How awesome is that! Did you get the yellowtail trolling a live mackerel?🎣😃

The beauty of owning Stealth is that even if you end going for a swim, all your gear is safe and dry! I rarely get knocked out the kayak paddling out through the surf... but coming back in is a different story!🎣🤣🤣

Wow! I’ve been having good luck with the Nomad DTX Floating Minnow 140 deep diver at my local beach! I’m going to definitely have to try using that at La Jolla!🎣😃

facing the surf (reverse entry) when landing is a good skill to learn. Also belly down surfboard style paddling when launching through surf to keep cg low and weight forward to punch through surf.

I'm liking the rolling stand you have your kayak on. What crossbars are those? Padded?
@losthorizonfishing107
@losthorizonfishing107 3 жыл бұрын
I used 3/4” rigid pipe and fittings: 2 = 3 foot pieces 4 = 2 foot pieces 2 = 3/4” pipe flanges 2 = 3/4” T Connectors For padding, I used 4” diameter hollow pool noodles slipped over the 3/4” pipe. The wooden base is a simple design made from redwood using urethane lockable wheels (castors). I actually made it just before making the 958 mile, one day, round trip drive to pick up the Stealth from the Northern California distributor. It actually ended being perfect for rolling around that 18 foot long beast! The Stealth is not very heavy, but because of length it’s tricky to pick up and move around!🎣😃

I’ve had that thing for a couple of years, I rarely use it. I definitely prefer the Hobie Revolution 13 for Harbor fishing and it’s hard to beat the Stealth for launching off the beach.🎣😃

Excellent advice Dan; I'm planning to fish La Jolla over the summer so this was quite helpful! Hey is that Pro Angler new? I thought you only had the Revo and Stealth kayaks
@losthorizonfishing107
@losthorizonfishing107 3 жыл бұрын
No... the Pro Angler is a couple of years old. I almost never use it. I much prefer the Hobie Revolution 13, it weighs way less and it’s easier to haul around! Let me know when you head down to La Jolla! They are definitely getting yellowtail down there now!🎣😃

Great video, Dan. Have you lunched from Dog Beach, and if so, do you find that to be an easier launch than Bolsa Chica? Also, how close can you fish the oil rigs off HB without problem from the personnel? Thx.
@losthorizonfishing107
@losthorizonfishing107 3 жыл бұрын
Typically Bolsa will be a foot smaller than the Cliffs (Dog Beach). If Dog Beach is 3-4 foot, you can usually count on Bolsa being 2-3 foot. My friend Steve launches his Hobie Outback from Dog Beach all the time. Steve is literally the only other kayak fisherman that I’ve ever seen out there. I’ve never had an issue with Coast Guard, OC Sheriffs, or oil rig personnel. As long as the swell is small, I get really close, but legally vessels can be no closer than 300 feet. I’ve never seen anyone asked to leave or get a ticket, but I’m sure it’s possible. It’s one of those things that you do at your own risk. I would never want to tell you it’s okay, because I would feel bad if you got a ticket.🎣😃

Love you content! I have a revo 13 and waiting on a Fisha 460. How did you go about mounting your Lowrance on the Fisha?
@losthorizonfishing107
@losthorizonfishing107 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Cliff I have my transducer epoxied inside the bottom of the hull. It works great, but the downscan feature does not work with the transducer mounted inside the hull. The water temperature is also not accurate. The sonar works perfect, mapping, gps, and speed all work great too. I hang a Nocqua 10ah Lithium Battery in the fish hatch on bungee cord used to support the rod butts. You will love your new Fisha 460! 🎣😃

@@losthorizonfishing107 thanks for the tip on the transducer mounting Dan! I’m going to run into that for sure. Was actually curious about your FF unit on the hatch cover...Velcro?
@losthorizonfishing107
@losthorizonfishing107 3 жыл бұрын
@@HazardousCliff yeah the Velcro actually works great! You just peal it off the hatch cover and you’re ready for the run back to the beach with nothing exposed on the outside of the kayak. 🎣😃

So I’m in the same fishing region as you in OC. I’d like to surf launch out of Bolsa more often but how do you determine where you launch where the surf break isn’t so deep or do you just go regardless? I use a Stealth as well.
@losthorizonfishing107
@losthorizonfishing107 5 ай бұрын
I almost always launch at Tower 17, which is about 200 yards north of the little jetty. Fortunately, the deep trench that was just a few feet off the beach has filled in nicely, which makes the launch mush less challenging. However, as you can see from watching my videos, Bolsa is not a flat beach, so coming back to the beach is always a fun adventure. The best thing about fishing from a Stealth is even if you end up in the water while negotiating the surf, all your gear stays safe and dry! Which model Stealth are you fishing out of?🎣😃

@@losthorizonfishing107 I appreciate the tip! And definitely have flipped over a few times from other places haha just trying to be better every time! I’m fishing a Stealth Fusion 480 but eventually want to go up to a ProFisha 475 😊
@losthorizonfishing107
@losthorizonfishing107 5 ай бұрын
For launching at Bolsa, I would recommend going on a morning when the tide is really low… the lower the better. You also want to pick a day when the surf report indicates 1-2 foot or 2-3 foot. Another thing that can be helpful is to pick a day when the short interval wind swell is under 2 feet or if you’re really lucky a morning where there is no short interval wind swell. The Stealth fusion 480 is an awesome fishing machine and an excellent choice for open ocean kayak fishing! All your fishing gear is safe and secure inside the hull and you will be much safer in windy, white capped, ocean conditions.
