This video is exactly what I need. My listening is not good, I need to hear things 2 or 3 times in a row before I can understand it. Then they give the English, and one more time in Spanish... Perfect. I hope there is more like this

Man I had this on while sleeping and in the dreams I had a really tough time. Imagine being in a Spanish speaking country by yourself without knowing the language well. I didn’t know who to trust. It was like a survival thing.

Please do not change the style. This is called Spanish listening for a reason. If you put the text first it defeats the purpose of training the ear to listen in Spanish which is the hard part. It's challenging but worthwhile. Thanks for making this video.❤

I commented 3 weeks ago and I am still listening to this regularly during work. However, if I really want to make progress, I will have to start watching all my TV shows and videos in Spanish with no English subtitles. Nothing motivates you more than wanting to enjoy watching TV shows. If I can't understand what they are saying, it will motivate me to learn so I can enjoy the shows.

I love listening first, that tells me how exactly to pronounce it. Often the words flow together and if I read it first then I would tend to stick to the words individually. So please do not change it.

I took 4 years of spanish in high school. At my current workplace, I was sitting near a team that spoke Spanish. During that time, my Spanish knowledge steadily came back to me. Then, I watched this video leading up to my Spain and Portugal trip. This video has been invaluable! I go about my normal day working while listening to this. Now, I have returned to listening to this video because there is a guy I like who speaks mostly Spanish.

I would have appreciated one more time to listen before being shown the answer, however, this forces me to listen intently and distinguish each word. I could be wrong, but I think this will be excellent for learning phrases, and ultimately conversations. I also think being spoken at normal speed is also great. The background is not distracting, and the emotion and inflection matches the words. Thanks for the many more hours that it took to make this 15 hours. What a great listening exercise.

P.S. I am an advanced learner, but I also use it for speaking aloud since this has always been my issue. Reading and writing seems easier to me. For me the goal is to be able to hold conversations with virtually anyone. En mi humilde opinion, se necesita hablar, hablar, y hablar.

I love this not having anything written as it gives me a chance to practice hearing the phrases before any writing comes up. Finally a listening practice!

I love this concept helping me with listening and than making sure I understood what is being said. This is perfect for my level . I know a lot of words My problem is when its is spoken fast I can't comprehend this is putting my brain to the test to pick up on what I know . Any phases I didn't get I wrote them down.

This is the exact stage that I am at too! Great at reading and writing and know a lot of words. But I get brain freeze as soon as someone speaks to me in Spanish!

This is very helpful as a listening exercise. It would be even better if inflection was used so listeners could differentiate between a sentence, a question and an exclamation.

Excellent video. I am now using it at double speed in order to really challenge my listening and comprehension skills. As well, I use it for vocabulary and conjugation. So, It cuts the 15 plus hours down to about 8 hours.

I'm going to Portugal and Spain in 2 weeks. I've been listening to this during work fairly regularly in preparation for the trip. I know Portugal speaks Portuguese, but Spanish is the closest thing I know. Might as well reinforce the knowledge I already have from 4 years of Spanish in high school. Is it effective? I think so. I'm able to pick up on conversations in Spanish pretty well. Speaking Spanish, however, isn't as easy, but I'm okay at it

OK, I'm assuming this would fall under the immersion technique of language learning. If so, I'm hooked. I mean, I can either: A) learn the words, and strain my brain trying to form my own phrases, or... B) I can go into a trance while listening to commonly used phrases, followed by their translations Both are helpful in their own way, but with this method, I can forsee a quick jump in my comprehension skills in future, casual conversation. I've noticed something about speaking Spanish as opposed to English. It is spoken more like words in a song, and the rhythm of the phrases seems to be more important, in my humble opinion. This makes it interesting to hear for a non speaker but also makes it difficult sometimes, for someone who actually knows all the words in the phrase, to decipher what is being said without seeing it written.
@Zzyzzyx Жыл бұрын
Hm, I disagree with you about the rhythm and intonation difference in Spanish and English. English is much more rhythmic and singsong than Spanish.
@jobsagoodun5 ай бұрын
The main thing I want to know when looking at anything Spanish - it is actually Spanish (from Spain) or some South American variant aimed at Americans? They need things to be kept simple, so everything there is advertised as "Spanish", and they even use the Spanish flag. It's a sad state of affairs when people offering actual Spanish need to make it extra-super-crystal clear, and people wanting to learn have to check.

I really need the complete transcript of this video. Please Kendra let me pay you for a pdf of it
Personally I find this great so far but I find it difficult to pronounce words which have both the H and R sounds together. It is hard for me to switch from a raspy H to a rolling R, but I can do either sound individually well. I think it will just come down to practice. I also find the J/Yah sound with the rolling R is easier than the raspy H and rolling R. I also don't know if my accent is more Italian than Spanish - but that is how it comes out to me, which is difficult - because I started Learning Latin/Italian first. Being Canadian - French is built in - so the rolling R and raspy H is easy enough. My experience with Spanish/Mexican is via American Media, which is 40+% of our programming on TV. So I only have that to go on. I have new coworkers from Spain and they know very little English - so I am learning Spanish to help translate duties and learn a new language - now that there are Dpanidh people to practice Spanish with... Americans don't know how lucky they are to have so many languages in their country and how much easier it would be to become a polyglot.
