I've done the same thing. I reversed my Type 2 Diabetes completely. I had an A1C of 8.5 and sometimes higher. I started with Keto and have moved on to Carnivore and feel better than I have in 30 years. My A1C is now way below normal. 5.3. Dr. Berry was my inspiration.

Were you supervised by your doctor during the process? How did you manage cutting out your meds ? Did you follow a specific protocol? I'm trying to get my family off their meds & on keto but they are afraid of stopping their meds

@@EvaMariposa I have regular check ups when needed, but it's hard to find a doctor that is Keto/Carnivore friendly. Because of the AMA, they have to tell people to eat the Standard American Diet and are not very cooperative. That said, I follow and listen to Dr. Berry and Dr. Rob Cywes mostly. If I need something I go to the doctor, else I follow their teachings and do things mostly on my own. I do my own A1C home tests as well and take my BG & Ketone reading regularly. I no longer take Metformin, I got off of that last year. I now take Berberine instead because although my A1C is excellent now, I still have some insulin resistance I'm working through. It'll get better in time. Dr. Berry has a video on how to find a Keto Friendly doctor in your area. I'll be seeing one soon. Dr. Berry and Dr. Cywes have both said that it's a good idea to stay on meds for a while after starting Keto/Carnivore until A1C and BG come down and then taper off. If it's type 2 Diabetes you're talking about, it will improve in a few months. Mine dropped drastically in only 4 months. So I'm not giving medical advice of course, but this is my experience so far.

Here's my story. Never had a doctor and I'm 58, I had to go to the hospital for a surgery. I weighed 253 lbs/5' 10 inches tall. They did blood work, come to find out, my A1c was 11.3. No wonder I felt like crap all the time. Any way, I went on an almost no carb diet, I started eating steak,fish,pork,chicken,eggs, and cottage cheese for my dinner for the most part every day and maybe a couple of cookies for dessert. Well, it's been 3 months as of next week, and I have lost 42 lbs. and my A1c is 4.9 now! I feel/and look so much better. Hopefully I can stop taking the Metformin soon my doctor said. P.S, I stopped drinking beer ever night after I got home from work too. I believe that is helping a whole lot as well. Good luck to everyone that has diabetes, you can control it if you really try..... Mark.

@Topazthecat Dr Berry and Dr Ekberg both have videos talking about this very thing. If you are still eating complex carbs like breads and pastas, they may be contributing to the way your body is using fat. I would not suggest you change anything without close monitoring by your doctor, but it may be beneficial to at least look into it. Several people doing keto and carnivore have reversed those conditions. Not saying it would work for you, but researching it only costs you some time but could save you thousands and years added to your life. Hoping the best for you.

@@jimpuff8409 Hi Jim: I'm sure as hell no expert but listing out exactly what you are eating and drinking will reveal the culprit. Try going to one meal a day and then try fasting for 1-3 days with plenty of water. Testing your blood sugar every 24 hours will give you a much better picture. Fruits and fruit juice are my most common suspects. Very few fruits are really sugar free and fruit juices are all just flavored sugar water.

I found out I was pre diabetic after being hospitalized from a motor cycle accident and didn't take it too seriously since the doctors said i shouldn't worry about it too much since it was probably caused by the shock on my system caused by the accident. I was then diagnosed with type 2 diabetes with a blood sugar level of 16 in January 2020 and given a perception of a very hight dose of Janumet. Although I did cut carbs my blood sugar levels stayed high at around 7. At one point was completely emaciated since my weight came down from 180 to 130 pounds for 5'8". Thats when I understood It's not all about body weight. I fumbled across you videos around 6 months ago and officially started keen keto and real food September 2021. So only a little more than 4 months into it and my blood sugar is finally back to normal with and average below 5"3 and now I have been completely off the medication around 1 month now!. Years ago, I was what I call Pre Pre diabetes, meaning my fasting glucose was creeping up every year, but it wasn't yet higher than normal. I asked my doctor about it, and he dismissed it because, at 95, my fasting sugar was "still normal." Along the trajectory, I would become pre-diabetic in about another year. I discovered intermittent fasting before it was a household word. That was 8 years ago, and I've never looked back. I recently checked my fasting insulin, and it's the very lowest end of normal. I understand the fasting insulin is more telling than fasting glucose. I don't eat alot of carbs, but with the fasting, even if I do have an occasional treat, it doesn't seem to affect me. Even after meals my blood sugar rarely Rises above 100 anymore. What a blessing to have learned all this

