I know that block cost a lot. When you are using parts from the same manufacturer and they don't fit, it has to be frustrating. I watch these videos for educational purposes as I've never built an engine. What I am learning is that lots of things can go wrong! Thanks for sharing.

Yes it can be frustrating. Thanks for watching.

I could feel your exhaustion with each part not fitting. As someone preparing to build their first big inch Hemi, I appreciate the real-world transparency here. Enjoying the videos. Thanks Rick!

I agree that those KB parts should fit. But that block is KB in name only, FHO produces those. It would be nice if they would produce some of the accessories that KB used to make.

I agree. Thanks for watching.

Could you use a little fine emery cloth on a finger to open up the bottom of that oil pump bore? Love all of your videos and they make me think of all the other folks who assemble engines without your expert knowledge and equipment (such as knowing /measuring the bore roughness in your last video.)

I bottom of the hole was.005” too small. It would have taken forever and not been very accurate. I feel sorry for someone trying to put something together with new parts today for the reasons you said. Thanks for watching.

Rick, I watched the interview video with the fella that bought out the KB marque the other day and thought it was pretty cool that they were taking what they were doing seemingly so seriously - but then, I see your videos now and realize they may not know what they're doing just yet (or even that they know, they just have decided that's the way they're going to do it). I totally understand your frustration sir. - Ed on the Ridge

He may not know how bad the work is of the company doing the machining. If he does he needs to fix it. Thanks for watching.

That holds the 2 head gaskets together, it doesn't interfere with anything, these are most likely Cometic gaskets...

What parts didn't fit? I've run KBs parts since the mid 70s starting with a 557" stage 5, in a Blown Alcohol Hydro, I never had any issues with parts not fitting, what exactly did he accomplish here?, that is a rivit that holds the gaskets together his action accomplished nothing that piece doesn't touch the cylinder head at all...

My BM block had the small dowels and the milodon cover had the larger size. So cut them down for the block. Nothing ever fits.

You’re right. Nothing fits. Thanks for watching.

Hi Rick , Just wondering if you addressed this issue with Tim? ...and if so , what was the outcome? My understanding is that these blocks are machined using two different companies..one in Canada and one in the U.S.
@rickseeman56794 ай бұрын
No I haven’t. I’ve talked to him about some other things but never got anywhere with him. I was under the impression that the machine work is done in Michigan. Thanks for watching.

@@rickseeman5679 Just found out the regular blocks are machined in Saginaw, Michigan and the race blocks are machined in Ontario, Canada.
