As a police officer, I have trained in performance driving. It is amazing how much control you can get over your car with the right tactics. And it’s a ton of fun! Great video!

All the videos are great but from a cinematography standpoint, this takes the cake! Great use of the drone, mix of cameras and editing! Looked like a professional film shoot! Looked ridiculously fun too!

Thanks for noticing because it got stressful at times. We reviewed the footage after day 1 and thought... how are we going to record this AND do it? We came back on day 2 and told the instructors that we need WAY MORE drone to piece these scenes together. We like events like this to force us to improve.

Vision is so true. My dad always taught me that from the beginning of my driving and for life. Keep your eyes up and anticipate what is going to happen and always be aware of what is going on around you. Great fun video. Congratulations on the 100th episode.

This comment is for anyone who wonders if the course "HOW TO START A KZbin CHANNEL", offered by Mark is worth it. ABSOLUTELY! I thought I knew it all because of all the videos I have watched on how to start a KZbin channel... Uhhh, NO! I am learning so much more useful information than most videos give me. Mark explains even the smallest details that one wouldn't think will make a difference in the channel's success. I am working on a second channel, starting from scratch and will follow Marks tips religiously :) Mark, Trish, I thank you both so much for creating this priceless course! I don't even know how to thank you enough... I am reading it like a novel :) And the channel banner art tips - I love it! Thank you and have a wonderful travel! Warm thanks, Sasha

You'd be surprised when those skills will come in handy. Last year we were in Europe, driving from Amsterdam to Rotterdam on a major road. Car in front some how hit the front of a semi-truck that was running to our left, car bounced off and ran right across our path, days of thunder scenario. I hit the brakes and steered left towards the gap between the semi truck and the car heading to our right. as I've been living in the US many years, I forgot about downshifting and stalled, but did steer through the mess.

It really is amazing what a normal street vehicle can do. Best case-in-point is to take your vehicle you drive everyday and apply the brakes on pavement hard enough to make the ABS work. It is amazing how hard a vehicle can brake! It can feel like your face is getting sucked out of your head! Great video! I'm sure it was a blast getting to spend some time in a closed course in some Hellcats!

Awesome video as always! We leave for our 3000 mile west family rv adventure in just a few short weeks. We are super excited but I find as the time gets closer a little nervousness is creeping in. Does any else feel this way before a big trip to an unknown territory? We are well under gvwr and set up to do this but ...those mountains look bigger every day! :)

Us too. Before we left the first time, we were really nervous/excited. Mexico was new. A bit nervous there. Canada (Tifino) and the Ferries - that was new with lots of moving parts. SN 4 was pretty low key because we knew the area, but now AK?!?! Lots we don't know. Just remember, you're not in a hurry... even when you think you are. Being in a hurry is when problems happen!

Hi great video. With ABS and brake control set right and looking where you need to go helps. Well my is set at 6.5 I like alittle pull from camper and with the engine brake of fat bottom girl ( our 3500 RAM dually)things seem to stop LOL. Yes there is a story there. Coming from lake Havasu to Paker there is light at the bottom of the hill well looked at the speed limit sign to the right then down at Dash just make was not speeding looked up and the light is red car in both right and centre lanes well hitting brakes very hard and aiming for the left turning lane all was fine lost a little rubber. 37′ of 5wheel did not even
@Jerry-dk8se6 жыл бұрын
Believe it or not, but this could help your rig handling. I took the Archer high performance driving course in Topeka, KS. back in 1992, and the lessons learned has been beneficial in driving a big truck and towing my camping trailer. Remember, smooth is faster, energy management will help you with better fuel economy and give your family (and Ginger II) a smoother ride.
@KeepYourDaydream6 жыл бұрын
I agree. All these principals are so transferable. We're going to *try* to keep a fuel log to AK so everyone knows. I'm good about that stuff for the first few days.... AK is a big trip :)

Your trip to Alaska has probably started...? My wife and I are wondering if you’ve upgraded your Rig like you hinted at a while ago! We begin our Daydream in 35 days and a wake-up. Not yet. The channel is pretty current right now. Well, really current. Bondurant was a few days ago. Upgrade videos will be in a couple week and then we start our travels north. We won't get to AK until mid to late June, but we have some fun stuff planned for the trip north.

Your recommendation to try these techniques in our trucks in a parking lot somewhere is an invitation to an overnight in cell city !
@KeepYourDaydream6 жыл бұрын
Like locked up? I wasn't thinking people would drift their rig. But knowing what ABS feels like or how to stop quickly on the threshold of abs is a good thing to know.
@TravelswithYoly6 жыл бұрын
It just seems a bit sketchy to me hitting 65 mph in a parking lot with unknown surface friction levels and then trying to stop in a specified time and space. Knowing how your ABS reacts and feels is probably a good thing but getting it to behave the same way on different surfaces would be difficult. For example, the feeling on dry pavement with lots of grip creates a very distinct almost violent shudder at the pedal while the same brake force of a damp street creates a very different sensation. I agree that doing it somewhere other than a public space, such as a test track would be much less sketchy. It's hard to argue against knowing how a vehicle reacts in an emergency situation, but there's a time and place for that education .... in my opinion. Oh yeah, the pedal feel during an ABS activation with a 6000 lb trailer behind you is quite different also :-) Also, having ABS activated does not always guarantee the ability to steer.