@Jesse It varies from day to day, except that I really don't exercise. Aside from occasional brisk walk for about 20-30 mins. I start with just a bulletproof coffee, or coffee protein shake (if it's hot out). Never add sugar, only erythritol+monk fruit. I try to push off my first regular meal until at least 1pm; no snack or anything before. Usually a big omelet with veggies, cheese and meat, low carb toast w/ butter. Or a pound of high fight ground beef cooked up with an egg and more veggies. Sometime btw 4-7pm, I'll eat salad greens just about every day, whether on their own or sometimes in a low-carb wrap. I will sometimes use store-bought dressing (avocado oil only, no sugars), or make my own zero carb dressing: Olive oil, ACV, lemon juice, oregano, garlic salt, black pepper. I might snack on salted macadamia nuts, and if my macros aren't complete yet, throw in a piece of 90-95% dark chocolate. On rare occasions I'll roll up a piece of ham in cheddar and eat that for a snack. But I do make sure i'm not exceeding my macros: 6% carb (30g) 23% protein 71% fat 1800 cal/day (to the best of my abilities) I believe in changing up the routine so my body doesn't get complacent with my IF schedule.

Dr Ken. Hello from New Zealand. This is exactly my experience. On January 1st 2019 I combined a Keto diet with no alcohol. Within 3 months I was no longer pre-diabetic. Also I lost 22 Kg (painlessly and PERMANENTLY). I felt better. My current situation is that I am no longer on a keto diet. It is the same a a keto diet but with legumes and some root veges like beetroot and carrots. I think I would have the perfect diet but ... let me confess ... I indulge in a little more 'medicine from Scotland' that I should. You Sir are an inspiration. I am so thankful I found this channel! I have read so many of your comments and you all are making me feel so hopeful and inspired. Thank you! I was diagnosed with prediabetes years ago, and it has remained the same sense. However, my A1c just went up and for the fun of it I decided to just look up how I could have this problem going on when I don’t eat sugar, per se. But I know I get it in all sorts of foods. they only carbs I eat are one fourth of a low carb bagel in the morning with an egg white, I don’t drink any juice or soda or have any candy, cakes, juices, nothing. I’ve never really cared for that stuff. I like saltier stuff, but had to change that up because of my blood pressure. I started intermittent fasting about eight months ago and was pretty much at the 18-6 hour eating plan. I was just two meals a day, but working at home has taken a toll and I seem to often be looking for a healthy snack here and there. Diabetes runs in my family. But after seeing this and everyone’s comments, I’m realizing I have to take better care of myself and change things up more. I’ve been on a bit of a carnivore diet, but it’s not a diet to me because I love chicken and steak. I’m curious what you all eat for breakfast… Your first meal. I can’t do dairy that much, so I’m very curious about perhaps steel cut oats and soy milk or something. Anyway, I’m hoping to turn this around within 3 to 4 months because I absolutely cannot be on any more medication. I have high cholesterol and high blood pressure. So you can imagine what I have to take. This is a good wake up call. And this is the first video I’ve watched about it! Very appreciative of this doctor’s advice. Good luck to everyone, let’s beat this!

She had lost a lot of weight and was sipping green tea. She thanked me for suggesting she get checked out. She was pre diabetic. I did not get a chance to talk in depth so I don’t know what she changed but receiving the diagnosis put her on a healthier path.

Hi Dr., I’m there same place as you. I was diagnosed as a pre diabetic a few years ago, however, I never thought about it much because I don’t eat sweets and I thought only people with sweet tooth get it. Well, little did I know that because I eat a lot of carbs, this was causing the pre condition and not only that, but I was also diagnosed with fatty liver. I have tried to do the keto diet, but again, it’s hard to stay away from carbs, everything has carbs. Now, I’m getting older and not feeling too well. I haven’t been back to the Dr to see what my sugar levels look like, but based on how I feel, I’m sure they’re not good. I will check your other videos to get an idea of WHAT to eat and HOW to start eating. I thought I share just in case it helps others.

I was diagnosed with Type 2 last July.. My hba1c was 10 and my glucose reading was 12mmol (214mg/dl) after two hours post meal. I started to do IF, eating 2 meals a day, lower my carbs intake, eat more protein and fat in my diet. After 3 months I had my blood test again, and my hba1c reading was 5.5 and glucose was 5 1mmol (91mg/dl). No drugs and medication. The doctor said I was no longer diabetic. Well. I just cut out 95% of my sugar intake, still take two cups of rice in every meal because rice is my staple diet (I'm a Malay people from Malaysia where rice is a must in our culture). From my experience, to reverse it does not mean you have to cut out 100% carbs from your diet, all you have to do is to limit your food intake, no more frequent meal as before. Two or three times of eating perday is okay. Eliminate white and refined sugar and eat a healthy and fresh food available. Don't let processed foods go into your body. This is actually the real cause that makes your body sick

