I always do like the KCTU series. Must say that I recently found a need for a new screwdriver set (my old set being 25 years old, and with some missing drivers, and other oddball dustbin-quality interlopers that joined the family, it was time) and bought the 12pc Wiha heavy duties (purple) and the 6pc Felo wooden handle. Relied a lot on your reviews to help me arrive at the choice. Could not be more happy with them and with the service at KCTool. Love your channel and thanks for sharing all this stuff.

I use to use VDE stuff when working on battery banks, not because I was worried about the voltage but because I'd seen videos of tools being shorted out across terminals on a single leasure battery, it was explosive, to say the least.
@adamblock81396 жыл бұрын
I wished I had a VDE wrench when I was tightening the fuel return line on a marine diesel. Slippery diesel made me drop the wrench, which landed on the exposed positive lug of the alternator and thus shorting hot to the engine ground. The resulting DC arc made quite the light show and melted a hole in the alternator case. Luckily nothing worse than that happened, but if I ever own a boat again I will definitely pick up a VDE socket set. (Yes, I know plastic terminal lug boots should always be used. We had just bought the boat and I didn't notice they were missing.)

Coming from a guy that shorted an extension bar from a grounded rack to the posative terminal of a 8 x 200 AH 12 volt batteries wired in series once and scared the living s**t out of myself! I can see what one would use a VDE rachet set for. I will never go near another battery bank without insulated sockets and spanners! I didnt get a shock thankfully but the bang was quite impressive and blew a chunk out of the extension bar and the side of the rack.

I just made my first KC Tool purchase due to the black friday sale. I have purchased through amazon before but not direct. Do you have any idea why they don't carry Weidmuller, and whats you opinion on that brand? I would like to try there automatic wire strippers for a series on wire stripping and crimping I am doing on my website and youtube channel.

I´ve had one of those large (12mm I think) wooden handle screw drivers with a welded hex socket for years now, intensively using it as a chisel and pry bar. Held up really well, the handle is beat out of shape and the finish is scraped away, but it didn´t break. Not sure what it was branded (cant read that anymore), probably Wisent (house brand of a hardware store chain, screwdrivers made by Wera).
@bryanlawless18586 жыл бұрын
I think I would choose Wiha over Wera. I have Wiha bits and haven't been dissapointed.

After excellent experience with both the Knipex Cobra (water pump) and Wrench pliers in 250 mm size, I ordered and received Knipex's mini set on Saturday which contains the 125 mm Cobra as well as the 150 mm Wrench pliers in a nice little nylon belt case. Unfortunately, I decided to return them today because of the 125 mm Cobra. I love the size of the 150 mm Wrench pliers, but the 125 mm Cobra pliers is just a little too small to be useful. It reminds me of those subcompact 9mm pistols where your little pinky finger feels lost and dangles off of the end looking to grasp something. That is, unless you have hands like a woman or a prepubescent male. I returned the otherwise nice set and instead ordered both the Wrench and Cobra pliers separately in 150mm. One quick question about the chrome vs black oxide finish: Have you noticed the chrome finish ever so slightly has less grip than the unfinished version? I want to say I saw a previous video of yours with a similar conclusion on a pair of pliers, but I don't recall for sure.

On the smaller ones I don't think a security bore is possible on the ball end. The hole needs to be oversize otherwise you can't place an angle on the wrench. If the hole was the same size, it would just hold the wrench straight.

Nice haul. I like all of it. knipex is in my opinion the king of pliers , and as for screwdrivers their is a huge debate on fello, wera, Wiha, WILL , Stanely. My personal favorite is Wera for screwdrivers, stanely screwdrivers for woodwork and hardware projects around the house. snap on for Rachets and sockets for cars, and knipex for pliers. You didn't do any reviews on Carolus by Gedore, they make the car tools for Gedore. Ps: I enjoy you reviews.

