went out trolling for steelhead in Salvador’s new fishing boat. Troll can also mean several other things, including to bother someone on purpose and to sing loudly, two meanings that may have some overlap. Neither of these meanings are easily confused with trawl, though. Troll is also a noun, where it means an ugly mythical creature that is depicted as either very small or very large. When to use Trawl trawling versus trolling What does trawl mean? Trawl is a verb. It has two main meanings: to search for something and to fish by dragging a net through the water. Here are some example sentences, Catie and Bartholomew went trawling for catfish on Sands Lake, but only caught weeds. Egbert went to the library to trawl through the newspaper files in search of historical evidence for his thesis. Courtesy of Writing Explained
