This single was the follow-up to the hit “Constant Craving” (1992). “Miss Chatelaine” (1992) is chiefly remembered for its video which was, along with its romantic lyrics, a satire of the long-running “Lawrence Welk Show.” Lang parodied her own androgynous image by appearing in a yellow ball gown with fringe and daisies in her hair, while singing about falling in love amid violon music and bubbles floating on the set. Her fans loved the clip and the singer continues to get requests for this tune when she performs live. “Chatelaine”* is borrowed from a Canadian women’s magazine of the same name. In 1988, the publication selected KD as Woman of the Year❕ 💜🎵💚 * The word is actually spelled “Châtelaine”, with a circumflex accent on the first letter “â”.

Ms. Lang, I have adored your music and been astonished and amazed by your voice since I started listening to you in the 1990's. Your voice represents a Gold Standard, one I aspire to hit in my work (couture clothing). Regardless of lyrics, it has a 4 to 4- change (or a 4 to b7dom - however you look at it) so I love it to begin with. I was just saying to my wife... "This is one of the tunes I bebopped to in between visits." The other was Harry Connick's Whisper song. Both were on the 90's version of Musak at a factory in Maine. I worked 3rd shift cleaning floors. Saw my girlfriend Friday night through Sunday (picked her up and dropped her off from/to college in Boston at a bus station in Portsmouth NH) every weekend for a while. This song played at least once a shift, and reminds me of young love. 2024 will be 30 years since we got together, and here we are still... If I ever meet Ms. Lang, I'd give her a big hug and a kiss on the cheek, and a heartfelt "Thanks, Bub." Probably even offer a free motorcycle tour of Maine...
