Protein is vital for building and rebuilding your body and all of your organs. Yet, there are so many myths out there saying protein is bad for you in some way. This video debunks protein myths that may have been keeping you from eating enough protein for optimal health.

My urologist told me to stop eating beef and chicken. I have had many surgeries to remove abnormally large and irregularly shaped stones. The last one I had was 13x5 mm. They told me this before I started keto. I am afraid every day because of the beef and chicken protein I eat. I have lost 67lbs since February and have not had a stone YET. I just hope it isn’t coming soon. I’m glad you went over this topic.

Look into reducing oxalates in your diet. Most kidney stones are made up of calcium oxalates which are chiefly found in vegetables and nuts, especially almonds! Yes, I was disappointed to hear that too. Look up Sally ... geez, forgot her name. Be right back to update this when I find her name..., ok, it's Sally K. Norton. Excellent source of info on this subject! Good luck and God bless.

I went for a physical last year to a local g.p & told him i consume around 6 whole eggs daily, + red meat 4 times a week but i do have 1 protein shake a day as a quick meal and fats from from avacados & olive oil & butter with little amounts of carbs but i dont think he believed me as i looked so fit, keep up the good work doc

@rollingstart_90s
@rollingstart_90s 3 жыл бұрын
@@mini-wy7us Yes, but as explained in this video, meat/animal based protein is much better for us. Vegan communities are trying very hard to label meat, eggs etc. as the most unhealthy things in this planet, while promoting all the heavenly health benefits of modern day, chemically processed plant based "food like products". I do understand the ethical views that most vegans and plant based diet followers have, but unfortunately that does not change anything. Despite the suffering and death of factory raised animals, that does not make meat bad for human beings. We can go into another subject by talking about antibiotics, GMO grains and all that crap that goes hand in hand with the mass production of meat, and yes... that stuff isn't good for us.

In 1973, I was diagnosed withe Severe Hypoglycemia and Placed on a High Protein low Carbohydrate Diet Supplemented with Mega-Vitamin Therapy. I was always very active and could run full speed, (as fast as I could move my legs without falling on my face), for a mile and almost never run out of strength or energy when I was around 18 yrs old. After being on that Diet for about a month and a half, I actually felt Better and more energetic than I did at 18! Unfortunately, I had to drop the supplements and drop the full diet as I couldn't afford it at that time. As for using Soy products, I had an acquaintance who used a lot of Soy products, Biked everywhere, on the treadmill every morning and Pushed weights regularly. One day he showed me some open sores on his legs and asked me what I thought the Problem might be. I told him to git rid of the Soy and start eating a Greasy Hamburger at least once a week as he seemed to be getting more than a little effete to me. Never did know if he took the advice . . . probably not too well.

I've been the caregiver in our family for many of our elderly family members. I can say first hand that all the elderly that I've cared for, lose their appetite as they age. Partly due to their ability to chew well enough. From my experience, their nutrition needs drastically change. Their nutrition, especially their protein needs actually increase. It seems for them to have the muscle mass and energy it takes to do many things, takes more protein. Just look at their labs. Many times the numbers being out of range are consistently brushed off as part of aging. I call BS. I don't claim to be an expert. Just odd that every senior I've cared for, have a problem meeting their nutritional needs. They eat entry, just not nutritionally well.

Thank you. You answered all of my concerns about protein sources. Im a triple positive Breast Cancer survivor, diagnosed 5 yrs ago at the end of September. My oncologist told me to stay away from Soy products due to the plant based estrogen. Was also told that fat cells can produce estrogen, as can the adrenals. 18 weeks of 4 different chemo agent treatments and a continuation of Herceptin , ending at the year mark. Refused to have radiation. Said goodbye to my “girls” and am now the proud owner of foobs. Am 60+, and had always been told to not overdo the consumption of protein for fear of kidney issues. Was concerned about too much animal protein. The information seems to change daily, depending on sources. It’s so confusing. Thank you Dr. Barry 💗

Hi Crystal, my name is Karen. I am 61 and in my 8th year as a BC Survivor. I also refused to have radiation and instead, insisted that they do a hysterectomy. I figured that if there were any stray cancer cells floating around, they were going to migrate to the female organs where they would be fed off the estrogen and progesterone. My concern about hormones right now is that I am still on hormone suppressants. I have decreased them to four times per week but I do worry that they are contributing to a hormonal imbalance. My husband and I both need to shed pounds and there are so many different ways out there that I get frustrated. I am going to give the keto to carnivore journey a try. So glad to learn someone else out there is on a similar path. Best wishes to you!

