So glad I found your site, your teaching materials, and your WAL! I've recently gotten a RH loom, have made a few things, including a dishtowel, and am excited to dive into this weaving journey with others! January is perfect timing, too! Thanks so much!

would I be able to do the weave along on my table loom
@KellyCasanova4 жыл бұрын
You could, but the pattern is written for the rigid heddle loom and the video will be on a RHL too.

Is this suitable for a brand new weaver?? I gave never warped or wove. I do have a 4 shaft Baby Wolf

Probably not Elizabeth, I would try some more beginner level projects first 😊

Hi Kelly! I just subscribed to your blog post, but I have no idea what I'm doing! How do I find the blog post on your newest weaving project? Thank you so much! I have truly enjoyed and learned from your KZbin videos!

Usually the newest post is at the top of the blog (though, at the moment I have the Gift Guide pinned to the top, so the newest post is the next one underneath that).

I tried making a scarf and it is so stiff it's more like a table runner. Is it the weft? I used a soft beautiful yarn from knitpicks hawthorn but knitpicks dishie for weft. I'm afraid to begin my next project until I know what went wrong. Thanks for your videos and classes. Your amazing!!👍👏💯💗

What sett did you weave at Stacey? Did you do a wrap/sett test with your yarn beforehand? It's most likely that your yarn was too thick for the heddle you used.

@@KellyCasanova I used 7.5 that came with the 42inch Ashford heddle loom and I used worsted weight yarn. The dishie I used as weft was stiff. Since it's meant for dish clothes that makes since. Could I use a smaller cotton and get a drapey fabric? Like 8/4 for warp and a worsted for weft?I have bought several books including "learning to weave" I feel like its writing in a forean language and in black and white. I so wish you would write a book. You speak and I understand. Please let me know what you think I should do . Thanks for your time . Your faithful follower Stacey Barrett

Can you please help me? I’m new to weaving I’ve done fine with acrylic yarn, but when I try to use cotton yarn the tension seems fine when my heddle is in neutral, but when I put the heddle up or down, the thread in the holes are tight and the thread in the slots are loose. I’ve tried everything I’ve seen online and in weaving books for warping. I’m using paper as a warp separator, having someone help me wind it in. Everything seems fine until I put the heddle up or down. It’s an ashford rigid heddle.

I just found your video with tips for using finer yarn. I’m hoping the cardboard sticks will be the solution to my problem. I’ll give it a go tomorrow. Thanks for all your great advice.

It will definitely help. Finer cotton is a real challenge to tension well on a RHL, as the holes are always going to be tighter than the slots. Some weavers will warp with the heddle in the down position to put more tension on the slot threads. I haven't tried that, but it may be something for you to keep in mind if the looseness is a real issue for you.
