The Renaissance Festival is not between Apache Junction and Gold Canyon. Renaissance Festival is east of Gold Canyon highway ( Kings Ranch Road ) entrance a little less then 5 miles. Since I live in Gold Canyon for 27 years, and have seen the growth, my only advice is come and visit but please don't stay .. ( lol ). When I moved here there were less than 100 residents. Traffic was nothing and quiet was the word of the day. Dinosaur Mountain golf course at the Gold Canyon Golf Resort is a unique challenging golf course with some of the most beautiful desert views anywhere. Green fees are reasonable ( for the times we are in ) and your golf cart is included and required because of the terrain changes between holes. The course is not real long but the greens are very challenging. Par is 70 and don't expect to come close the first time around. Bring a camera and take lots of photos. Go up to the Gold tees on 15 for an amazing view and photo. Apache Land Movie Studio has been closed since the fire and as far as I know there are no tours.
