Hello guys, it would be great to have v3 with modulation and delay sections separated, it would be great to use these sections at the same time
@Deebool5 жыл бұрын
Thanks you guys : awesome sounds here!!! For some reason it took me some time to figure out the wiring (I think because of the two units and maybe because english is not my native language). So for the record and any one wondering like me : the guitar is plugged in the right unit then goes to the left one in the TRS insert "ring" (red jack). The "out" wired to the "in" by a patch cable and the "tip" of the insert to the amp...

Ideally, where would you run the dark side with other pedals? It includes things that I would like on the start of my chain and also the beginning
@stillnessinmovement4 жыл бұрын
I put mine in loop, after my fuzz but before my digital delay. generally, fuzz-mod-delay. sometimes mod-fuzz-delay. with the new dark side, it's got a button to push to switch order.

I own the "Monterey" and the "30ms Automatic Double Tracker " and both are excellent. Question. Why wasn t the modulation section on the Dark Side made with the ability to run the Delay along with ex: the Flange or U-vibe?? The Multi-Head emulator on the Dark Side sounds absolutely incredible (I know I can run my own Flange etc....but the Dark Side Mods sound great) How cool would it have been to be able to run the Delay with the other "selected" mods?? Gilmour is known for his awesome tone and his Superb use of delay. The pedal sounds great, just an opportunity missed to take a great sounding pedal deeper into the "Dark Side."
@stillnessinmovement4 жыл бұрын
I think the DSP is kept busy with any one of the mod. a lot of pedals will multi task the DSP, getting multiple effects but you lose sound quality. putting a 3rd footswich, another DSP. would put it out of the pricepoint for footpedals like this. I put a MXR carbon copy in the path.

Love the sound of this pedal but combined as it is I can't think of an ideal place for it on my board because it would replace one effect currently in front and one currently in the loop and getting full use out of it live without more foot controls and an expression pedal seems challenging, seems like a bedroom player or studio pedal. Love your pedals but your desire to combine them into multi-effect "workstations" is often puzzling to me at times. I do enough tap dancing, don't need to add switch fiddling to the mix.

I'm still a little confused on what the TRS hooks into? I see that you can insert your own pedal which I understand. However is there another mode to connect it in? I see the input and output connections are the same with the TRS attached so I'm wondering what the TRS is attached to if not a pedal?
@Auxend7 жыл бұрын
I think it's just used as a hack to switch patch routing - the pedal I just got comes with a button to swtich the order so it looks like this is only needed for V1 pedals

would you suggest running two of these pedals? to have all of the effects available with out having to switch the settings?
@adamfischer76388 жыл бұрын
I wonder if there is anyway of getting creative with a loop switcher that would allow you to rig it up so that you could switch between Fuzz->Mod and Mod->Fuzz without unplugging/replugging. . . Is that possible, or is the only option to run two of these?
@RobertKeeleyTV8 жыл бұрын
I think that's a great idea! A loop switcher would be perfect!
@mattgilbert73477 жыл бұрын
This is what I am thinking. An ES-5 or Es-8 would be the ultimate choice because it can re-order loops and/or run them in parallel or, if you have the ES-8, Stereo or wet/dry :) :)

@trooperformaiden8 жыл бұрын
Hmmm. I guess with the delay it makes more sense. Answered my own question kind of haha.
@RobertKeeleyTV8 жыл бұрын
Yes, you're right, we just couldn't put the mod/delay side first because the delay sounds so bad that way. And, there are plenty of good, classic sounds where the modulation comes after fuzz...so we just made it an option to run the effects order different by way of TRS cable. We just couldn't have the Delay sound bad. We would have to add a second DSP chip to put some modulations before fuzz and then delay after.
@JRivera8 жыл бұрын
would this be an option in the future, dark side 2.0

Im not sure if this is part of the pedal or what but can you please let me know. Like do i send it back or what??

But the V1 is sooooo much better. You can put a whole chain of effects in that insert and have Guitar>DS input>Fuzz> TRS *send* >Boost/Comp>Mods>Another Delay> TRS *return* >Dark Side Delay>DS output. And if you have a little loop switcher (Analogman make one) you can have two chains and run them remotely and stack them! I bought the Keeley "Ëchoes" pedal which is the delay side of the DS but improved, a Red Dirt Studio Deluxe, and, along with a NUX Atlantic & a Tremolo last in the chain, that's my jam board! Two Keeley pedals, one with TRS stereo I/O & breakout (insert) functionality to separate the sides and one with TRS *insert only* gives you many, many possibilities. I wanted to expand from the little Jam Board so: I put 2 pedals (RC Booster & Keeley 1962x) in my Analogman A/B/A+B loop switcher, hooked that up into the RDD using Hosa b/out cables, put a Power Booster and CE2 in the DS insert. DS output to the other pedals - Wampler Velvet Fuzz, T-Rex Replica, Fender Tre-Verb maybe my EH Anaogizer to smooth everything out>amp! The remote controlling the Analogman loop switcher = me done. Incredible rig and so small and versatile, especially with that AM loop switcher w/remote Truetone CS12 keeps everything clean and quiet, Lava Tightrope reliable patches and a comfy fit. I sold my V2 to get a V1. I would still like to figure out a way to completely separate the two sides of the V1 as you can do with the RDSD and other Keeley pedals.

Is it possible to seperate the sides completely so that the fuzz can be sent to the front of the map and the modulation side be rout3d into the effects loop?

THAT is what I want to know.
@jbonafilia Жыл бұрын
Anyone ever find out? Like if I have a switcher can I have the fuzz in one loop and the modulation in a separate loop with the trs insert like an aria?
@mattgilbert73477 жыл бұрын
It'd be cool if it could be modded to function like the D & M Drive i.e split the sides to put in separate loops in a loop switcher like the GigRig2 or Boss ES-8. Then you could have presets for mods before fuzz, mods after fuzz, mods/delays running in parallel. And you could add other effects, so you could use your own mods with the DS Fuzz & Delays or mutatis mutandis, vice versa.

If youre playing on a budget, something like a digitech RP multieffects pedal is a good option. Pedals like this one are more aimed towards players with a higher budget. The cheaper pedal will sound a little worse, and be harder to work with, but you can essentially get an entire pedalboard pretty cheap. I wouldn't pair an expensive pedal with a cheap guitar or amp.
