I gotta say, you put out the best videos with the best topics. I miss the 90’s model off duty looks because they truly felt authentic. There was nothing better than seeing Kate Moss leaving a show or just out and about in a t shirt and jeans…and it looked so chic and cool and authentic to her. In fact it was so cool to see what all of the “Supers” of that era wore during their casual down time. Lots of basic t shirts and jeans and leather jackets, but there was always a killer bag, like a birken or Chanel. I love Kendall, but her looks aren’t authentic. I feel like her style is all owed to her stylist. You know she isn’t picking out most of what’s she’s photographed in. And as much as I love seeing a total runway look from the Row or Bottega out in real life, it just doesn’t feel as authentically cool as Kate and the other Supers from the 90’s. Today’s model off duty is too thought out and contrived. Again don’t get me wrong, I love seeing Kendall rock Khaite and the Row….and even though those clothes are so damn cool, it just doesn’t feel as fresh or genuine as 90’s looks. However I do think we get authentic glimpses of genuine personal style from Bella and Emily Ratajowski. There’s a casualness to their looks and vibes that Kendall is missing. She’s a little too polished a little too often for her style to be truly “off duty” lol. Again you consistently put out videos with really interesting topics that are more thoughtful than what most other fashion content on KZbin. I have a feeling your channel is really going to take off in 2024!

You said it perfectly. I’m so sick of commercialized fashion.

I am so with you on missing the 90s. Seeing these iconic women just dress based on instinct and how they felt in the moment is something so rare. Great point about models wearing "total looks off the runway" as too contrived versus being able to integrate the item naturally into ones own wardrobe. Fully agree that Bella and Emily are doing their own thing and it's so refreshing to see. Always appreciate you watching Pat❤❤❤

@Marysroom I just want to compliment your manner in presenting the various subject matter framing (Audrey, Kendall etc) each in a historic perspective, very insightful and very enjoyable as well as helpful in styling my own wardrobe. Thanks Mary!

So so happy to hear your commentary on Kendall’s style!!! Especially in the last year/two years, Kendall has really relied on Dani for her looks, from errands to red carpets, nearly 100% of the time which is definitely an interesting concept. Whereas I LOVE Dani Michelle as a stylist, I also think the only frustrating part of brand deals/partnerships is it makes it hard to tell when a celebrity is being dressed/dresses in clothing just because they love it vs when they’re being paid to wear it. I.E. I think a lot of people found it fishy that Kendall wore Phoebe Philo to go shopping at The Row, which felt a bit staged (of course all alleged but just how I immediately reacted, and that doesn’t take away from how beautiful the outfit was 😍). The Row may be the only brand she organically wears/doesn’t get paid to wear (again alleged lol), but it’s a real testament to how much she loves them because her wardrobe is so heavily comprised of The Row 🖤 All this is to say, I LOVED the Bottega paparazzi style campaign, especially with ASAP Rocky, even though all these street style photoshoot were inspired by Yeezy, but the Bottega team did it best in my opinion. I’d be so curious to hear your thoughts on Emily Ratajkowski’s “off duty model” looks as she gets papped every day it seems, and doesn’t seem as though she has a style for every day looks 🤎

Her looks have been so inspiring and Dani is doing a phenomena job!! I feel you, it's hard to know to know when a celebrity authentically loves a brand, but I think the hope is that they take on these gigs because they fit with the brand, especially for these off-duty marketing opportunities. She really does wear the Row in such a chic and effortless way, always a joy to see! I also do think Kendall is such a perfect pick for Bottega and just feels more authentic with the direction of her style. Also absolutely love Emily's style evolution. She in the 2010s embodied that millennial hot girl style but now is fully in her fashion mode era in the best way. Thank you so much for watching❤❤

She walks brilliantly in the shows. She’s a joy to watch on the runway and she moves a lot of units or RTW wouldn’t be starting her.

i think Kare Moss off duty style in 90s-2000s really impacted women globally, bc it was really genuine, easy, pretty and creative. but about KJ - i'm not sure, too sponsored.

"off duty" style became popularized due to its candid nature; people wanted to see celebrities be expressive in the way that they styled themselves but of course this has mostly been exploited by marketing now. just because kendall or hailey or emily or whoever wear an outfit doesn't necessarily make it representative of their personality. like you said - if their job is to model, and they're modelling, what is off duty about that? covert marketing aside, i just find it boring. i appreciate people like bella hadid or lily rose depp or even zoe kravitz (famously wears head to to toe the row) who you can tell put some thought into what they wear, it's fun for them and not just an opportunity to capitalize off of being photographed.

Yes definitely! "Model off duty" is almost always on duty for models/reality stars due to social media watching their every move. Thank you so much for watching and sharing❤

I have to admit that i like looking at Kendall's photos but tbh, it's insanely disappointing to have those manufactured style icons. While her clothes fits her well and fits the aesthetic designed by her stylist, it feels very unauthentic. Quiet luxury is the trend and she embody that trend. It's super chic but it's also pieces that we won't see worn again by those same people. I think what people like about a fashion icon is first the style but also the kind of reliability in the fact that they are wearing clothes they like. I think what is interesting about Kendall or Hailey is that they blurs the lines. They are 100% working all the time. Their paparazzi shots are now part of their jobs. Their everyday moments are content for the brands or for their own personal branding on social media.

Yes I think there is something about how models in the 90s wore their clothes in authentic ways, versus Kendall and many other models/reality stars due to social media monetized for every move they make. Great point about them wearing these clothes once and never again, versus "quiet luxury"' as investment timeless pieces. Thank you so much for watching and sharing❤

I don’t think she has any STYLE😅I feel that she just wear whatever on the latest trend and it’s not that hard for her because she’s rich she can buy anything, like those phoebe philo whole outfits. She literally just wore the way the clothes models wear. Nothing really stands out. Still miss those 90s 2000s supermodels and it girls like Kate Moss. They were genuinely cool and models like Kendall is just trying to be cool and you can definitely see their trying which is awkward😅

did you see hte video of her 'what I wear in a week" researching this? She doesn't wear my taste in fashion, except one pair of boots that weren' shown here but some like it. The ones she likes are currently an unfashionanle height that i prefer over current fashion. And she dresses nothing like this ad campgain. Now they'll pay her to wear their clothes 'off duty"? That's a step up from free clothes. We're so inundated by marketing,. Who is doing interesting studies on how that effects us? For example I think the biggest marketing coupe is to convince people to wear your logo, advertise for you. and pay you a fortune to do it. Next is to convince women their purse needs to cost thousands of dollars. I see women wearing $200 in clothes with a $3k purse all the time now. i also love expensive purses but i love expensive clorhes too, lol.

I haven't seen that video. I definitely think for many of these models/reality stars especially today, everything they do is monetized. Yes it would be interesting to know how the marketing affects us. Thank you so much for watching❤

@@MarysRoom How One Woman Escaped Our Mindless Shopping Culture, I have alot of ideas about how marketing invades our brain in a toxic way but this video takes it to another level (start at tools and watch the next one to save time). i pretty much hate the no pants trend and know that she would have never ever worn that unless she was paid big $$ and now people are saying "she likes this trend". No, she likes money more than being authentic.

I could care less about Kendall but will admit she does have a great stylist. I will say Bottega Veneta is better than this celebrity papparazzi campaign. Felt more Balenciaga, gimmicky and cheap.
