Kendrick Lamar has cemented himself as one of the greatest rappers of all time and probably the best of his generation, but his social justice-driven message is still lost on some as a small town in Connecticut just forked out a six-figure settlement to a public school student, and son of a cop, who claimed he was traumatized in school after watching Kendrick's "Alright" music video. Rick Strom breaks it down. Give us your thoughts in the comments below!

But who is allowed to be emotionally distressed, who is allowed to sue for emotional damage, you have black kids being forced to endure the N-word used against them and have even teachers have mock slave auctions yet no lawsuit is allowed to go forth, whites are the only ones allowed to weaponize their white fragility.

Kendrick is nothing like I thought he was when I did my own research, listened to his lyrics, and saw his actions beyond his words. He isn’t what FoX newz portrays. Kendrick is a uniquely talented human being trying to be positive and persevere for the sake of his family, community and for all of us. Ironically, Kendrick says there’s a person out here who is very dangerous and most likely a criminal that we should all stay away from -who is an accomplished liar and allegedly a sociopath - and his name is Drake. Drake is dangerous.

It’s not a misunderstanding. It is the status quo. At this point in human history EVERYONE is familiar with black pain and black suffering at the hands of American empire. I have been gaslighted for my entire life and I’m done. I see the ugliness behind the mask and the rot beneath the veneer. It’s pitiful and “they” truly have my pity for the generational pathologies associated with constantly trying to shelter your psyche from the horrors of your past and ancestry. This is what happens when the villain sees themselves as the hero. Kendrick was correct, “we gone be alright” cause they not like us, they not like us, THEY NOT LIKE US..

🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️ I’ve noticed more and more how white liberals and Democrats speak about what we are seeing today as if it’s new. And every time they speak like that it lets me know that when they think of this country, black people are no where in mind. The black experience, the actions and behaviors of white people towards blacks and natives never gets considered part of the history to this country when they speak as if these politicians didn’t use these same tactics to uphold white supremacy, Jim Crow, racism w/e you wanna call it. And now that that same evil is now reaching out and touching them too, they want to say “we need to vote save democracy” where were “we” all these hundreds of years black folks had our right to democracy being trampled on?

That case is such clear nonsense, that kid wasn’t some 2nd grader who doesn’t know what’s going on, he’s less than a year from high school so either the kid had severe emotional issues long before the Kendrick video, or his parents are right wing bigots trying what most of that party have been doing regarding minorities over the last few years which is try to paint them as a danger to the general public (meaning straight white men). Anyone who has spent time in the black community anywhere knows extremely well how accurate Kendrick’s lyrics and video are regarding cops and black people, and I didn’t even grow up in Compton, but I did grow up in a predominantly black neighborhood and I’ve seen with my own two eyes what cops are like when dealing with black people, especially teenagers. The funny thing is where I live is pretty liberal overall and that bigotry is still super common.

Silly European Americans. They were afraid when Sioux Indians and others started doing the Ghost Dance, which terrified the supervising agents of the BIA. This led to the Wounded Knee Massacre, 153 dead Lakota, mostly women and children. Today European Americans are afraid of rap music. They do not understand it nor will they take the time to learn about it. Rap music as well as the style of how rap is done, has found its way all around the world and is sung in places like the Middle East, China, south eastern Europe (The Balkans) and where ever there are people being oppressed, rap music is used to tell their stories of their struggles and their hopes. Of their losses and of their triumphs. You can hear rap music in Mandarin, in the many different dialects of Farsi and Arabic, Spanish, Tagalog, and many other different languages around the world. Yet European Americans are afraid of it. Lets just hope they do not start another massacre because of their own lack of understanding of what rap really is about why it has such a world wide appeal.

Kendrick Lamar has proven he belongs in the pantheon of great American Songwriters, alongside Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, Bob Dylan, etc. He’s telling the stories of his life and times, and the impact of his music has a major cultural impact. To Pimp A Butterfly is so trash. The name itself is EXTREMELY low level intelligence. He starts by trying to seem intelligent (which he is not) by copying the naming scheme of To Kill A Mockingbird. To kill a mockingbird was a metaphor for doing something evil and harming something innocent. It is a classic novel in American literature that is taught in schools across the country and has been for decades. So he attempts to tap into this and flip it, and he changes kill to pimp and mockingbird to butterfly. But there is nothing there. To Pimp a Butterfly doesn't mean anything. You can literally kill a mockingbird in a literal sense. You can't literally pimp a butterfly. Who do you pimp? Hoes and bitches. Who is the butterfly? Kendrick? Is he a hoe ass bitch? Probably. He is a small little pipsqueak hoe in the physical sense. He can get slapped around like a hoe in the physical sense due to his small stature. So is he the one getting pimped in his story? But this is real life. He doesn't HAVE to make music. He can choose to make music. He can choose to sign to a record label or not. He can choose to do shows or not. No one is pimping him. He tries so hard to be deep like Lupe Fiasco but he falls flat every time because he isn't smart. His rhymes are whack. His premises are always off. He always comes in off beat on the wrong bar. He frequently chooses the wrong words to try to convey a message and he's so incoherent from an intellectual stand point. You don't EVER get that with Lupe. Or anyone else for that matter. People that are really good at this rap shit, don't miss like Kendrick does in basically every single song. The flow, the delivery, the presence, the wordplay, the execution, all of it. He doesn't have it. He has cool beats. But when you break down the rhymes, they're all broken. He's so over hyped. He's not even a top 200 rapper. He would fail any English class I've ever been in. He's not a good writer. It's all hype. He's an industry plant.

They're only trying to come at Kendrick because he mess drake behind up with lyric which I thought that freedom of speech 💬 if the child was autistic or had special needs he wouldn't know if he was listening to Kendrick or Ray Charles the child probably was afraid to see his dad lea e to go to work with his police uniform on and his gun I don't believe that one bit and if you're coming for a performer because of a video that to much shame on them children with disabilities and special have that part of them that's afraid of toy animals etc I know because it's the disability go to a facility where there's special need kid's and adults you'll see some amazing situation I know what I'm saying is facts also why was the child in a class room looking at a music video if he's special needs I don,'t in anyway trying to be harsh I have a son special needs also

What happened to the time when education meant a discussion and analysis of view points? It’s ridiculous that some people have decided that children are too fragile to understand the realities that others in their communities face in their day to day existence. Yet somehow they believe these same children should be allowed to carry firearms. What happened to raising your own children and teaching them values? How is that the teacher’s fault? Where was these parent’s responsibility in the situation? Why weren’t they able to explain to their son the difference between the images in the video and his father. Why couldn’t they help him understand that there are officers out there who abuse their position and cause harm to other people, but that his father is not one of them. Why couldn’t they take him to counseling? Why is money going to suddenly make it better? Why is changing schools going to make it better? The comical, but sad part is none of the people who are usually victims of the things that happen in the video can change schools to make their skin not black. They can’t sue anyone and become suddenly not black. They just have to learn to live with it. Black parents have to coach their children about how to handle the possibility of being stopped by police every time they walk out the door. Black mothers live in fear of their sons or husbands not returning home. But there’s nobody to sue and switching schools won’t change it.

Lies. It's sanitized to give and make the occupiers here a lot of credit for things they didn't do. History in school slams the Indigenous and our Black brothers and sisters they stole, erased their identities and enslaved them build a nation they take credit for. Two races that built pyramids under their boot, while they were figuring out how not to drink their own shit water. Sitting on Stolen Land, built up by Stolen People and they're the victims, kind of like Israel, in fact, exactly like Israel.
