I did! I'm a white dude and I don't even listen to much hip hop but when I was an atheist I listened to this album and it made me cry, especially at the parts where he was explaining how he had come to the Lord. God has been trying to reach out to me. I prayed it. I meant it and I'll see you in paradise, brother. As a side note, Kendrick is a genius. People throw that term around liberally like just describing someone they like but I think he is an actual, literal genius. The way that album and lyrics were put together was really impressive.

I'm 16, I didn't live in the generation of great story tellers like Nas and Pac, Kendrick is my generation's great story teller. Let this generation have some fun and quit ruining it for everybody else. Thats what a of y'all dudes from the 90s do. Cuz it seem like according to yall if it ain't from the 90s it ain't shit. From my point of view, everyone wants to do good, but we are surrounded by the street life. It's how we live because it's all we see and how we feel accepted. Only when it hits home and it's someone you love, is when we are reminded that this is not the life we want to live. But, feel stuck because it's just the way of life. Therefore, we will always be headed nowhere and continue to be part of the cycle of violence. Despite wanting to change, the lifestyle will keep us "Dyin' of thirst". One of my favorite songs.

This song isn't depressing to me so much as it is real to me. This song is far from cliché. This song is about relenting on the violence, not glorifying it. This whole album is about his life in Compton, he wrote about what he saw. It's not about whether it's depressing or uplifting, it's about how authentic it is. The perspective from which this whole album is told is what makes the difference. He was balancing between good and evil in an environment where evil could've easily consumed him.

Yes, indeed. only very few of us. This whole album is fire. The flow from one track to skit to another track is flawless. A gem that hip hop NEEDS right now, but no one is paying attention. they hear it the way the industry displays it. Swimming Pools? it's about alcoholism. This track will NEVER make it to radio. Because it actually has meaning. This is my Favorite track on the whole album.
