Good job. You make me laugh , things are going to fit right. Right. You should see what I’m going through with my blower manifold. Not going to use the 10 bolt. Drilling an milling everything to make 3/8 studs for the manifold in between the ports so I can have some gasket , big process, same with those studs. I called ray. Didn’t have what I needed Might drill an tap the block for or bigger studs.

I've never built a blower motor. I bet I could really have some issues with that! Thanks for watching.

Rick, Love your videos. I have a 528 Mopar crate motor that was rated at 640hp. It was built by Ray Barton. I bought it from the original owner who never took it out of the crate. I spoke with Ray and according to the engine number he built it 2006. when I ran the engine the first time it overheated immediately. After speaking Ray we discovered that the upper water intake port on the right side was blocked. It was paper thin flashing that I removed with grinding tool. Then I flushed out the block. Frustrating to say the least. The engine runs great but it runs hot 190-205 deg. (big Rad and twin fans) I also have a hot start problem. I'm wondering if the engine is too tight. I guess the only way to know would be a complete disassembly and measure all the components. I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

Since Ray put it together I feel we can rule out being too tight and you shouldn't need to tear it down. It did sit somewhere for 18 years, wow that's a long time, but I don't see that making it overheat other than causing a whole lot of friction until those rings rub the cylinders smooth again. I assume the cylinders were rusty. You and I don't want to run one that hot but if it never gets any higher, that's fine. I would try to put some miles on it and see if things get limbered up and get better. I'm in the process of starting 5 cars that have been sitting 25 years. It wasn't the right thing to do but the owner didn't want to spend any money. The hot start sounds like a timing issue. Hopefully you are running 30 degrees of total timing. But less for starting. Let me know if things don't get better. Is the cooling system up to the task? Check that timing again. Idling and total.

Cool build, there’s just something about an aluminum hemi. What do you plan on doing with this engine once it’s together?
@rickseeman56795 ай бұрын
I don't have any plans. I'm just going to put it on my test run stand and play with it. Thanks for watching.

Are all hemis this much work to get together or is this one just being a bastard? BTW.. it's sooo beautiful..... worth the effort
@rickseeman56795 ай бұрын
All Hemis are a little more complicated. And 4.500 bore and stroke is more complicated. And then there’s all the aftermarket parts trying to make them work together. And then the dollars start adding up and it becomes expensive so you want to make sure you do everything right. But yes this one has been a challenge. At the beginning of this series I said I thought this would be a fast build. It’s been 5 weeks 12 hours a day so far. I guess I was wrong. Thanks for watching.
