Great Video! LOL!!! Really put yourself and your family into making a great video. I was smiling through the whole video! Thank you! I rebuild dental handpieces, sharpen and re-tip orthodontic tools, and sharpen scissors. Thanks to your video I might look into sharpening clipper blades also. At first I will use this sandpaper technique you show here and then buy a professional diamond wheel with the grit like y'all got. Thanks again for your great video!

Just over from your part 1 video... The lighting on this video is better, and I could see you better, and I had to laugh, because in part 1 you mentioned that the music was brought to us by your son & daughter, I thought, is this guy old enough to have kids that age...? You look like a kid yourself. hahaha... Just me me joking around. At my age, most of the people I come in contact with are younger than me, and so I refer to them as "kids". On a serious note though, sir, as the saying goes "haters, gonna hate"..., pay them no mind... I am 58yrs young, and recall my grandpa showing me how to "flat" sharpen various wood working tools (lath, chisel, etc.,). I love your analysis of the "flat tire/spare"... I am sharpening old, "Oster" animal grooming blades, and you have sure helped me in getting them sharpened. I am 50miles from somebody who would most likely be using the round table you showed. Thank you again, and I am onto the next classroom session of yours. P.S., your format of 10-12-15minute videos is perfect. Tell the kids to keep up the music, it is awesome...

Hi, thank you for your videos! I tried using this technique on one of my blades but i did not succeed. I did choose a very old blade to experiment on. Is it possible I overdid it? Or could it be the blade is too old? It looks pretty flat. Almost completely flattened edges should I just get rid of this particular blade, or try the hollow method first?

Mitch is correct. When surfaces move against each other, they encounter friction. Even when polished. Even when lubricated. The most noticeable byproduct of friction is heat. Flat ground clipper blades will have grater surface to surface contact. And therefore will get hotter, faster, than hollow ground blades will. Not only that, but the motor will have to work slightly harder, on every single stroke. Not that much harder, per stroke.. But if you consider the fact that some clippers run at upwards of 8000 Strokes Per Minute...that little bit adds up!
