It was fun to see this reaction. The men of Home Free are: Austin Brown - high tenor Rob Lundquist - tenor, has beard Chris Rupp - baritone, often wears a cowboy hat, brother to Adam, founder of group Tim Foust - bass Adam Rupp - beatboxer, occasionally sings baritone, brother of Chris, founder of group In 2016, Chris left the group and a new baritone Adam Chance (goes by Chance to avoid confusion with Adam Rupp) was added. Chance can also sing bass which allows them more vocal freedom when Tim sings lead. When they decide to do a song, whether a cover or original, they have a sing off between themselves to come up with a lead singer. So some songs have more than one lead. They are known for great harmonics and humor especially during live shows. If something goes wrong on stage they are known to make fun of it and just keep the audience (and themselves) entertained. They have both serious and comedic songs and videos. Fans are referred to as Home Fries, a name created by Ben Folds when Hone Free was on the Sing-Off.

You have found a treasure trove of a capella with Home Free. Please check out net from Home Free - Helplessly Hoping (a cover of a 1969 Crosby, Stills & Nash B-side song) It's ART,,,,just plain and simple ART. The Home Free Bass is Tim Foust, the high tenor at the beginning was Austin Brown, their tenor (guy with the beard and glasses) is Rob Lundquist, beritone here in this video is Chris Rupp who founded the group, but he left in 2016 to have a solo career, and was replaced by Adam Chance (but called in the group & by fans just Chance), and the beatboxer is 2 time world Champion beat boxer Adam Rupp. They can do all genre's of music, they have covered BoyzIIMen, and dozens of country artists but also some of their own originals. They have also collabed with Lee Greenwood, Kenny Rogers & the Oak Ridge Boys, We the fans call ourselves Home Fries. Also look for their cover of How Great Thou Art, an original Why Not ?, and their latest came out just this past Saturday....a cover of a Foy Vance song called Moonshine. There is video to of Adam Rupp's "drum solo" which has no drums here on KZbin. They give him a solo part at each of their concerts. I've seen them twice in concert...they also are still in Quarantine and have produced 10 new videos/songs since it all started. Their Quarantine song is funny, shows their sense of humor. @@KillerTruffle No, Tim displays a G#1 in Misty.
@KillerTruffle4 жыл бұрын
@@keoashford1924 Where is confirmation on this? Because I've seen this debate, and I have personally compared the end note of Misty Mountains against a number of samples of G#1, and Tim is clearly an octave below that. It's a growl, not a chest note, but I have found nothing actually supporting it being a G#1. It matches G#0, and is a half step below his A0 in Sold! (which I have also checked against a number of A0 samples to confirm a match, as well as A1 samples to confirm it is an octave lower). If you have more solid evidence than this that it is indeed G#1, I'm interested to see it.
@keoashford19244 жыл бұрын
@@KillerTruffle The A0 does not exist in Sold. There is a video on Dan Mirabel's channel where Tim video responds to a question about the A0. Tim's growl in Misty is only a first octave note, and it's very obvious when taken to a keyboard. Sorry if your aural skills aren't on par mate.
@KillerTruffle4 жыл бұрын
@@keoashford1924 I looked at that video (hadn't seen it before), and it's a little short of a confirmation. He said "I believe... but my memory's not great." That does raise more into question, but I still do not see concrete evidence that it's not an A0. In fact, nowhere in Tim's reply did he state that the note was an A1 rather than A0. The only question Tim's response even touches on is who actually sang the note - he "believes" it was Adam. Which if that's true, I just got a whole lot more respect for Adam too - and he's already one of my favorites in the group (great sounding bass in Mayday), if it's possible to have favorites when every one of them is amazing. I will admit I do not have a keyboard handy to track along with the notes and have only been able to make due with finding other note samples online, but I'll look into it some more.

He’s down to a G1 on this. Their beat boxer, Adam, is amazing (check out Adam Rupp drum solo on KZbin). Rounding out is Austin (tenor 1), Rob (tenor 2) and Chance (baritone/bass). Chance took over for Chris who’s seen in this video.

Fun reaction! You'll love digging into Home Free. This video has Chris Rupp as a baritone, he was also the founder together with the beatboxer Adam Rupp. Chris left the group in 2016 so in videos from June 2016 and onwards their new baritone is Adam Chance, commonly called Chance to not confuse the names. Chance came straight from Street Corner Symphony, another acapella group, where he was the bass. So now they have two basses. High tenor, who sang solo in this video is Austin Brown, and the lead tenor is Rob Lundquist, that's the guy with the beard. These guys are talented beyond belief and they are putting out new videos every other week during these times. Keeping us Home Fries, their fans, satisfied. You can't really go wrong with choosing your next video to watch, they have more than 100 videos to choose from, mostly covers but also originals. The only one you should not listen to yet is Mayday as you'll need to know the guys and their parts in the group to get the full Great balls of Barry White factor from it! Other than that! Welcome to this rabbit hole, not many manage to get out from it and very few ever wants to. :)

Just because I haven't seen it mentioned yet, HF have an entire catalog of Christmas songs, including videos, and they've often done Christmas tours. Some beautiful arrangements of classic songs. And yes, they are just as good live, plus just really funny, engaging, humble, and generous... and they truly value their fans and supporters.. Enjoy the Home Free rabbit hole.. It's a musical buffet 😏

Was nice to hear someone mention Maestro Terfel. The man is one of my musical heroes (as are Hvorostovsky, Pape, Moll, Ramey, and the Russian Oktavist; Vlad Miller). Loved your reaction at Tim Foust hitting that G1 at the end!

