Thanks, Keith. I use a Gillette Slim Adjustable and bought two old Gillette dispensers just so I load them. The dispenser are much nicer than the cheap plastic tucks and hold 3 times the number of blades - for me, it’s four months worth. Nice razors.

Thank you very much for this fun and informative video, Keith. In fact, these particular dispensers were expressly designed for loading the blades to Gillette's "butterfly style" DE shavers (adjustable or not) in a "contact less" manner. See, in conjunction with this type of dispenser, Gillette had fist introduced that little but pronounced square notch at both ends of the T-bar in those and you are supposed to push the blade halfway or less out of the dispenser, engage the loose end to the notch and then carefully draw it out in a manner so that the blade kinda centers, then pops out and falls flat on the bottom plate of the fully opened butterfly type razor. I have made a habit of aligning both edges of each blade by ever so lightly dragging them on a piece felt or even cork before loading them into the dispenser, so that they are ready for the poppin' (but I have made this a practice anyway with DE blades cause it surely removes any micro burr plus it aligns the edge to some degree...).

Yep, you are correct, that was a big selling point for Gillette. And back then so many blades came in these dispensers that reloading them was never a thought.

I inherited my Great-Grandfather’s George Butler 5/8ths french point Hollow ground razor probably dating from 1900 that was a mid range razor for the time that he used his entire adult life and I use a couple of times a month for nostalgic reason and as you state the Sheffield steel is quality. Keep up with the excellent informative videos. 👍

Thanks Johnny, I have a tutorial about refilling blade dispensers on my website, and a lot of feedback from that page revolved around video requests on the topic. So, voila. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Interesting Idea Keith, I don't use my DE very much but that would be a cool way of storing the blades. I love Dorco straights but have never used Dorco blades as I first bought Feathers and never saw any reason to change. Will look out for an old blade dispenser now though.

Hey Keith. Nice video. I'm not much of a straight razor guy personally. I normally use these vintage blades and the old Rolls Razor. I'm sure you know this, but you can resharpen carbon steel de blades. That's a good thing for me because they work fine for me. Again, cool video, stay sharp.

I have a few of these dispeners laying around, some NOS with blades some, I opened some, shaved with them, and these vintage gillette blue blades are great, other than Feathers they are my go-to for DE shaving. I think I have a total of 100 blades, so I doubt I will ever run out, since I don't use them all the time.
