Hey Chris, when I first picked up my CMR-30 a few years ago I managed to develop a reload technique for it that I think significantly helps speed things up, and it's incredibly quick and seamless despite the unusual heel push release. Essentially you use your shooting grip hand to reload (Sacrilege I know) in one fluid motion by dropping your hand, pushing the heel of your palm into the release paddle, catching the mag as it drops, and then either simply dropping it or stowing it as you reach for your new mag, and then seat the fresh mag snugly into the grip with your pinkey as your other fingers find their place on the grip again. This technique lends itself very well to tactical reloads where you retain your magazine since the action of reaching down for the magazine is one in the same with the action of removing the old one. With your support hand keeping the rifle steady shouldered and on target you can get very rapid reloads very reliably without spending too much time reacquiring your target. Give it a try next time you take your "MP7 at home" out to play!

I had one of these a few years ago, and a lot of the things you said here rang true. When it's clean, and the mags are loaded properly, this thing was one of my favorites to shoot, with fast follow-up shots and pretty high accuracy to boot. But, that's only when those are met, and if even one of those things are not true, it turns into a jamming machine. I even had to send mine back to Kel-Tec when the bolt blew up on me one time. Maybe it was an older model, or I hadn't cleaned it properly, but that was still an issue that was rather annoying. I sold it after about a year of owning it as I wasn't using it as much, but had the reliability been improved, or the tolerances been loosened, I probably would still have it to the day. It all worked out, as I used the money from selling it to make a fun 10/22, but maybe someday I'll return to it, and give it another try. Chances are I'd probably get an SU-16 beforehand though lol. Great video btw!

I cleaned out the mags, light sanded (600 grit) any sharp edges, and given it a wipe with the dry lube. Cleaned the heck out of the gun and used a light coating of the same lube. When I used regular CLP or WD it seemed to gunk up, foul out quicker and malfunction. Trying out the “Stuff and Things” mag extension, hopefully this week if I can get out to the range. Great video. Loading the magazines with absurd consistency and accuracy is key. I feel that all of the breakages within the firearm come from massively irregular handling of the cartridges due to mag load anomalies.

The KelTec Bullpup 12 gauge is bad ass. I know a guy who had one and I absolutely love it….

I’ve wanted the CMR30 since it came out, they’re so damn cool. I don’t care that it’s kel tec, i need it

Get one but make sure you get a speed loader because the mags are unique and difficult to load.

22WMR is a strong round!Stronger than expected...heck even a tube fed semi auto...Is a good defense gun....Nice video!I really like that kel tech...in close varmint gun....or shoot at everything gun...just for fun...surprised it doesn't have 2 barrels...Maybe 3 barrels it would jam less!...Thanks for the.video...never heard of this gun...until now!

I never thought I'd buy a .22 WMR gun, but then I picked up a Savage B22Mag rifle. Not sure why I bought it, with the lame plastic stock, but it is great fun, much more than any .22LR gun, very accurate, nice and light, now one of my favorites. I have been drooling over the CMR30 too.

Of what you did, the only part I'd switch out is the feed ramp. I'd also disassemble the magazines and make sure they're de-burred. Then try only putting 25 rounds in and see if that solves the problem. The longer barrel isn't that much of a problem for me. Gun isn't heavy enough for that.

my pmr30 has always been really reliable. I have always wanted to get a cmr30 for the perfect pair but haven't gotten around to it. the only thing i don't like is the plastic mags and the heel mag release..

Mcarbo will be coming out with stainless steel magazines for this platform I'll be interested to see how it helps the reliability

Maybe ruger will offer the LC Carbine in .22 magnum?

Ty very informative. Been considering one of these for pest control around the farm

Perhaps a CMMG 5.7 with LWRC Uciw Stock Kit might be a better choice. Especially since that would take an already SBR'd AR lower?

If it goes up in price now I'm going to be so mad. I've been looking at them specifically for packing the past 4 months 😂 Great video

I take it back, after adding the all in 1 upgrade kit from Mr. Carbo to my PMR-30 I ran 3 full 30 round magazines thru it with no malfunctions! Yay!

My pmr 30 issues were the mags. Once i left them loaded for awhile haven't had issues

Its kinda funny, that sight setup is exactly what i run too. Romeo 5, and a holosun 3x. My only gripe is that the dot teardrops really bad with the magnifier

Had trouble with FTF's in FTEs. Wound up trading mine at a gun show. Love the 22 magnum round though and now I have the Smith and Wesson pistol. Much better option then either the PMR or the CMR. I am hoping they will come out with a foldable MNP version like they just did the 9 mm.

Got one about 3 years ago. Must have put 2000 rounds through it with no problems and I got to be honest, I never noticed the extra weight from the stock barrel. Still got the stock feed ramp. Got a red dot on it. This lucky gunner must be a bit wimpy.

I’m liking my CMR 30. Like you I wonder if Smith will make a carbine that takes their 30 round mag.

If i had a bigger chunk of property with a small critter problem then this could be a nice option based on weight and size. However, i feel there's a lot of higher quality options who's caliber would be sufficient for a wider range of critters. I like my ksg, can't say I'm interested in this one.

i like the 5.7 version they made a little while ago that takes p90 mags
