My 13 year old son looked at me 2 weeks ago and told me it made him sad that I always tell them that they are perfectly perfect as them selves but I can't even look at myself as just me without wanting to be or look different. It shook me, literally to my very core. I cleaned out my closet of all the things I wear but hate, and saved my head. I will learn to live the life I encourage my children to strife for.

I am so surprised that Mayim has this perception of herself! For me, she's always been an example of woman who besides of being talented and hardworking, remained true to her own values. I hope someday she'll be able to see herself the same way we all see her...

@kyrilascully7828 Жыл бұрын
Mayim, your self-perception reminds me of my own. I also had thyroid issues--Graves Disease that flipped into Hashimoto's at menopause. I have to ask you to ask yourself (you need not be accountable to me!) what happened in your childhood that might have triggered that negativity about yourself? I had a narcissistic mother who constantly complained about everything about myself. I was very creative and talented but my mother would say, who ever told you you could sing/act/write? Well, Gene Roddenberry, for one, and other famous writers for another, and other actors and singers. But I couldn't hear their voices because my mother's voice was the loudest and most constant. My mother simultaneously wanted to live through me and was completely jealous of me and did everything she could to prevent me from having any success. So I've struggled with my self-perception and can't really accept compliments to this day and I'm pushing 70.

It's so refreshing to hear someone be so open and honest and not say what they (or their publicists) think we (as the viewing public) want or should hear. I love that Kelly isn't glammed up for this. She is gorgeous. And what makes these Breakdown podcasts special is that we get to see celebrities as people. She isn't Kelly Clarkson the entertainer right now. She is Kelly Clarkson the human being. I watched the one with Oliver Hudson and Will Wheaton and Kunal. We got to see them being themselves along with their vulnerability. The world needs this. The world needs to remember that celebrities are people first. Intelligent human beings as that. It is humbling. We see celebrities on talk shows but it's not like this. It is staged and mostly a PR stunt. Furthermore we are learning about ourselves through all of this. ❤💖

I think the difference between these two strong women and their self-confidence is the age when they began working in the industry. Although K was just out of high school, there is a vast difference between a 19-year-old's and a 12-year-old's ability to stand up and learn to set boundaries. M probably had to do what she was told to do a lot more while in the public eye. I love both of these strong ladies and wish them well.

Mayim, even if you don't think you are on the same popularity train, which you are, look at all the people you have reached, helped, touched, and lifted up, just by seeing/hearing you. In all you have done, your energy lifts people. It's not about what you wear, or how you look. You are beautiful, just the way you are. We create with our thoughts, the more you allow yourself to be in a place of self-doubt, worry, and fear, the more you create. When you know that happiness has nothing to do with any other human on the planet, it is simply where you allow your thoughts in the moment. You can then choose to consciously take your thoughts to things that make you smile and happy instead. Create a new habit. Then you too can have the Kellytude and the inner power and peace. Also, when you think something and your gut goes icky, that is your internal guidance telling you that your thinking wrong. Consciously correct that. So, live consciously, connect with your higher self, and be yourself authentically. Laughter, playfulness, joy these are good things you bring to people, please see how you lift people, and get excited. Life is as good as you choose it to be. Abundant blessings to you always. Much love.

Totally agree with Kelly 100% !!! Back here in the Philippines we do have an expression that says, "DEADMAH" which means something like "I'm dead to care too much right now". We all have a space in this world and we do must give importance on the time we go through and process things, be it good or bad. And I am so loving it the way Kelly has this "deadma" attitude towards things that she strongly feels that is not beneficial on her process on some things.

I ask you the same that Kelly asks you here: WHY? Why a cool, witty, intelligent, beautiful with “sexy calves” (as you say) but definitely gorgeus and sexy woman can feel so bad for herself? I couldn’t agree more with Jonathan and Kelly, dear Mayim! We love you the way you are. Because you’re able (and this is very, very difficult to achieve) to show us in a wonderfully raw but sincere way, the natural beautiful inside-out of you. And there’s a big amount of beauty there! Period. Head and soul up, my dear! You worth tons of 💎💎💎💎! Waiting what Beverly has to say about this! In the meantime, thumbs up for my fav woman! 👍🏼💜💜 And btw, all your dresses at Emmy’s red carpet were gorgeous, but you in that electrical blue at 2014 ceremony were STUNNING!!! 💙

Sometimes, people can be told all these things repeatedly (as Mayim has been), but aren't able to hear it. Because of prior experience as a child, life stress, and other reasons. There are non-medication techniques for addressing this via the body (because the intellect has little to do with it), that Mayim can try when she's ready. @@Historian212 In the part of telling her repeatedly I absolutely agree with what you say. But I disagree in other: intellect, mind and soul is the only one able to overcome any self-esteem question. But in a warm way, I was trying to coach her here….

Love both Mayim and Kelly, each have qualities everyone should have. Mayim stay in the fight for mental clarity and you and Kelly stay as awesome as you are. Kelly your voice is one in a million. Absolutely love watching and listening to you both. Growing up in a home where I was neglected and pushed aside by my mother I can relate to not feeling good enough.

