4th of July being the release date corresponds to the theme of Drake being COLONIZER it's not a coincidence. Also: shot at TDE, and that TD extorted him, and Kendrick owes him money even though he's not in his label no more and had HUGE FALLING OUT. Yet they smile bop and dance, same with Dave Free (not only producing but being in the music video is making Whitney family scene more meaningful because "one of his (and hers) is supposed Dave Free". ALL OF HIS CLAIMS ARE REBUTTED PERFECTLY Fun fact: Kendrick (as Drake in cell block one) did 17 push ups, as Drake doesn't like higher than 17. Nah that's not a reach, it's repeated second time when he does push-ups. Also I'm very happy happy Kendrick took what Drake said to his heart: "You tryna let this sh!t die down, nah, nah, nah. Not this time, ninja, you followin' through"

I feel like Tommy the Clown is so prominent in the Not Like Us rollout because Kendrick is showing that when they approach and socialize with kids it's to promote positive black culture through an artform like dance and to pull kids away from gang culture. When Drake approaches kids, it's to partake in their TikTok dances, promote gang culture while pretending to be in it to be cool, and to get their numbers.

Kendrick dismantled Drake's disses by having all the people Drake used as weapons against him standing by him in this music video. That's real power. At the end of the day, regardless of what the reality of these people's lives might be, they stand by him, in the most public of ways. It speaks to Kendrick's character, to him as a man, as a father, as a partner, as a collaborator, as a friend and even as a boss. Kendrick was always the better artist in this battle but this moment shows him as the better person as well. Further proof of that is that he does't even look like he's enjoying himself. He looks cold and detached. I don't think he's comfortable with this level of attention on his personal life and having to expose his people in this way. It's not how he moves in life and not what he's about. But it's like he said on 6:16 in LA , this type of power always comes with a cost and he's gonna do what he has to do.

@@Chainsyyy I know right? And in a way too, aside from it being the nail to the coffin of Drake's claims that the family ain't doing well, it also shows that even if it's a little consciousness inducing at first, that Whitney is willing to step up for her family too. She is not backing down from showing up to support her man and the father of her kids. She looked beautiful! This also shows that even his family straight up from the hood and even his lady and his kids are more cultured than Drake.

Somebody made the point that Kendrick locking Drake up and removing his freedom, is almost making the point that Drake's never felt or understood any of the historic black struggle and now Kendrick's going to force him to face and experience just a tiny taste of what it's like, himself. This is what being deprived, held back, silenced, diminished and controlled feels like. Never use the line "free the slaves" so flippantly and freely again.

I think the message is to the industry. Don't try to create another "Drake".. The culture rides with Kendrick.. Those who are not of the culture have been asked if they are actually the culture's friend and as we can see from the reactions to this world wide.. the answer is YES. And, they all want to happily and joyfully destroy anyone who tries to do another "Drake".. This video just keeps getting better and better everytime you watch it.

A lot of people don't see that Kendrick is in the crowd at the very end. I know I didn't the first few times. He is there, with HIS people. He was so well hidden because he BELONGS with his culture. When that alone hit me I was like wow. But I'm still catching doubles and triples even though I've heard this song 1000 times now. I had heard that he said Hey hey hey (Bill Cosby, fat albert) but only just realized that he said "now step this way step that way" .... R Kelly, Step in the Name of Love. But, lastly it took this video to realize what he meant by the entire phrase by ending it with ARE WE LOCKED IN...... In the damn CAGE. So... basically he said like Bill Cosby and R. Kelly, Drakes predator OWL is a predator) ass, he will be locked in a cage just like the other predators and Kendrick just started that process.

You guys basically echoed my thoughts - this video is like a whole separate diss with the visuals. And something I didn’t catch until this rewatch/listen - the outro is 100% Drake bait… the DJ says “yall wanna do this again?” *crowd cheers* “ok, ya just gotta do one thing… back up” - like, that audio outro is 💯 deliberate - subtle but intentional. I think if Drake so much as throws a subliminal Kendrick is coming back at him.
