Hi Kristina, Small cooking tip, don't add oil to the pasta as it stops the pasta sauce from sticking to the pasta, if your are having to save the pasta for the next day then you can add oil to prevent the pasta from sticking to itself.

Glad you’re enjoying your Greek adventure, I’ve been skippering charter yachts in Greece for over 20 years and Syros is always on my stop overs. On your way to Kia the Island of Kythnos has a beautiful wee marina called Loutra which is worth stopping at as it has a thermal pool at waters edge in the bay. Useful for next time. Enjoy Regards Alan

Wow, gosh, what a wonderful life -- sailing the Aegean for 20+ years. A lot of people would be very jealous of your job and experience! 🙋♀️ Oh, we briefly went past Kythnos, but didn't stay at the marina unfortunately, we anchored in the area where the sand bank separates the two bays, I'm not sure if you visit there very often? And yes - Syros, gosh, absolutely beautiful spot, I can see why you always stop by there Alan! It would be a crowd pleaser!

Sadly I have now retired from my Greek skippering, after 40 years of sailing and off shore racing its time to call it a day, the two main reasons for it are the Syrian crisis and all the refugees trying to escape into Europe and the Covid issue, both these we’re foremost in my decision. My wife and I are now enjoying our new Rockwood caravan and have been exploring NZ on land which is spectacular as you know. Keep in touch, kindest Regards Alan and Ngareta Inglis (NZ)

great episode guys. small tip reg pasta. never put oil while cooking. it tends to prevent the pasta from soaking the sauce once finished :) if you're staying with the pasta, and stirring, it will not stick to each other and once you put on the sauce, it flavours it far more!. side question. If I remember well you are leasing this yacht right? what's the cost like for all this period?

Ermoupoli harbor in the early 19th century, was the center of economy not only for Greece, because of its location ( in the center of Aegean sea and through the route to Europe, Asia and Africa also. A lot of industries were located there and people from all over the world visited the island doing trade. There is a cemetery in town only for those foreigners - Allies who died there almost 200 years ago and it's very interesting to visit it.

Ola itan poli nostima (or something like that phonetically) means "everything (food/drinks) was really good". This is like 95% of my Greek knowledge, but every waiter/waitress loved it when we visited Thessaloniki 😀 it's good to learn some words at the local language when you visit a country. It shows some kind of respect to their culture and every local appreciates it (especially mediterraneans, like italians, greek people, spanish people, etc). Your Greek sailing put my mind a bit at ease, it seems more manageable than Australian waters, and we plan to sail eastern Spain first (Valencia). But it would be super cool to one day sail from Valencia to Antalya for example 🤩

Places look great. Boat looks nice. Looks like an incredible time. Just one funny little goofy hiccup. I know many do it but it does not serve any purpose when cooking pasta. First yes you salt the water big time there is an Italian saying that basically mean the pasta water should taste like the salty ocean. Second, and here is the boo boo, this is an “old wives tale’, you NEVER EVER EVER EVER put oil in your pasta water. It does NOT prevent pasta from sticking. 😂 😂 😂

The ancient Greeks spoke of the nine muses: daughters of Zeus who graced humanity with gifts from mount Olympus itself. Great art, music, literature and philosophy were attributed to these divine beings, the most notable of their beneficiaries being Homer, the author of the Iliad, Dante the poet who composed the Purgatario and Shakespeare who himself invoked the muses in Henry V. I confess I haven't read much Shakespeare or Dante; I did enjoy Hollywood's abridged version of the Iliad, the blockbuster Troy but I resolutely believe I have had the privilege of meeting the eldest of the nine muses, Calliope. The most beautiful of them all, Calliope is acclaimed as the muse of epic poetry and eloquence, both arts I had no particular fondness for. And then three years ago, she waltzed into my life: humble, beautiful, cultured, exotic, introducing me to classical music like Albinoni's Adagio in G minor and the thunderous Carmina Burana set to music by Carl Orff. An artist, she filled my world with her latest creations which made me resolve then and there that I would never settle for anyone other than a creative. Time flew by in her company and every moment was surreal, bordering on sublime. A teetotaller, like myself, her highs were triggered by creativity, music and being in the mountains. One night, googling new names of stars to affectionately address her by, I stumbled upon Arcturus, and the related Arcturian Prophecies, a new age work from a Californian native that has a near-cult following. The book proposes that seventh dimensional beings are continually broadcasting pearls of wisdom to earth, which have brought about evolution. These noble beings find suitable residents of this nascent planet and fill them with an intense love for preservation of their land. What ensued were spirited discussions on how earth is being primed for the extinction of war, a time where prolific creativity, boundless peace and universal brotherhood is the only wealth strived for. All of a sudden, I started to write verse after spending time with her..abstract, unrelated, poetic verse. It made no sense whatsoever, it was just my fingers doing all the work, with no input from my mind. It was only after she took her leave that I started to notice an end to my explosive creative streak. A Google image search into muses revealed an ancient statue of Calliope, with the exact pose that had endeared me to her spirit: a delightful finger on her chin. Goa is home to divinity; she is as the protagonist in the Pulitzer winning classic 'To kill a mockingbird' states: "Remember it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird; They don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy and sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird"
