Wow, I didn't realize that you were up here fishing in my neck of the woods. I grew up in Westerville which is nearby Hoover Reservoir. Unfortunately here in Ohio there are very few bodies of water that contain Blue cats. Our predominant species of catfish here is your "favorite" the channel catfish, although there is good Flathead catfishing waters here as well. Unfortunately we don't have skipjack native to here, so, mostly used shad, bluegill, or crappie for cut bait. The other thing that you might be interested to know is this year is the first year that the state permits fisherman to used up to 3 poles at a time. Before that it was always 2 poles maximum. I hope you did well in the tournament. Thanks for coming up here.

Wow! I have lived here in Ohio most of my adult life (july will be 45 y/o). It has always been a 2 line limit. Had to go look it up, and sure enough as of this year it's now a 3 line limit. HELL YEA!!! =)

Come try the Muskingum River here in Ohio. Ppl kayak up and down it all the time and it’s a great catfishing river.

A few more miles and you will be at Indian Lake the second largest freshwater in Ohio. They have had an allergy causing a weed growth that they are fighting. It has the water very clear and areas where they haven't been clearing it. So some areas are covered with weeds and other areas that are clear. The reports are the bite hasn't been affected and the catch is as good or better than normal. Give it a try sometime and you will have a good time. Remember I have told you before the Lake is average of 4 to 6 feet deep. Holidays the Lake has a lot more pressure than other times. Channel cat are active when it rains and at nights. Most common breeds are active. They have a couple bass tournaments every year and the competition makes it a lot of fun!!

Awesome setups y'all have. Soon as you hooked that car on two pound test I was an ass and thought yeah that one is gone but you done very well for two pound test. I use the same line in 6lb line. Caught a 14 and 15 pound flats in the same night last year on it but then a monster hit and I didn't have a chance. But good line no doubt. Love ya catfish man id like to know how tournament day went. Everyone got you to Ohio after a year or two but I'd seriously like to see you go to the lake in Murphy NC. It shouldn't be that far from you. I'm 33 when I was 15 my dad hooked a cat we never seen fought it for 3 hours and 5 minutes and finally broke his line. Such an amazing Hugh lake with little houses on it. Muskie, blue cats, and flat heads get very big in there

Dude, you can't just come up in my backyard and not check in with me bro. We don't have many blues and they aren't old enough to be big yet. Flatheads are decent when you can find them but, we have channels that might change your mind on channels

When I used to live in Missouri I would fish around the boat landings on the Mississippi and pick up the flatheads that cruised through where people had cleaned all of their fish that day. Using rats caught at the grain elevators worked well too. Cats like rats.

About a year ago today me and my step-dad caught 2 gigantic fish. My step-dad caught about a 45 lb blue and as soon he released it I caught a 30 lb blue so hoover has some really massive fish also my step-dad caught a 2.5 lb crappie the other day. Also im only 10 years old

that first ohio blue cat on the ultra lite gave up a good fight , you prvailed tho thru the line to line tangle and got the line out the transducer , thats good stuff ...oh an btw anyone says fishing sucks in ohio just dont fish the right spots,or know proper tactics lol...thats wild ryan caught that 37 on double hook rig with both hooks in its mouth first ive heard that happen, also dont know to many that use double hook rig... 18 mins in imma just go ahead an say awesome vid an thanks again

If you want to catch decent Catfish in Ohio you gotta hit up Mosquito Lake or Ladue Reservoir. The state record Channel Catfish in Ohio was caught out of Ladue!

Ive fished the Ohio River for over 25 years and its going down hill fast. Used to go to the river w/o having bait. U could go down, catch skipjacks and get on a couple 30 lbers with nearly no effort. Now u can sit all day and be proud to catch a 5 lber. The paylakes have just about wiped it out. Even the skipjack population and went downhill. U can still catch em here and there. But u used to be able to catch the fire outt em. Now theres 200 ppl lined up on the bank and theyll keep 3 coolers full and go sell em to the paylakes. Its pretty outta control.

I’m watching this video and hear you mention bringing Skipjack for bait from home. I don’t know the rules in Ohio but most state regulations are against bringing any live bait from another state, sometimes just from another bony of water in the same state. I will assume your Skipjack was very dead and frozen which should allow the use of it. I love watching you fish and and have learned a few tricks from you. I’m not able to go very often but love to fish. I hope you won a few bucks in the tournament, haven’t found that video yet. I haven’t even finished this one yet! Have fun & good luck!!!!

I don't think the catfishing in Ohio is bad. It's not Alabama, Tennessee or any other southern State. The Ohio River in the Kentucky area has been hit hard by commercial fisherman which Kentucky has the regulations in that area. The Ohio River through West Virginia protects their fish. Ohio and West Virginia have similar catfish regulations. Hopefully Kentucky gets it straighten out. There are nice flatheads in Hoover also but not a big population. My friend caught a 70 pounder out of there

My husband and I have ALWAYS caught fish in Ohio especially at Bayshore in Oregon, Oh and right outside of Toledo. We caught over 30+ this weekend. So whoever said that catfishing sucks that’s a LIE. We use night crawlers, uncooked shrimp, and chicken liver.

Ohio ain't horrible fishing we usually fish like buckeye lake and deer Creek but for really good catfishing not huge but big there are some good catfish in Sandusky bay right below lake Erie it's awesome.

In Columbus?! If you want good catfishing in Ohio you need to go up to Bay View village in the Sandusky Bay. I know you hate channel rats but they are INSANE up there! Fishing off the point or in a boat. Both are crazy!
