Kendrick dismantled Drake's disses by having all the people Drake used as weapons against him standing by him in this music video. That's real power. At the end of the day, regardless of what the reality of these people's lives might be, they stand by him, in the most public of ways. It speaks to Kendrick's character, to him as a man, as a father, as a partner, as a collaborator, as a friend and even as a boss. Kendrick was always the better artist in this battle but this moment shows him as the better person as well. Further proof of that is that he does't even look like he's enjoying himself. He looks cold and detached. I don't think he's comfortable with this level of attention on his personal life and having to expose his people in this way. It's not how he moves in life and not what he's about. But it's like he said on 6:16 in LA , this type of power always comes with a cost and he's gonna do what he has to do.

I really think the end with the fade to black and the crowd director asking “y’all wanna do it again?” was used as a question posed to Drake. Like Kendrick is asking/threatening to start things up again if Drake acts up

I think the message is to the industry. Don't try to create another "Drake".. The culture rides with Kendrick.. Those who are not of the culture have been asked if they are actually the culture's friend and as we can see from the reactions to this world wide.. the answer is YES. And, they all want to happily and joyfully destroy anyone who tries to do another "Drake".. This video just keeps getting better and better everytime you watch it.

Also, notice the owl looking defeated and uncomfortable. If an owl is hunched over with its head lowered and feathers up to look like a huge orb of feathers, the owl is terrified and is in desperate need of a shift to somewhere it feels more secure.😮

Genrally speaking, at the risk of being too pedantic. That body language is borderline universally considered submissive behavior. Very meek, trying to take up as little space as possible, trying to diminish the silhouette enough to maybe go unnoticed.

Also like saying Kendrick has to abide by the rules of the culture too. He's not above it, he doesn't even decide it; he's just comfortable within it.

kendrick moves like stanley kubrick. thats one of the best movie directors ever, hes known for having a meaning behind every single thing in his films, from the colors to the paintings on the wall. kendrick is beyond calculated, nothing is by accident. the director yellin "yall wanna do it again?" at the end was him lettin drake know if he wanna run it back, he can get it.

It's not people need to stop that, the has maintained dominance for over a decade and is about to beat MJ in number 1 singles he is not going anywhere soon, but the OVO brand is done and dusted for sure. The fact that it's summer and he doesn't have a single OVO feature not even with Party next door who also dropped a album just before the beef with mix reviews, tells me that they are in trouble plus it's obvious now that Kendrick as a album ready to drop the moment Drake even attempt to make a comeback.

A lot of people don't see that Kendrick is in the crowd at the very end. I know I didn't the first few times. He is there, with HIS people. He was so well hidden because he BELONGS with his culture. When that alone hit me I was like wow. But I'm still catching doubles and triples even though I've heard this song 1000 times now. I had heard that he said Hey hey hey (Bill Cosby, fat albert) but only just realized that he said "now step this way step that way" .... R Kelly, Step in the Name of Love. But, lastly it took this video to realize what he meant by the entire phrase by ending it with ARE WE LOCKED IN...... In the damn CAGE. So... basically he said like Bill Cosby and R. Kelly, Drakes predator OWL is a predator) ass, he will be locked in a cage just like the other predators and Kendrick just started that process.

One beautiful thing about the crowd scene is that Kendrick’s actually in it but you don’t really notice him with the high and exciting energy from everyone. And it had to be a lot of people since it was shot under the white structure at the start of the video. Such a well thought out video.
@ashlynnb12113 ай бұрын
You guys basically echoed my thoughts - this video is like a whole separate diss with the visuals. And something I didn’t catch until this rewatch/listen - the outro is 100% Drake bait… the DJ says “yall wanna do this again?” *crowd cheers* “ok, ya just gotta do one thing… back up” - like, that audio outro is 💯 deliberate - subtle but intentional. I think if Drake so much as throws a subliminal Kendrick is coming back at him.

Some things I noticed: -Kendrick is wearing the same white outfit in the first song (sample) as he is in the video; he has more Drake related songs to drop -the black & white scenes in the video show that he is protected and fears no one and the second scene is his family. These black and white scenes show what’s important to him- God & family -when Whitney is dancing there’s a fan on the ceiling -it’s interesting when Kendrick wears white and when he wears black clothes in the video
