Use the Behringer X-Live for Missing Musicians

Drew! This video has been the single most important and useful X32 video I have ever seen. Yesterday I had to do soundcheck with an incomplete band lineup (drummer was running late). Luckily I had a Reaper session of previously recorded gigs, so with this method I was able to merge recorded drums and bass with the members present playing live, the show was saved. Thanks again!

Very interesting. One could have recordings of all your common songs and then, when anyone is out, you could fill in whomever is out by only selecting those channels to come back in. Sweet. The click is critical to keep everyone who is live at the same rhythm as the recorded channels.

Drew. You say you want ideas for future videos. Well, here's a tricky one. How to use the Midas DN4816-I (NOT the "O") with the x32, or any AES50 equiped "desk". If you can figure out a solution to this, I'm sure that there are thousands of user out there who are interested.

Drew , I have a great idea for a video , it involves using this X32 as aStand alone mixer for a Drummer. As a Drummer I use to use the Mackie 1604VLZ . So I fairly recently purchased the X32. I did so for many reasons such as, I can make different “kits” ( EQ, dynamics, FX,) name them and use them quickly live or in studio , plus with the SD card I can record quickly and simply to make drum cover videos . So I’d LOVE to see you make a video for a Drummer as JUST A MIXER , not for routing a PA system , just as a pre mixed drum kit to send to FOH . So as a Drummer I can take it to ANY gig and be ready to take off. I hope this makes sense and would LOVE to work with you as I am still stuck on some features. Thanks b

Absolutely. But, you'll need to make sure your 2-channel track on the USB drive is in WAV format at the bitrate set on the console.

Can you go over your settings for all your drum mics? Gates(with triggers), Compression, EQ, effects, etc

Our X32 does not have this card device installed. Can one be installed? Next logical question, how much? By the way, have you ever experienced a sudden change in an EQ of a mic? We had one that just went 'hollow' all of a sudden, had to EQ it again. Crazy stuff. Thanks again Drew for all your helpful videos. I've got pages of notes that I'm referencing from watching these videos.

Yes, the X-USB card supports 32-in/32-out.

hi Drew I enjoy your videos very much learned a lot about the X32 but we have a problem with our P16 and the Facebook Live. we will have a good mix during sound check and all is good for our worship team the P16 are good. When we start our service and the Facebook Live is on they lose some of there IN Ear mix. We are using Pro Log to go into Facebook. Any suggestion? and thanks again for your videos

Hey Drew, I watched your videos for a long time. Go on, they are very usefull! I have a question on how to route a guitar signal (input 01 on my x32) to my laptop (e.g. DAW = Studio one) use a plugin (e.g. GuitarRig) to transform the signal and route this transformed signal back on my x32 and the PA. How do I do this? I don´t have the X-Live Card. Thank you very much!

You may have covered this, but is there a way to play stems back from a computer, over USB to the x live (Click, pads, backing tracks etc) AND record all to the SD Card? Would it be 8/8 or 16/16 instead of 32/32 ?

Hi Drew, I understand how this would work in a virtual soundcheck. Is there a way to pre-load, save and name (and quickly recall) multitrack backing tracks for a set of music? (Instead of using a playback system?)

Great video. Quick question though... I have a DL 32 into an x32 rack for in ear monitors, into M32c to control FOH. How can I get the SD card audio (in the x32 rack) to play through both mixers so the musicians can hear in their IEM's via x32 rack and the FOH guy still gets the audio via the M32c? Thank you!

That's a great idea, at least if one's playing with click. I had some issues though, recording both - on SD and via USB - at the same time. Is that normal? Is that not supposed to happen? Or is it because I'm using too big SD cards since each of the two have 128 gigs?

Good evening Drew. I have a trouble shoot. Aux sends for a sub. All my xlr buses are full so I’m using aux 1 out to channel 1 on amp then run to sub. How do I set up fader to control sub off of aux 1 fader independently?

Hey Drew! Can you save these routing combinations, so that you may vary the Card In vs Live In channels according to the current band lineup? E.g. when the sax player is missing, can you recall a routing that was tailored to feature his tracks as a preset?

Drew Just got a M32C and DL32 and put the Xlive card into the M32C. I can record and play back, but the problem is: "No Session Date/Time Stamp" they all say 2000/00/00 and if I record 3 sessions, the 3rd session is now on session 1 and 2. Sessions 1 and 2 are gone. Help!!!! Thank you!

@Jimmy Enns What if you played your click track from a general media player out the standard line out of the computer into your aux in on the X32 and then still used your daw via asio / usb?
