A book club is such a good way to stay in touch with friends from other states! I moved to the other side of the country from most of my friends (besides the new ones I made here of course!), and a book club would be so fun for us to use to catch up and discuss a topic without feeling pressure.

As someone who mostly works from home (in a hybrid setting where majority I’m at home), I do find it very isolating. I recently moved back home with my parents after living alone for several years, and I’ve actually found it helps a lot with feelings of isolation, so much that I’m planning on staying here for s while (even though I’m in my late 20’s). All my friends from growing up here have moved away, and it’s just difficult making friends as an adult, especially as a person who primarily works from home and is single.

I am a Scorpio too, and also a planner. It doesn’t have to be minute by minute but when I’m doing stuff I prefer to have a rough plan in place at least. My mother-in-law is the complete opposite, at 6p she’s trying to figure out what to make for dinner, and me I’ve decided what I’m making around 9a and thawing meat if need be and I’ve pulled out all the non refrigerated ingredients lol

Hearing you talk about marriage was so reassuring. I’m only 24, but about half of my class (grad school) are either married, engaged, or in long term 5+ year relationships. 8/35 of us are single. I was shocked!

On the topic of marriage, about 20 years ago a neighbor lady of mine married when she was 33 -34. Then she singlehandedly raised 2 daughters after her husband died a few years ago. When I asked her did she ever wishes she got married sooner, so her kids would have been way grown up at the time her husband passed away. She said no, because if sooner it wouldn't be him that she chose, many of her friends married at younger age, and they end up seperated years later (Remember this was about 20 years ago in Vietnam, at the time being unmarried at 30s is often seen as a failure). Her marriage was short and there were a lot of struggles, but she said she never regret it.

I work from hi=ome, and I'm a big introvert with social anxiety. I kind of like not having the tension of socializing with coworkers and worrying if I'm pleasant or coming off as harsh, direct, aloof or rude. I go out around my neighborhood, say hello to neighbors, walk to the mall and see people there, and talk to my friends via chat and sometimes we meet and do stuff. I socialize in a safe for me way, rather than the forced way an office setting gives.

I’m so happy that there’s a bit of camaraderie within KZbin creators. I’ve been in my field for 21 years and I always feel like an outsider. in fact I had to completely quit Instagram because the loneliness of the para social relationships got me down. Luckily I recently found some mentors sho I’m on the same page. and in the end it’s not about my peers but the people I do the work for. But still, I can get lonely out there! I’m 40 and wanting to make more friends, it’s hard. I even live in an urban area (Portland) and find myself people watching or going to coffee shops just to be around others 😂

I love WFH! I am a big time introvert so meeting up with friends and family a few weekends a month is the perfect level of socialization for me. I always found it super draining to be surrounded by coworkers (acquaintances) all day and having to make small talk with them, so eliminating that has only brought more energy and relaxation into my days.

Marriage and kids don't make that feeling go away. Trust me. Been married for 15 years, 4 kids, career in tech and I still feel like I'm doing nothing with my life sometimes. Hubby just gives me the side eye and gets me back on my depression meds when I'm like this lol. It's a good idea to NOT rush into marriage and kids. Vet him very well before you get serious and make sure he'll make not only a good husband but he'd be a great dad to your kids. Marriage is a very personal decision and it's important to be upfront and intentional if that's what you want.

I'm totally a planner for vacations and when friends/family visit, making full itineraries like you do. However, my husband is the complete opposite and wants to "do whatever we feel like that day," so I've had to pull back haha. I try to compromises and make reservations for some things but leave parts of the vacation open.

I live in NYC and work from home. It is isolating, but I've found that prople are more apt to talk at coffee shops and libraries and places where people congregate because so many people work from home now. I do enjoy working from home but I'm human and still need to be social.

You should try a Retinaldehyde instead of tret! It works basically the same (one conversion away from retinoic acid) and no dryness !!!

Regarding the peri-oral dermatitis, I had the same problem for like 2 years and finally switched my differin gel to every other day at night and I use a spin brush to wash my fave at night as well. It made all the difference.😊

before I retired I worked for 25yrs as a supervisor in a shop busy job my daughter works for a bank in the insurance department which is based at home it's nice as you don't have to travel for work proper dinner dreams but she finds it really isolating we often have 3hrs telephone calls as we live in different towns she's fed up it has it's pros and cons couldn't do it personally I take my hat off to you xx

My second comment: do you know Dr. Sherine Idris here on KZbin? She says that for her and so many of her patients (she’s a cosmetic dermatologist) she recommends avoiding putting tretinoin around the mouth for this exact reason. She says people don’t really get used to it, because this area has such a quick cell turnover. instead she puts tretinoin over the rest of face and around the mouth chin uses an over-the-counter retinol.

I've never read and have barely heard of The Alchemist - but I'm much too old for it to be assigned HS reading. (Was it even translated into English yet?) I am working on my Portuguese, though, so maybe I'll use it as partial motivation! (European, so I hope written Brazilian isn't too much different. Brazilian accents confuse the heck out of me after growing up with European Portuguese!) I'm sure this is buried now and nobody will read it ☺, but everytime a creator does an AMA, there are always comments asking them to share "what they eat in a day", etc. These comments alone are enough to trigger people with EDs (ahem), so I really appreciate you not doing that!! I mean, showing a meal is fine for most people, but yeesh...

to me it’s a bit weird seeing these KZbinrs in their very expensive house, cars, accessories, clothing, shoes, etc promoting shein or other cheap fashion brands because of how affordable they are when clearly they have the money to not shop from these brands. I understand they are trying to relate to their audience who most likely don’t have the money they have but it’s just weird and makes it seem more fake since most of the other stuff they promote is more expensive then shein or other fast fashion brands