Do fasting twice a week from 4.30 am to 6.30 pm. No food or drink between that period. Life could only get better. Still cutting down on carbs gradually. Dr Berry, I have subscribed to your channel for a couple of years now and have appreciated following your journey and transition from paleo to keto to carnivore. I started Keto (and am aspiring to carnivore) and have lost 23 pounds in the few weeks since I started. But, even though I am morbidly obese and am on medication for hypertension, the biggest reason I started was because of the pain from severe arthritis in my knees and ankles. Although I had just about given up on losing weight after a lifetime of yo-yo dieting, I was eager to try this approach with the hope of pain relief. Over the weeks since I started, my pain has declined dramatically. I had been on oral NSAIDS daily for at least a decade. I then moved to topical Diclofenac, but started forgetting to use it, so finally stopped. I still have some pain, but have been fighting through it rather than treating it. My question - and possibly a topic for a video - is when to stop NSAIDS or other pain meds/anti-inflammatory era? Should you wait until the pain is relieved, or merely bearable? Thanks for considering this topic, and for what you do every day to help point people toward a better life.

LOW LOW HEAT Place the bacon in strips in the bottom of the pan on low heat once they have warmed through flip them add eggs on top of the bacon cover a few minutes and both are cooked well through without adding oil or butter to the pan and it slips right onto the plate.

I can't believe it. After a week of fasting and eating fats, my blood sugar is normal. At what point does it stop being a comorbidity for COVID?
@johnwilliams8818
@johnwilliams8818 4 жыл бұрын
I "think" Dennis that factors in with whatever other damage has been done. It will take more than a week for your body to recover from the metabolic disorder. But if you keep your blood sugar low and there are no spikes anymore? From what I have read about COVID... the virus thrives on the High Blood sugar levels, needs the excess sugars to multiply once it gets into the lungs, and that massive (growth?) allows them to incubate and grow into the worst version of themselves... Once that happens? Then the other comorbidities kick in like heart disease, circulatory disorders, immune disorders, etc... So IMO cutting out the sugars and carbs and KEEPING your blood sugar as low as possible? Reduces the "risk" bigly because it takes away the "Food" which the virus depends on to multiply... Which then gives your own immune system a big boost in fighting them off and "adapting" a method to defeat them...

Thank you, doc. You inspire me. I love this testimonial of real experience from a doctor. There are many of you on YT that supports IF, Low Carb/Keto diet. Sadly, still too many doctors have not heard of these new discoveries and continues to fix people with drugs. I had traumatic conversation with those textbook doctors 4 weeks ago and I haven't recovered yet. I am afraid to talk to another one who will say the exact same thing. But big thanks for inspiring me today. At least I have some guidance.

So thank you And you are right sugar is a killer for me. Rather be coke or ice cream anything that has sugar in it. It hurts. But blueberries or raspberries are ok

Three years ago, my doctor asked me to loose 3 to 5 kg. In order to reverse pre diabetes. More excersive and limit the intake of rice. My former diet was quite into salads. That is when I found Keto and I.F. voilá, lost 10 kg easily. Pre diabetes vanished but I cut complexed carbohidrats. Healthy at 61... aiming my 70 s in good health.

My A1c was 6.4 and my doctor wanted to put me on medication. I told her I would not do it but I will change my lifestyle and my diet first to see if the numbers improve. I started eating less carbs and no refined sugars. I signed up at the local YMCA and have been working out four times a week. In four months my A1c went down to 6.0 and three months later it’s down to 5.9. I’ll do eat brown rice, a minimum of pasta and breads, and once in a while I will have a dessert. But as long as I work out regularly and be mindful of what I eat I think my A1c will continue to level out to normal.

WF Plant based. I had diabetes. 5 years vegan, it is gone. I eat tons of fruit and legumes (beans and lentils). I eat no animals, eggs, or dairy. I eat no oils. I eat potatoes, brown rice, oats and sprouted flour less bread with no problems with the carbohydrates on multiple blood panels. My lipid panel is great and my weight loss has stayed off. I don't have to practice any calorie restriction, I eat when I am hungry.

If you keep animal fat and oils low, the fat in your muscle cells will decrease and your insulin sensitivity will return.

I was diagnosed prediabetes 6.1 A1C and all I did was cut down a lot on sugar and white bread and i reversed my prediabetes back to normal in 4 months. For one example when i order a burger i throw away the bottom half of the bun and drink a diet soda. I also eat fruit. My doctor told me i didnt need a glucometer, just check my A1C every 4 months.

CONGRATULATIONS! Great work! You will find that if you ditch ALL sodas, you will be ever so much healthier! They are pure garbage. I have not had a canned drink of any kind for @3 years now. Only drink water, coffee, herbal teas and a small glass of wine with dinner a few nights/week. The idea is to remove all artificial foods in the diet to become healthier, i.e. eat only REAL FOOD.
