@WIICknxnes Fr, just listened to this album for the first time (because I was like 9 when this came out lol) and when u started playing, I was balling my eyes out by the 3rd verse. I've never had a piece of music cut so deep when talking about personal issues. It seriously made me reflect on where I'm at rn and all the mistakes I've made/relationships I ruined because of my selfishness and depression. This is easily in my top 10 just off 2 listens so far.

From what I understand, momma is about him going back to the motherland which is why he talks about going back home. His trip to South Africa opened his eyes in the sense that he felt the need to go back to his own home (Compton) to help his people as a result of him going to the motherland.

Not entirely sure if anyone has mentioned this, but U is actually from Kendrick's own perspective; It is truly a harrowing masterpiece given that context. I and U are siblings of retrospection, showing the duality of Kendrick's ego and showcasing his serious battle with his own mental health. great reaction man, keep grinding.

I grew up with jazz and funk because of my dad while my mom taught me about literally every other genre. I got so lucky with my music taste. I only get compliments on my playlists. I’m HUGE on instruments and instrumentals because of my dad. One of my favorite musicians as a child is a bassist called Marcus Miller.

Keep doing your thing man. One piece of feedback-- your mic is kinda hot as I'm listening in my headphones. I would throw on a de-esser or EQ your voice a bit, or try a different mic maybe. Get those harsh high frequencies outta there. I really like that you've go the lyrics visible, and the visual layout of the entire screen is great.

I think "u" is Kendrick's own conscience and regret, that's his own thoughts towards himself, self-loathing
@cmydagger9761 Жыл бұрын
In u, whenever he mentions "you" he's referring to himself. So the song is in the pov of his inner demons
@cmydagger9761 Жыл бұрын
Also forgot to mention that it's supposed to be an actual experience he had when he was in a hotel when his depression hit him the hardest. It was the outcome of success, Survivor's Guilt, and being seen as a "savior" by everyone.

I'd suggest finding moments to listen to the albums as a whole. Basically every album starting from Section 80 has a narrative structure to it, and while everyone will have their favs and their tracks that aren't for them, they all serve a purpose in the context of the albums in their entirety.

48:20 although I agree with the general idea of "Black on Black" crime being stupid you are losing A TON of context. The phrase is used to make it seem like it just Black people, but racial crime against one another is high in ALL populations. It is not black specific. And the reason is because those of similar races live near one another. So white on white crime is also high. Don't let the narrative fool you in that regard.