I love that she talks about thyroid health in connection with mental health. I am someone who struggled with mental health from ages 4-23 and could never figure out why until I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and since being treated for it, I have been able to stabilize so much more mentally and emotionally without that constant storm of inconsistency in my hormones and body chemistry

I had thyroiditis once, fortunately I made a full recovery, but in addition to the extreme pain my brain and emotions were a mess. I couldn't think clearly and I was always crying without even thinking about a reason.

Dr. Bialik: We need you to televise an hour with YOUR therapist AFTER your therapist watches this episode. I think you have revealed more about yourself to yourself than you have previously. Kelly should be in your orbit of close, personal friends. You two are good for each other.

This woman makes me feel good to be me. The courage it takes to be yourself doesn't come easy to some, like me. It wasn't always that I hated myself, it was that the world would hate me. I love me. It's the world that has the problem with anybody who doesn't act "normal." I hope to meet her one day and see what kind of conversation comes out of it.

I loved the whole episode. I have self-esteem issues too and have a hard time taking compliments. So great to see Kelly working to empower you to understand you're an amazing person. This coming from someone who has a hard time not worrying about everything I say or do all the time. Keep these wonderful podcasts coming and try not to be so hard on yourself.

OMG I didn’t know these podcasts were on KZbin 🥰 I love Kelly Clarkson. I think this is my 5th time listening to this one. Mayim, I discovered your podcast when I heard Kelly was on it. I am learning so much about mental health. Listen to Kelly, there is absolutely nothing wrong with you. You’re extremely educated, intelligent, funny, beautiful and have such a great personality. Keep up the good work!

I couldn’t agree with Kelly more. You are all the things and more she mentions. I love how down to earth you all are. We as the public love this more down to earth side than what Hollywood thinks we want to see. Please keep being who you are. You both are beautiful people.

I'm a huge fan of Kelly Clarkson , I have been watching her since IDOL, she is inspiration for me, she is so sweet, down to earth and so real. I have learned so much in this interview, Kelly and Mayim are so much a like. It's definitely not a bad thing. Mayim you are so loved and beautiful and so is Kelly. Mayim, please don't think badly about yourself, you are amazing. This interview was way too short, I could listen to you guys talk for hours and hours. I am such a Huge fan of both of yours, and I follow you both constantly. I love you both so much. I understand and stand by you and what you both believe in . It's so nice to see you both in the real you, no glam, just being your true authentic selves. You both are so powerful women. I love you both so much. Keep being yourselves.

I just saw this video and I have to tell you Kelly Clarkson is awesome! She is an amazing down-to-earth person ......and I'm 68 and when I grow up I want to be just like her! LOL As I get older and have developed self-esteem I have started to speak up for myself and not care what other people think. I have respect for other people's opinion even if I don't agree with them. Listen, everyone has an opinion and if somebody doesn't want to agree with me that's fine I don't care, I just would like them to respect me for my opinion. It's a hard thing to do but as long as you develop a positive attitude and Learn To Love Yourself fully for who you are you can change how you feel about yourself. Kelly's attitude is genuine and priceless. Truly best interview ever!😍

My Dear Dr Bialik, I cried with you on this interview. I too look good on paper (at a much less accomplished level) but feel otherwise. It is something I have worked on all my life. Consider this. What if “you are enough?” (BTW you are, we all are) Sit and think about only that. “I am enough”. How would you live differently? Kelly was great. I really liked how she opened up. The switch happened when her TX accent came out. 😂 I have so much to share with you. I love this show. Keep going. It is so authentic, real, vulnerable, brave and inspiration for introspection. I loved Amy Ferra Fowler but I love even more this window to the amazing, real, multidimensional woman you are. Keep going. You truly are enough. Thank you for putting yourself, not just a character, so authentically in the public eye. I applaud and appreciate your courage. ❤ from Texas.

This was SO powerful and relatable on SOO many levels! I literally had to change my life around to avoid taking meds, and it is still a whole comittment, especially now that social and recreational interaction is becoming a thing again. I also agree that wellness is an elitist and unattainable luxury for those who most need it and shouldn't be.

I just saw this in my feed and was very curious because 1 Mayim is one of my favourite actress since Blossom and 2 Kelly is one of my favourite singers. Then hearing Mayim talk about her feels made me think of my own. I understand how you feel however you have it soooooo much worse because you are in the public eye. But I think that 99% of the public think you are awesome. You are kick ass smart, you are over the top hilarious and you are very naturally beautiful. Your smile is infectious. Love your new show for that reason. You are awesome. Don’t let yourself (or anyone else) tell you any different. 😘 love you girl!!!!

I loved this podcast. The first that I knew about Kelly Clarkson was when you went on her show, and she came across as a genuine woman with practical life knowledge beyond her age (I'm too in my over-thinking head to be) and I admire her. This was a very interesting and joyful podcast as I learned about positive attitude (which I'm working on) plus giving herself unconditional care. Very insightful, this is the best podcast so far. Best wishes until next Tuesday.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at 2 months old and have been taking medication for it. It's been stable for many years. Had it checked a short time ago and it was normal. Now in my mid 50's and going through menopause so the hormones and mood swings are at an all-time high which I hate and little to no energy.
