I was camping at Crater Lake 17 years ago. It was August, it was beautiful, the moon was huge, and it was 33 degrees at night. To paraphrase W.C. Fields, "One of the coldest Winters I ever camped was a Summer night at Crater Lake." Have fun at the meet up.

Hi Marc and Trish. If you're near downtown Vancouver tonight, be sure to check out the Honda Celebration of Light international fireworks competition at English Bay, starting at 10:00 PM. Several hundred thousand people will watch an amazing 20 minute show put on by Japan. The UK show is on Wednesday and Canada wraps it up next Saturday.
@KeepYourDaydream7 жыл бұрын
We'd love to do it. Any ideas on how to do it and not get mixed up in gridlock crowds until 2am!?! Lots to do tomorrow we'll need our sleep for.
@leonard74757 жыл бұрын
If you're staying on the north shore, your best choice is to watch the show from one of the beaches in West Vancouver that has a direct line of sight with the barge, which is moored just off of English Bay, near Stanley Park. You definitely don't want to drive downtown. Transit will also be very busy too, so avoid taking a bus or skytrain. I hope that this is helpful.

Thanks for another great episode. Just SO much fun! I’m amazed at how much snow there was at Crater Lake in the middle of summer. Mosquitos, ugh. Truck broke down far from home while towing the travel trailer? Yeah, I can tell you some stories. Being proactive about vehicle maintenance is the key. Also, AAA plus Good Sam or Coach Net. Also, make sure you have a credit card with a lot of credit left to use. Redundant levels of protection. Best Of Luck

It was hilarious 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄💚. Thanks for the comedic relief! I loved seeing Crater Lake (of course it was in June). It was beautiful. Bad fuel rail. Common on these engines. Quick fix is to unplug the sensor. It will trick the computer and get you going, but fuel economy will suck due to it running rich. Also, I would not put any load on the engine, like towing, due to the risk of cat failure. I love the videos and the upbeat attitude. I know how tough it is to stay positive in situations like this...

When ever you open the hood of your vehicle I think 1.5 minutes is minimum to look at the engine; BUT the most important thing is to lean over reach in and touch & jiggle at least three things. Trish is a CHAMPION, as she was laughing while hefting the 5 gallon gas can,- of course you did have to hold your arm way out to film the action. As usual an excellent vlog

+Ken Lynch Jiggle at least 3 things, AND it is an absolute necessity to grab ahold of the oil dipstick and SLING that baby outta the little tube. And then give that dipstick a very close inspection. (maybe even give the oil a sniff, gotta see if your torque converter is running a little hot and all the oil molecules are combusting at the optimal temperature). :)))

So sorry that you guys had truck issues! They must be resolved since you are now in BC. We've been debating about getting Good Sam for roadside, but we have heard of quite a few on KZbin mentioning their long telephone wait times and difficulty of Good Sam to come up with a solution; then you mentioned the extra cost because the repair facility was not the closest and I just rolled my eyes. Those yellow lines are tone heeded. The week before you were there a helicopter rescue crew had to come and lift a young man out of the crater who was in the area where your family was. He was taking photos, lost his footing in the snow and slid over the edge. The area racks up 2-3 rescues per year.

ugh....We had a Ford 150 that went caput on us about 25 miles outside of Paige AZ last year. It was a bad sensor that was shutting the truck down because it thought the truck was overheating...which it wasn't. About $250 dollars later & an overnight stay, we were back in business. Brings back memories of towing the truck & Airstream.

Two years ago the end of June we had to get a tow out of the camp spot we were in. Spent two nights in that spot even though we were only supposed to stay one. That was somewhere south of Bozeman, Mt. $272 later after fixing an o2 sensor see were back on the road. We have so much trouble it's almost like mother nature doesn't want us to go camping, this year was the first of many we didn't really have too many issues, the furnace didn't work so we snuggled up pretty good, that was fixed on our new to us camper last October before we bought it so the guy we got the trailer from fixed it a week ago for free. Haven't gone out to see if it works yet but it should. Helps when your husband is friends with the rv guy too. 😉 I'm still working to get my husband to watch your channel, I think he'd enjoy it, but I told him if we ever get the chance to meet up and go to a meet up I would love to be able to do so.