The hex on the screwdrivers are cold forged at the same time as the flat tip in one movement of the press, is not machined. that would be a big loss of material and time.

I guess I didn't think about it being all in the same die. I was thinking only the tips would be forged but I can see how the entire shaft could be part of the same die.

Another great unboxing video Matt. What is your opinion on the Witte screwdrivers? There doesn't seem to be a big selection, on KC Tool even. However, I've found the handles to be the most comfortable with the trilobe design, especially the Maxxpro Plus. Tips appear to be top quality also.

I never understood why the 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4" drive for the sockets and impacts don't have a metric equivalent. Is there metric sockets that have their own metric sized drive anvil for the ratchets and impacts?
@kylesonsalla76205 жыл бұрын
Why though? You're adding complexity where it's not needed. The fractional drive sizes have been standard for over a century. What are you gaining by going to a metric drive size?

Go with Knipex-pliers , Wiha- screwdrivers , Stahlwille-socket set & then start paying the loan off ! - worth the money in the end though - for construction tools go Estwing/vaughan/Marshalltown/ragni IMO :]
@conradwilliams13446 жыл бұрын
What are you working on the most? DIY? Automotive? Construction? Knipex are the best hands down. Worth the money. Felo or wiha screwdrivers I've got wooden handle felo, love them and the micro finish (purple handles) wiha and they are great as well. I've got a mix of Koken and snap on sockets. Some situations the thinner sockets from either brand are great but sockets are sockets and any will do really. I've got snap on ratchets and after using them for a few years now I wouldn't buy anything else. Expensive and fuck but worth it. 20 years as an automotive technician I've had and tried everything.
@kylesonsalla76205 жыл бұрын
Snap On comfort grip ratchets, Williams sockets (same as the snap on's but 1/3 the price, Williams is a snap on industrial brand). I love their Instinct screw drivers, haven't had a chance to try the German ones. Knipex pliers and cutters. Flank Drive Plus wrenches. Fluke meter. Klein electrical tools.

Tell the truth: If you absolutely positively HAVE to to get a stubborn nut off, will you follow the reducer's maximum torque rating? Or will you forgo the torque wrench altogether and use a breaker bar and a six-foot length of black pipe?
@GermanToolReviews6 жыл бұрын
That torque rating is probably just there to cover themselves against warranty. I'm sure 99% of people will never use a torque wrench with a reducer. I'm not even sure the torque value would be valid with a reducer inline.
@user-vj1hy8si7p6 жыл бұрын
Good points. When you snap off another cube from a reducer, you can pair it with the first one you broke off and make dice. That would be a fun video. Cheers-

I'll make a video sometime about a story I had with a hammer I used once in the pouring rain on the side of the road for an emergency repair. Thought I wiped it down threw in in the truck and forgot about it, only to find it rusted over when I found it again a couple months later.
@axtra926 жыл бұрын
German Tool Reviews it will still do the job
@BenjaminCronce6 жыл бұрын
That tool in particular has moving parts and some precise edges. The rust can seize or ruin the more precise parts. He did mention that it's meant to be an emergency tool, hopefully never used, but must be ready when needed. Something like a hammer I would not care so much about rust, but rusty pliers I would throw in the garbage. Pliers should be a natural extension of your hand. If you're fighting your tools because they don't move well, they're dangerous.

When we are working on switch gear or any panel for that matter, everything is off. There’s usually not even power to the building yet. So i would never spend the money on something like that.
@GermanToolReviews6 жыл бұрын
That's the way I've learn to work on panels, with the power off and using lockout tags. Maybe they were more intended for working on Hybrid cars or other high voltage battery systems where the power can't be cut off so easily.
@EditioCastigata6 жыл бұрын
It's meant as rudimentary protection in case someone turns the power on by accident, or happens to connect current meant for construction equipment to the target circuits (sorry, I don't know the English words for those) to "get some light here and there, *only for a minute*", case of mindless laziness.