Can you (or have you already) address a few things I’m curious about? 1) Is there a nutritional difference between rare beef and beef that is well done? 2) Is chicken a better source of protein than beef? 3) How do the animal meats compare? Is pork still red meat or “the other white meat?” Thanks for your clearly presented informative videos.
@MsAnchovey

Maybe I can suggest a couple of answers here until Dr answers. 1.The less you cook meat the more nutritious it is..except chicken and maybe pork. 2. Beef has been touted as the Meat superfood, especially the organs. 3. Pork isn't a ruminant. A lot depends on how your body works with pork or any meat. Personally, unless straight from a local butcher, I dont eat much pork and once a week chicken. The test is beef and eggs. Im 2 years CV.

Beef is actually the best for you from what I understand… And then chicken and then pork I would say. Is way up there in protein and so is veal but I have a hard time eating Bill, thinking of a natural way they are taken from their mothers and killed. With the meat is incredible. I don't know about it being the other white meat, I think that something manufacturer came up with to get us a pork instead of beef. That's really what's going on right now Bill Gates and the rest of them/the Global globalist want us to get rid of the beef in the pastures and eat their new manufactured junk. Hope this helps a little. I did not see anybody answer your question, and I would probably ask the authorities, but this is what I remember, and all the videos of watched.

Would love it if you could delve deeper into the 30 grams/meal myth. I've heard that one from bodybuilders for decades. I recently watched a video talking about how the body doesn't like to keep nitrogen around and so will remove the nitrogen from any amino acids that don't get used within several hours after absorbing them and excrete the nitrogen in the urine, leaving just the carbon backbone to be burned as sugar. Any truth to that?

I am a runner/cyclist on keto since early February.. I lowered all my exercises to low intensity while my body adapted... Now on some days I have around 150g of pro.. An 200g fats.. Carb under 40 usually... I am only 5ft 1.. All the pro I get is from quality meats an dairy as I am fine on dairy.... When I'm running say 20 mile runs I want to get in enough of everything my body needs and if I was to eat only 80g of pro which is what I apparently should be on could you imagine how much fat I'd need to get in 2500 cals an more.. Think I'd b eating a bar of butter per day.... I'm still learning and I love all these videos that you do :)

My husband doesn’t eat fruit and vegetables, other than onions, only meat and potatoes. People have always told him you must eat fruit and veg otherwise you’ll get sick. He has heard this all his life, he’s now 61 and has rarely been sick. On no medication whatsoever. I guess he was sort of carnivore before it became another way of eating.

People frown upon too many things that are most of the time none of their darny darn darn business :D Like this one time, when doing keto, all I could get was a ball of real mozzarella cheese. I got SO many looks, while eating this ball of mozzarella like an apple. I don't care though, so I kept eating my cheese. I've also eaten meat and salami on the bus, just using a little paring knife to cut pieces off the big chunk :P I'm a rebel :P

It's funny the timing of this video. I just watched someone spewing one of these protein myths today on a "health" channel. It was a video about reversing type 2 diabetes. It was a waste of time to watch; they just regurgitated the same information that old school doctors preach.

I have always used pea proteins and it has worked and made a differences, however! When I decided to go all meat protein, not only is it cheaper and I feel I need less, but I have more muscle mass to body fat, my gains in strength are amazing, my hair and nails actually are shiny and healthy and grown too fast, im cutting my nails at least once or twice a week, and I have more energy.

I told my doctor that I'm on Keto and she ordered kidney and liver tests. I'm chronically tired and always assumed it was because I was always short on sleep, but that's not true since Covid hit because I don't commute anymore. I wanted a full thyroid panel and she refused to do anything more than a TSH. 🙄

@@charliesmith2451 I'm almost 70 (a lady never talks about her age!). Been progressing from LCHF to KETO to CARNIVORE - usual story from what I can gather! Been carnivore for over a year - didn't really take note of when - no problems, sleep well (no Nana naps), BSL normal range, BP normal range, energy up (been ripping up the backyard and cutting down trees etc). Eat 1 to 2 meals per day, all plus plus as far as I'm concerned. Wouldn't dream about going back to my old dietary habits, in fact I wouldn't as now only too aware of the down side of plant foods - also I was a vegetarian/vegan for many years and constantly running into anaemia etc.

Would love to hear your thought on sunscreen (you have made a video before where you said that exposing our selfs to the sun with nothing will be the good thing to do for our health and vitamin D) however, what if we have to spend hours and hours outside !! do you recommend applying it? Also, :( there are many how try to avoid tanning or getting darker under the sun (not cute to have dark face and arms and the rest of your body is way lighter). I get tan even after little exposure so do you have any recommendation on that ? Thank you

if you are on keto or carnovore and fasting, it wouldn't make a difference. All you need is 10 to 15 minutes of sunlight, 3 times a week, any more is a waste. I know Berry and Berg would disagree. There is no studies that show sunscreen causes cancer. Washing up liquid, detergent, plastic from bottled water and teflon non stick pan is bad for you. I still use them. The most important is get your diet on point and you live a long life. The typical diet is 80 percent carbs and trans fat
