I’ve been a type 1 diabetic since 1970. For years my A1c was high, then I reduced my carbohydrate consumption. Then it eventually dropped to under 7.0. With care it was around 6.3 mostly. Going carnivore and paying more attention to my blood glucose levels (spurred on by my doctor, someone Dr. Berry probably knows well) has recently reduced it to 4.9 typically. Not sure I can keep that up, but it’s been around that level for most of a year.

Liking to cook helps and also cooking up batches and using leftovers. HBA1C. I have been waiting for eight years to have a total shoulder replacement. I have already had three operations. One on my right shoulder and two on my left shoulder. My left shoulder wasn't really that bad until I had my first operation. It was done by a trainee surgeon at a teaching hospital. He destroyed my shoulder, and I ended up with a 3mm rotator cuff tear and all my tendons snapped. After the operation, the surgeon who was teaching the trainee refused to examine me and said there was nothing he could do. I was forced to see a second surgeon who was unable to repair the damage done. For eight years I have been trying to find a surgeon who could do the operation, four years ago I found a surgeon who said he could replace my left and right shoulders. I then had a heart attack when I was due to go into hospital. My operation was cancelled for a year. I had a pre-assessment before the next operation admission, where I was told my HBA1C reading of 70 was too high. My appointment was once again cancelled for a year. When I was due to have my third operation I once again had a pre-assessment and once again my Hba1c was 70 and once again my operation was cancelled. I have had to wait another year and now I am due to go into hospital on September 2023. The problem is I have to once again go for an assessment and I am dreading the HBA1C test. I have been a type 2 diabetic for 46 years. I am on insulin and my diabetes is well-controlled. However, I must be doing something wrong to get these results. I wish I knew what it was so I can put it right. I have seen doctors and diabetes-trained doctors and they are no help whatsoever. God help me.

I'd been a type 2 diabetic for several years and had tried counting calories, eating lean protiens, exercising 5 or 6 days a week and I'd always go through cycles of improved A1c and glucose levels, only to eventually end up back with poor numbers and weight gain. I really started learning about ketogenic eating from your videos. In June my A1c was 8.9 and I weighed 239 pounds. I followed a lot of your advice about eating whole foods that really focused on satiety. Had a check up this morning and I'm down to 199 pounds. My A1c was 5.8 and my fasting glucose was 110. My Dr. was very pleased with my progress. My cholesterol and triglycerides have improved tremendously..all due to eating a "proper human diet". After frequent blood donation last year during covid - every 8 weeks my ferritin (iron storage) got very low - so I developed iron deficiency. Now taking iron supplements every other day - and have added beef liver more frequently. When I am normal I will donate - but not as frequently.
@johnkane94723 жыл бұрын
The liver is your best bet. It's complete with all of the nutrients that you need to absorb and maintain healthy iron levels. I would ditch the pills and eat more liver.
@dianegordon46123 жыл бұрын
@@johnkane9472 I will continue to do what I am doing. My ferritin was 11 - the range is 12 to 280. My Hemoglobin remained normal although at the low end last year. FerritinI is now 35. A beef liver supplement every other day (current protocol - every other day) and beef liver a few times a week - beef, etc. and NOT donating blood which I believe was the biggest reason since I regularly eat meat. Interested in seeing next blood work as it is now 30 weeks since last blood donation. Good article in the new England Journal of Medicine on iron deficiency. I am under the care of a good hematologist. The goal is at least 50 - which would mean no longer deficient. So if you are donating blood to lower your A1C eat a lot of beef liver before and after. Don't trade one problem for another.

For quite a few years, I was able to keep my A1C at 5.4 every time I got tested. And that's while taking 32 units of insulin twice a day. Of course that's before I found out that I didn't have to eat the carbs in the first place

I was a full blown type 2 diabetic in 2016. On three different types of medication, and they weren't working. The next step was to prescribe me insulin. I started keto, five years now as of August 2021 . And when I first started, my A1C was 8.1%. And after a short 5 months on keto, my A1C dropped to 6.1%. So 18 months on keto and my A1C was 5.3%. So there was no need for me to keep checking it. Fast forward to my 5th year on keto, I started gaining a lot of weight going through the change, did not change my diet whatsoever and became severely anemic from Menorrhagia. Finally had an Iron Infusion and my doctor wanted to see where my ferritin levels were and also check my A1C eight weeks ago and even though I gained 22 lbs back after losing 57, my A1C is at 5.2%. I was also just recently told that my white blood count is chronically high so I have to go see a hematologist. We need to find out what's going on LOL anywho, Dr. Berry. I have been following your videos for two years and I know I rarely comment but I like every single video you produce. I love you too pieces and love the way you explain everything xo 💜

So glad I have found this wonderful information! You have given me piece of mind around my "high" LDL ( I refuse to take meds for it) but was concerned about my A1C of 5.7... I wondered if giving blood would help me get a handle on that and it sounds like it can. Read that is can bring it down for 2 months? But a good hack to help get ahead while lowering my carbs. Thank you 🙏

Great teaching video. Going on my 4th year of the following fasting, PHD, good foods, and clean living keeps my A1C at 4.7 to 4.8. I believe that a low A1C is the building block of a healthier life and controlling medical costs. For the 1st 2 years I did hot test A1C and test home test were between .2 points of my every 6-month doctor and lab numbers. Using a BG meter and defining the food that impacts your BG is the quickest way to find the trigger food. Dr Berry has helped teach me what works and what fails. My local doctor was very concerned with one test at 4.2 but after looking at my diet he just suggests if my BG gets below 59 you need to eat. As you progress your body tells you when to eat.

Hello Dr. Ken. I'm a regular viewer of your videos. I usually eat Keto OMAD at 2:00 to 3:00 pm and my glucose avarages 110 for the whole day, it is always between 90 and 120, usually never falls below 90!!! My OMAD meal consists of leafy greens: Broccoli, Spinach, mushrooms, Arugula; Lean Meat, Chicken Breast, Chicken Liver and 3 Eggs. My HbA1C is 5.5, so I am not diabetic , but am surprised why my glocose reading usually never falls to 80 even before eating my OMAD lunch. So, I put on the FreeStyle Lebre 2 CGM to see what is happening and decided to see what will happen if I ate Honey, which I never do, I was surprised: If I took 2 tsps of honey at 7:00 pm, my glucose readings, after rising up to 170, falls down rapidly to bellow 60 and sometimes reaches 54! Then returns back to my regular avarage of 110! What is happening?!

The hack of giving blood to lower A1c is ingenious, in times where a hack is needed, I suppose women of a certain age benefit from this because of their monthly cycle too.
