You did a great job. May I suggest adding one board (2 x 6 maybe?) to give them a catwalk 10 feet long that stretches from each platform at the corners? Cats love to be up high and it would give them more area to lounge. Thanks for sharing!

You might be a cat person in the making. They dont demand a lot of attention like dogs and let you know if youre not performing to their expectations, but a cat’s energy in a house is a very positive thing.

I love that you thought of the cat grass. Very nice job! My daughter just built a catio that is similar, we already had the deck with a roof on it, but had to build a door because we only used half of the deck. Really simple after watching videos on the Tube. :)

This is really awesome! I have a balcony and have been trying to plan how I can make it a space for my single female cat who definitely would benefit from more enrichment than just the door open and screen blocking her. Thank you for taking the time to share how you did this! Two questions: How do you access and refill/change the contents of the bird feeders, and also how did you reach out to the overhang to install those like that? I have a similar roof situation but not sure how to tackle bird feeders outside of the catio. I suppose they aren't necessary, but sure is nice!

My neighbors have dogs they often let out at night or real early morning .This is a good thing for the dogs but they are huge dogs and tend to carry the cats off ...I do often wish I could afford a safer situation for them to be out side and can get away from this and other possible danger .I like your ideas .

the condos were here but there was trees back there, (always a freeway) then they killed the tree's to put up the wall and a larger on-ramp.. i'm about 20 minutes out of seattle.

Hi! Good job on the catio. I know this was posted a few months ago and I would like to have an update as to how it has been holding up with weather and time. Is it still sturdy and do you think you have to replace the wood on it?
@Elecyview5 жыл бұрын
It held up fine for a year at which point I had to take it down for construction. The wood was dirty but mostly fine. It was under cover so only blowing rains got onto it in the winter. I recently painted it all black and put it back up. It's still just as strong. No failure anywhere.
@nerdymiumiu5 жыл бұрын
Kelly's Rambling awesome! Thank you for the quick response. I’m thinking of building this for my two babies soon. I’m not too construction inclined but i think with some help I might be able to pull it off. I’m keeping your video for reference. Thank you!

Please, Please people do not use the hummingbird syrup that they sell that is red. It has dye that causes tumors to develop on the bird's tongue that renders them unable to drink/eat. All you need to do is mix 1part sugar to 3 parts hot water. Shake until dissolved and let it come down to room temperature before adding to a feeder. I use a water container with a screw top like the water bottles you would carry water in (with a wide mouth) when walking, hiking, etcetera. I mark on the outside a line where to fill with sugar to and that way you don't need to measure. I get two fillings of syrup per water bottle and change it every few days. Make sure to refrigerate what is left over after the first filling.

@@Elecyview when your cat was at the fencing it looks very close & if it's close they'll try it I promise you. The patio is great but I'd definitely make sure the netting isn't even tempting to them to try. I've seen other people do this & I'd have to go & help get their cat's head out of the bent wire. Usually cutting them out with a nearly suffocated cat. I even had to cut a cat loose from a chain link fence. Which is about a 4 inch square. If you're with them all the time out there, it might not be so bad. But, I wouldn't let them be out there alone. If they try to get through it and it's high up you could find one of your babies hurt or dead. I wouldn't want that. I'm only telling you to hopefully have nothing happen to ur babies. I have literally been saving cat's since my mom told me I found a kitten in a hole & dug it out with my hands. She said she went running and I was getting up hugging the baby to my chest. A new house & must have been in the hole when they smoothed the yard over. Smokey was my first kitty. I love cats. My dad used to say I'm part cat. I don't want to see them hurt. Rewatch your own video when your cat's there by the fencing. A simple sideways thrust in & your cat's stuck . If a bird would land on the fencing & make it want to get at it. Plz 4 ur babies sake. Check & double check.