Trish is right. By June you be lucky to find any parking (trailer or not) at Crater Lake. Having been to crater lake about 5 times, I would suggest arriving late May before Memorial Day. You won’t be able to drive around the lake, it it you want to park and go into the visitors center, it will be much more accessible.

I had to laugh at the mosquito camping. I took my son one time to Bannack MT (first territorial capital of my) and camped in a tent. It was a everything we could do to get the tent put up and get in. Then spent the rest of the night listening to them buzz around the tent. Never saw it that bad before. Pretty cool area for old west stuff. You've probably heard of vigilante' s well that's where they operated. Anyway I know how Trish feels about mosquitos :-) too bad the truck broke down. Hot over here still. We have stage 2 fire restrictions because of fire danger, which means no open fires. So far we've been really lucky and no smoke from the fires. So the park is still awesome. Enjoyed the video, might even have to learn to drink coffee :-) have fun at your meet up.

My first thought is a clogged fuel filter. I have seen this dozens of times. A clog can be like a flapper that allows the vehicle to start but shuts down when the fuel pressure pushes the clog close and stops the fuel flow. The second is a clogged fuel line and the third is fuel pump locking up. Of course there is also the possibility of iced up fuel line but that is unlikely.

We had a travel trailer for 9 years (2005 to 2013). We often found it easier to find open RV parking than regular passenger car parking here in Oregon. Cannon Beach is one prime example of that. Now when we take a day trip in our car, it can be almost impossible to find a parking space.

We have used them recently for towing and they were quick to help! And we live in the country! You mentioned working off the inverter, what do you have for a battery set up? Excellent video as usual.

What time of year was this? Many years back, before our son was born, one summer the Mrs and I drove a Mustang convertible up the coast from CA to Vancouver WA to visit friends. We spent a night in Fort Klamath, that looked and sounded pretty cool on an old paper map (this is pre internet days). What a mistake. Just a truck stop town; general store, cafe, and a sleazy motel. Oh and a cemetery. That was ALIVE with mosquitos. We got a few steps in and got eaten alive. Your stop at White Horse reminded me f that. Is that a southern Oregon thing? We did Crater Lake too. Hiked down to the water and took the boat tour around the crater. Really cool experience, well recommended if you go back. Also, if you go back, check out the town of Sisters. Really cute old western town worth a look. Cheers guys, another great video

Keep Your Daydream, what happened? Why won't your truck start? That sucks the fuel pump went out. I have a 1999 Ford Expedition and it runs great! We have had a few Mechanical Problems but it still runs great!!! Wish the meet-up was in Vancouver WA not Vancouver BC!! Have a great time at the meet-up!

Could you show a quick video on how you mounted your bicycles. looking for good ideas and it looks like your bikes ride very steady in the video from inside the truck.

We were just at Crater Lake a week ago. There was still some snow on the ground. Earlier this month in Sequoia my truck wouldn't start either. Fortunately it just lost prime and with a few pumps we were back on the road. By the way touch a few things under the hood. That way your hands are dirty and it looks more realistic.

How did I forget to touch something. Then I would have gotten to wash my hands during my diatribe :)

Gee, you should be opening that hood at least once a week, according to the maintenance schedule. And if you get creative about what you touch, and in a random order, you will be able to keep everything clean throughout the year with just finger prints. And in a little over a year, you might be able to identify the Dipstick eventually.

...and NEVER, EVER use a tissue to wipe your hands. That's an automatic 90 day suspension of your man card! Extra points if you just rub the dirt into your hands and produce a low guttural groan and grimace!