The beatboxer is Adam Rupp you need to watch Adam Rupp drum solo..he will make you a believer! Loved the harmonies and beatboxing! Avi and Tim were amazing! Notice how Tim held that last low note for about 10 seconds? Great reaction 🎉 I love Home Free😊

Ken you said you always marvel at people can do nontraditional things with their voices; then checkout Home Free's Man of Constant Sorrow and be prepared to be blown away.

Loved your reaction. It’s ok to have never heard of them. I just discovered them this year too. They are tremendous. Tim Foust is the incredible bass you were hearing at the end. He hit a G1 and held it for 13 seconds I believe. On their live version of this song on the Sing Off show Tim hit a F1. Their harmonies are superb in everything they do. How Great Thou Art, Auld Lang Syne, Helplessly Hoping are all incredible. But they do a lot of country and I’m not even a great fan of country but I love them. I love Country Roads, the John Denver cover, it’s beautiful. Enjoy!

Tim Foust is one of the finest basses in the world today. Bar none. The beatboxer, Adam Rupp, has won many beatboxing competitions. Home Free won NBC’s “The Sing-Off” in 2012, the year after “Pentatonix” did! They do mostly country (but they’ve done many other genres!) and they are a bunch of great guys!

Tim Faust is their bass. In addition to the phenomenal low notes he has a tremendous range. There is also another baritone (Chance) who can cover the bass when Tim sings lead. Adam Rupp is the beat boxer extraordinaire. He has an extended “drum solo” that is available on KZbin. If you liked this you owe it to yourself to dig into their repertoire. Fans are called Home Fries. Enjoy.

"Great balls of Barry White!" 😅😅😅 I'm dead. There is a love version of this when they were contestants on The Sing Off a few years ago

You should check the bass battles with Avi, Tim, and Geoff. Tim is amazing! Also look under Home Free's site and watch Adam Rupp's "drum solo" and see what he can do. Adam has won several beatbox championships. Tim Foust is the bass for Home Free try listening to "Diamond Dreams" and "Moonshine" for samples of their original stuff. Also Avi's "Change on The Rise" is amazing!

Tim Foust (Home Free's bass) has a 5 octave range - "Snow Globe" which he wrote, really shows it off. Home Free also has an outstanding version of "When A Man Loves A Woman" and the video "Mayday (Live") is amazing. Loved your reaction to the two basses. The beatboxer is Adam Rupp - he and his brother Chris (in the black cowboy hat) founded the band.

So glad you chose this one for your wonderful, as always, reaction :) Loved every minute of it, especially the moment you ask "where is the drumset" heh

Welcome to Home Free! That beatboxer is Adam Rupp. He is an award-winning talent. Check out Tim Foust, who has a 5 octave range and can sing south of the piano keyboard. They have another bass now who is Adam Chance, and their performances are singularly amazing, because they have an amazing low register. PLEASE react to more of Home Free. You will be simply STUNNED!!! And also, amused because they are hilarious.

I saw them live, and Tim Foust, the basso profundo started a G0 growl for Your Man and really did come in as high tenor for Mayday

This is a reaction almost a year after this was posted so I'm sure you know by now that Home Free has five tenors and at least two basses. They are a deeply talented group. Thanks for the informative review.

I just looked back at your list of reaction videos and I see no Pentatonix. You really should find something of their's to react to. I would recommend, Hallelujah or Bohemian Rhapsody, which has Avi Kaplan, the original bass, and Sound of Silence, which has their new bass, Matt Sallee, who took over for Avi, when he left for personal reasons.
@LindsayTrimpe3 жыл бұрын
I really think some of their original work is fantastic with Avi - like "Love Again" or "Sing" - but my favorites of their newer stuff is "Come Along" or "Deep End"

Tim Foust is the bass from Home Free. He has a 5 octave range, he sings lower then Avi. Adam Rupp is the beatboxer. You need to check out Season 4 of the Sing Off when Home Free won.

Fellow Canadian here - you must continue your journey and reactions to Home Free - they have a huge catalogue of covers and originals in many genres. In additional to their amazing harmonies, they have been putting out a new video every 2 weeks (throughout Covid*) - the 5 guys live in 3 different states, so when you listen to some of their Covid-work bear in mind they are NOT recording them together. So, so good! Some recommendations: Country Roads (took them 5 years to hone/perfect their arrangement as they wanted to do it right), Quarantine* (hilarious!), Meet in the Middle*, Hillbilly Bone, Heaven, Cover Me Up*, In the Blood, Helplessly Hoping and so, so many more. The rabbit hole is deep, you will NOT be disappointed. Enjoy!
